Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson (born April 15, 1990) is a British actress who rose to prominence playing Hermione Granger, one of three starring roles in the Harry Potter film series. Watson was cast as Hermione at the age of nine, having previously only acted in school plays. From 2001 to 2007, she starred in five Harry Potter films alongside Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint; she will return for the final three installments: Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, due to be released in July 2009, and the two parts of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Watson's work on the Harry Potter series has earned her several awards and more than £10 million. In 2007, Watson announced her involvement in two non-Harry Potter productions: the made-for-television adaptation of the novel Ballet Shoes and an animated film, The Tale of Despereaux. Ballet Shoes was broadcast on 26 December 2007, to an audience of 5.2 million and The Tale of Despereaux, based on the novel by Kate DiCamillo, was released in 2008.

Emma Watson seen on Sep 21 2009 in London, UK. Who says you can't skip a few days of school for London Fashion Week? Emma Watson was spotted landing at Heathrow on Sept 20, arriving appropriately dressed in college sweats and a vintage "I Heart NY" tee. She re-emerged on Tuesday at the Burberry Prorsum Spring/Summer 2010 show, looking strikingly glamorous in a tinsel-like canary mini with a black braided belt and coordinating black leather platforms (get the glitzy look with VOOM by Joy Han's playful Starlet Bubble Sleeve Dress in Orange or the Metallic Mini in Bronze, or get happy with Alice + Olivia's bright Floral Poof Dress in Yellow with a contrasting belt like Motif 56's Elise Croc Belt in Black). I confess I'm not feeling the fabric that much, but I think the gold front zipper saves it from being a total failure – thoughts? This style was at the core of the new collection, and Emma's sexy heels also appeared on the runway in a few shades. I know the "hooker heel" trend is hot this fall but it seems like the public (and myself!) have yet to embrace it, until I saw these gorgeous picks. For me, the twist detail on the front straps and at the ankle give the shoes an element of sophistication that is usually lost with platforms over 3 inches. Well done, Emma! While she'll have a little catching up to do at school, I'm sure it was worth it for Emma to score on the latest fashions during her week at home – not to mention sitting next to Gwyneth Paltrow during the show! Other A-listers in attendance included Anna Wintour, Victoria Beckham and Kate Moss, so I'm sure Emma felt privileged just to be in the room! After all, following in Kate's footsteps (hopefully not too far!) she is the latest face of Burberry, and this show marked a momentous occasion: the first show Burberry has held in London in the past decade – resurrected on account of London Fashion Week's 25th anniversary celebration, of course. Hmm, wonder what Emma's professors at Brown will think?
Emma Watson seen on Sep 05 2009 in Providence, Rhode Island. Emma Watson picks up a frappechino with her parents at Starbucks in Providence, Rhode Island on Sept 5 while getting settled in at Brown University over the weekend. British beau Jay Barrymore was also spotted on campus with the newly enrolled Harry Potter starlet. She looks like she fits in perfectly with her preppy striped sweater (live in luxury with Autumn Cashmere's Rugby Striped Capsleeve Sweater in Black/Bleach or the Striped U Neck Sweater in Mouse Milk), cuffed shorts (like 1921 Jean's Cuff Short Short in Medium) and eco-friendly book bag (try Zambos and Siega's Go Green Tote in Beige). I can't tell if she's wearing a silver cuff or a hair elastic, but Christie Martin's Love Bangle in Sterling Silver is an adorable accent that can be personalized too. What do you think of Emma's back to school look? While she gets settled, Emma continues to live the life of book worm Hermoine: “It sounds so geeky, but I really do like studying and reading, and if I’m not working on Harry Potter, then my greatest relaxation is to sit with a book. That’s how I escape stress — in literature. I always have several books on the go at any one moment.” Who knew smart could be so chic?
Emma Watson seen on Aug 19 2009 in London, UK. Taking London's unseasonable summer heat in stride on a walk with her beau, Emma Watson looked like your average girl next door while taking a stroll on August 19 with boyfriend Jay Barrymore. The couple picked up cold drinks while browsing a few shops, where Emma ended up with the book she's holding Inspired by Music. While Emma has been sculpting a pleasant sartorial image for herself in Burberry and Karl Lagerfeld's circles, this breezy summer 'fit is quite the opposite of sophistication. The tank jumper dress is cute (opt for a more flattering fit like Splendid's Pocket Tank Dress in Heather or Rails' breezy Pamela Dress in White) but I wish she was wearing better undergarments, or standing up straighter – one way or the other something unflattering is going on! Emma stayed true to her preppy style with buckled loafers and a plain skinny bracelet on her left wrist (try Citrine by the Stones' Wire Bangle in Silver), leaving her hair more or less natural while enjoying the summer sunshine. Definitely not one of her better days but I think Emma looks cute and carefree – any naysayers? While Emma makes the move from London to the U.S. at the end of this month to start college at Brown, there are also rumors she may be trying out her entrepreneurial skills soon. If you recall she vehemently denied any desire to design in her WWD feature in July: “I’m really not interested in doing it for my own ego. I’m not a designer. If someone asked me to do something that was beneficial to a cause, then maybe I’d consider it, but not just [to be able to say] ‘Look at me! I’ve got my own line!’” Rumors still persist she is collaborating with fair-trade line People Tree on a juniors offshoot line with proceeds benefiting UNICEF. While it is a little too soon for her to change her mind about designing, she did say she'd consider doing something for charity! She also expressed interest in fair-trade clothing to British Elle in June: “I’m really interested in fair-trade fashion and organic cotton, but it’s hard because, to be honest, the stuff’s kind of ugly or really plain." I'd love to see what kind of not-so-ugly or plain creations Emma could come up with, but her rep has officially put the brakes on any further rumors: "Emma supports many fair-trade organizations but has no formal relationship with any company." Playing the field – I like it!
Emma Watson seen on Jul 09 2009 in New York, NY. The fashion world's newest darling, Emma Watson, was spotted turning heads and impressing countless sartorial admirers at the NYC premiere of her new film Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince last night, July 9, held at the Ziegfeld Theatre in Manhattan. Previously spotted in stunning choices from Rodarte and vintage Ossie Clark, Watson chose a dress from Proenza Schouler's Resort 2010 Collection with a haltered black leather bodice and attached white skirt for the NYC premiere. A daring and risque frock, Emma's genuine sweetness and ease kept the look from being overkill. I have to commend the young Ms. Watson, who seems to have made the fashion world take notice of her impeccable style almost overnight, for her looks have been sophisticated, tasteful, and above all, effortless. To get Emma's look here, try combining several key pieces strategically for a unified look, a la Proenza Schouler. Start with a dramatic top (I love Gold Hawk's embellished Chevron Top in Moonless Night) tucked into a clean white skirt (try Joe's Jeans' Ollie Skirt in White) and belt it with a nude belt (Motif 56's Piper Belt in Natural), and then accessorize with strappy criss-cross heels and a vibrant turquoise ring (like Rachel Leigh Jewelry's Enamel Ring in Blue). Finish off your look with fresh and youthful makeup with a pale pink lip and slate grey eyes, and you'll be red carpet ready. Emma recently told Teen Vogue that she hasn't been working with a stylist, because "there's nothing interesting about looking perfect." What do you think of Emma's look here - as well as on the carpet the past few days? Are you as impressed as I am?
Emma Watson seen on Jul 09 2009 in New York, NY. I was so blown away by Emma Watson's fabulous red carpet looks during the Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince publicity tour that I almost missed her appearance on CBS's "The Early Show" in NYC on July 9. I just can't get enough of her fabulous style! Over the past few month's she's proved she can be sophisticated, sexy, youthful, and more – whatever the occasion demands, she's lived up to it with maturity beyond her 19 years. Appearing on "The Early Show" the morning of the big HP premiere, Emma chose to wear her heart on her sleeve – ahem, purse – with a perfectly fitting Chanel Union Jack bag and fiery red Saloni Alexia tiered dress (stand out in Catherine Maladrino's Belted Dress in Grenadine or try Joie's fun printed More Than This Dress in Admiral). Showing the Lagerfeld love with sexy Chanel Resort 2009 cage boots, Emma wore a simple black charm necklace (reminds me of the shape of Castaway's Black Onyx Skull Necklace in Jewelry) and wore her hair in tousled just-rolled-out-of-bed waves. Love that it all works together without looking too matchy-matchy, and the strappy boots are the perfect touch. At first the dress seemed plain to me, until I noticed the chiffon sleeves and oversized buttons on the cuff – it's very British and suits her perfectly, don't you think? Since Daniel Radcliffe let Emma's college choice (Brown University) slip during the Harry Potter photo call, Emma has been fielding all sorts of questions about what her college experience will be like. Defending her decision to keep things quiet, Emma spoke out: “I am looking forward to being a normal teenager and want a normal experience for a bit. Just a little bit of normality for a while would be nice. If I’m going to do this experience, I’m going to do it properly and going to do it like everyone else.” Is that a bit of smarty-pants Hermoine rubbing off on her? Apparently, Emma wants to be so normal so badly she's actually choosing to live in the dorms when she could easily afford to buy her own luxury apartment nearby. Do you think she'll change her mind?
Emma Watson seen on Jul 06 2009 in London, UK. Fulfilling her promotional duties for Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince in London this week, the ever adorable Emma Watson posed with co-stars Rupert Grint and Daniel Radcliffe at a photocall held at the Claridge Hotel on July 6. Despite the recent reports that Rupert was in bed with swine flu last week, Emma doesn't seem to mind cozying up to him! I just can't help but love her sophisticated style at events like these – she always seems to get it right. For the casual photo op, Emma chose a sleeveless Proenza Schouler Resort 2010 dress with a stunning jeweled bib collar. Try creating the look yourself with a tank like Autumn Cashmere's Foil Print Tank in Limestone Silver tucked into a skirt like Joe's Jeans Ollie Skirt in White, complemented by a collar necklace like Kuo Ting's Japanese White and Grey Pearl Necklace in Gold or add a pop of color with Castaway's Mauritius Necklace in Multi. Giuseppe Zanotti gladiator platforms in a similar shade complete Emma's afternoon look – so chic! What do you think of 19 year-old Emma's style? Emma put her style in her own words for the August issue of Teen Vogue: "It’s very hard to describe your own style and I’m young, so I’m still experimenting. But I think it’s quite British and very much about individuality. There’s nothing interesting about looking perfect—you lose the point. You want what you’re wearing to say something about you, about who you are.” Emma will be doing a lot of Harry Potter promoting as the July 15 release date gets closer, and I can't wait to see how she'll continue to define her personal style. If you can't get enough Harry Potter, read up on the new movie and check out stills here, and get ready for the London and NYC premieres this week!
Emma Watson seen on Jun 03 2009 in London, UK. Who’s that trendy new girl on the block? I’m having trouble picturing her as anything other than her annoyingly smart Harry Potter persona, but Emma Watson has grown into quite a sophisticated young lady! Attending a private dinner for Rodarte at Harvey Nichols in London on June 3, Emma worked the sidewalk like a runway as she gracefully made her way from her ride to the party. Selecting a chic frock infused with elements of rock n’ roll with a draped azure sash, tie-dye and netting skirt and a seductive sheer bodice straight off the Rodarte Spring 2009 runway, Emma paired the glamorous dress with sophisticated white and black Chanel heels from the Spring 2009 collection (if you love the look try CoutureCandy’s options like Tricia Fix’s similarly draped Angelina Cocktail Dress in Black or Prairie New York’s beautiful blue Eden Dress in Fountain or the Stone Cami Dress in Fountain). Tres chic! What do you think of the way Emma styled it versus the edgy runway look? While she looks fabulous at this event, mingling with fashionista celebs including Kate Bosworth, it’s surprising to see for her age this isn’t the only high profile fashion circle Emma runs in these days: the 19 year old star was recently named the new face of Burberry, and also had the opportunity to pose for French fashion mag Crash in a spread directed by Karl Lagerfeld. She gushed to the magazine about spending the day with the man behind Chanel, “This was a dream come true… We spent the whole day together and he can talk about anything - literature, art, science, modern culture. I was totally seduced.” When did Emma Watson stop being an awkward teen a turn into such a sophisticated little lady? I’m really quite impressed! What do you think of her transformation?
