Once again flaunting her petite bod in a racy backless mini, Kristen Bell was in exceptionally good spirits on the red carpet of the Critic’s Choice Awards in Santa Monica on January 8. Laughing it up with everyone from the photogs to her presenting partner in crime Jason Segel, at least Kristen enjoyed herself in this questionable ‘fit. Love the loose blonde waves, love the gleaming collar necklace – absolutely despise the dress. Besides the fact that it looks like KB is wearing wrinkled aluminum foil, the elastic strap across the back and poor construction of this strapless little number is downright trashy. I would have expected better from Ms. Bell! Clean up the look with a more tasteful pick like Cake Couture’s flirty Olivia Foil Tunic in Grey. Adding boring pewter pumps, a shiny little clutch (try Julie K’s Gigi Mini Bag in Pewter) and simple bangle bracelet (like CC Skye’s flashy Deco St. Tropez Bracelet in White), it’s a shame that the ‘fit is ruined by such a distasteful frock. Do any of you disagree? Besides making fashion blunders, Ms. Bell has a lot on her plate for 2009. You’ll see her appear soon in Vince Vaughn’s new funny flick Couples Retreat as a neurotic wife trying to conceive, and if you’re missing her on the boob tube at home, don’t despair. KB’s “Veronica Mars” producer, Rob Thomas, is producing a new comedy called “Party Down” on Starz, and Kristen is rumored to be involved. The show follows a group of wannabe-actor-caterers in LA through their hilariously awkward attempts at success. Kristen has said numerous times that she’s eager to work with her former boss again, and Rob told the press this week: “Kristen Bell stopped by set the other day and wants to do one of the episodes. She has a gap near the end [of our production schedule]. I think Kristen may appear in the show, which could be really great.” The new sitcom is supposed to be inspired by the reality style banter of “The Office” with a Hollywood spin. I can’t decide if I can picture KB more as a helpless waitress or snooty party guest – which role do you think she’d portray best?
