Not letting a little rain impact her social life, Hayden Panettiere came out to support her friend Elijah Blue, aka Cher's son, at an event he hosted at the Kantor Gallery in Hollywood on February 24. HP arrived in a cozy charcoal cardigan with a criss-cross attached scarf (check out CoutureCandy's cozy options for chilly weather like Ella Moss' Viola Cocoon in Charcoal) over a plain white tee, distressed skinnies (check out Siwy's Rose Drainpipe Skinny Jeans in Wonder) and black side zip ankle boots (try Martha Davis' Superhero Short Boot in Black ). Very laidback and comfy, but what caught my eye was Hayden's gorgeous sapphire blue studded tote (turn heads with a similarly bold bag like Laura Matthews Designs' Pony Hair Satchel in Blue). As usual Hayden pulled her hair back in a tight pony – I seriously don't think she's worn it down since she cut it short last year! She also tried out red lipstick for the night, which ages her quite a bit but I actually don't think it's a bad thing – you can only look and act the part of a 16 year old cheerleader for so long! As many of you may know, Hayden has long been a vocal activist to protect marine life around the globe, speaking out to protect dolphins as often as possible and even getting arrested for protesting in Japan in 2007. In this month's issue of Self magazine, HP took to the cover to speak out about her role in the new documentary The Cove and how she believes she'll make a difference: “I left knowing I’m not going to let those dolphins die in vain. Their deaths will help show the world the big picture. I’ve also taken a lot of trips to D.C. and met with senators about the issue. I even met with Barack Obama, when he was campaigning. He said he grew up in Hawaii so dolphins and whales are very close to him. I knew I had two minutes to reel off what I wanted to get across. He was larger than life and so nice. Laws and politics—that’s where things change.” Doesn't hurt when you have the big man in the White House on your side either!
