Dream Girls

Set in the turbulent late 1960's, the film, based on the 1960's Broadway musical, follows the rise of a promising female trio: Effie (Jennifer Hudson), Deena (Beyonce Knowles) and Lorrell (Anika Noni Rose) who call themselves the Dreamettes. The girls are discovered at a talent show by determined manager Cutis Taylor Jr. (Jamie Foxx) who promises to make them the next set of back-up singers for big-time singer James "Thunder" Early, played by Eddie Murphy. The girls rise to stardom and some find themselves in the spotlight more the others. In their struggle for notoriety in a very competitive business, the girls learn the price of fame and fortune.
