ENGAGED COINCIDENCE?

With a beaming post-engagement glow, Jessica Simpson makes an appearance at an autograph signing event at Dillard's in Overland Park, Kansas on November 13. Jess stepped out in a casual wintery look, layering a grey pocket vest (like Twelfth Street by Cynthia Vincent's Drape Tie Vest in Grey) over a long sleeve black top (try Corson's Long Sleeve Pocket Crew in Black) and a pair of slimming black leggings (check out Tag Jeans' Brentwood Skinny in Black). Jess added a little bling with a long tassel chain necklace and a mirrored bangle set (just like Amrita Singh's Allie Bangle Set in Multi), polishing off the look with glossy pointy toe pumps (try KORS Michael Kors' Julian Patent Pump in Black). What do you think of Jessica's neutral look, do you like the way she's layered the vest over her tee? I'd say it does a great job of deflecting the constant criticism of her weight! At the event, Jessica showed off her sparkly ruby and diamond engagement ring bestowed upon her by her ex-NFL player beau Eric Johnson, who popped the question over the weekend after dating for a mere six months. Everyone from Jess to her new fiancé to papa Joe Simpson have come out praising the engagement, but I have to wonder if their sudden serious move has anything to do with Jess being down about ex-hubby Nick Lachey getting engaged last week. Call me crazy, but it seems a little fishy for her to get engaged out of the blue! However a source alleges Eric planned the engagement for "awhile," saying: “The date of the engagement was a special date for them.” I have to wonder what could make a date so special if you've never shared it together! Thoughts??
