FETE D'CHANEL

Diane Kruger seen on Nov 04 2009 in New York, NY. Is there ever a time that Diane Kruger doesn't look absolutely radiant? The beautiful fashionista had her hands full last week, attending several sartorial events in LA and NYC, including the annual “Fête d’Hiver” Benefit at Four Seasons Restaurant on November 4, hosted by Chanel Fine Jewelry. As expected Di arrived in a sparkling midnight blue Chanel Couture Fall 2009 dress, modified from the full length runway version to show off a flared peplum skirt and sophisticated cap sleeves (sparkle is everywhere this holiday season, so get your shine on with LaROK's Sequined Rolly Dress in Black topped with Voom by Joy Han's Sequin Bolero in Black, or for a more youthful look try Alice + Olivia's Sequin Stripe Dress in White/Black). Adding a few well chosen accessories, DK carried a black skinny clutch (love the texture of Elaine Turner's Allie Clutch in Black) and wore a plain skinny silver bracelet and ring. I'm not a fan of the long necklace – a shorter style or none at all would have been better to let the dress speak for itself. What do you think of the sparkly look? Other stars attending the event benefitting the Society of Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center's pediatric wing included the always beautiful Blake Lively and Project Runway judge Nina Garcia. At the event DK told the press why she enjoy working with the classic couture house, "I work with Chanel as an ambassador for the brand and they're one of the few who always give back. I usually only go out when I have a movie to promote… When you're a girl you have to think about what to wear — it becomes a lot." But it's never to much when you have an endless array of Chanel gowns to choose from!

BOW OBSESSED BABE

Diane Kruger seen on Oct 30 2009 in Los Angeles, CA. Choosing to be under rather than overdressed, Diane Kruger plays it casual at the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Event at Chateau Marmont in LA on October 30. DK has a penchant for adding bows wherever they fit, and her trademark continued at this event with a quirky bow placed at the bottom of the Henley placket on her baby blue blouse (bow lovers, get your fix with options like Generra's Bow Dress in Black, Tt Collection's Nina Skirt in Black or Tt Collection's Audry Dress in Black). Di tucked her top into button up sailor shorts, pairing the look with girly black & tan Mary Janes and a chain strap python purse, most likely Chanel (I adore Danielle Nicole's Kristi Clutch in Black Patent/Lambskin which also comes in 5 candy colored hues). I think if anyone besides Diane tried to pull off the bow blouse it would be horribly executed, but somehow DK gives it a flirty, feminine vibe. What do you think, can she make this work? Since her transition from modeling to acting with her breakthrough in Troy, Diane has lit up the silver screen with roles in both National Treasure flicks and most recently Quentin Tarantino's Inglourious Basterds. It was recently announced she will star in Unknown White Male with Liam Neeson and January Jones, which according to Variety "centers on a man who awakens from a coma to find that someone else has assumed his identity, and no one, including his wife, believes him." The film is loosely based on a documentary released under the same name in 2005, telling the true story of a British man who woke up on the New York subway one morning with no memory of who he was or how he got there. Filming begins in Di's native Berlin in January, which had to be a selling point for her. Can't wait to see her on set style!

WOOED BY WU

Diane Kruger seen on Oct 27 2009 in West Hollywood, CA. Joining his many hot young Hollywood fans, Diane Kruger came out in support of designer Jason Wu at the preview of his Spring 2010 collection in West Hollywood on October 27. Diane arrived in a peppery gray fur coat (oh no she di'int!), which she removed once she headed inside Palihouse and got seated for the Vogue sponsored dinner party. Do you think the fur is unnecessary on the West coast in 70+ degree temps or is it all in the name of fashion? After the coat check Di unveiled a gorgeous green and black dot printed dress with a one shoulder neckline covered in dazzling Swarovski crystal accents (polka dot lovers try Susana Monaco's String Dress in Mod Dot or Pink Polka Dot's Kelly Floral Top in Green). I love Jason Wu and this look is made for Diane, although I'd remove the excess material on the front for someone else. DK completed the look with satin Roger Vivier heels, a shiny Hunting Season clutch (try Laura Matthews Designs' Patent & Lucite Clutch in Black) and a glittering bracelet (try Michele Michel's Heart Pearl Bracelet in Gray). What do you think of Di's look, magnificent or would you do it differently? At the event, DK had some very lovely things to say to the LA Times about the designer of the evening: "I love Jason. He's made a couple of really gorgeous dresses for me over the last few months. I think every dress he's ever made fits really great. I couldn't pick a favorite...every dress he does is sexy yet traditional. It appeals to young girls, but also to an older customer, too. He's like Chanel in that way." I agree completely with her that his dresses are amazingly tailored to her figure, but I'm not sure if I get the Chanel reference. Do you think Wu has a shot at designing items that can be on the same level as Chanel's timeless, classic pieces or will it take time to tell?

SANTA BARBARA SWEET

Diane Kruger seen on Oct 22 2009 in Santa Barbara, CA. Appearing on the red carpet after a noticeable absence, Diane Kruger was looking like her gorgeous self at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival on October 22 at the Biltmore Four Seasons Hotel in Santa Barbara, CA. Arriving in a heavily Karl Lagerfeld influenced 'fit, Di paired a chic LBD (like C&C California's Nicolette Dress in Black or Suzabelle's Noir Knit Dress in Black) with black and white tuxedo ankle boots with flirty bow tie finishes. Love the elegant chain strap purse (like Danielle Nicole's Kristi Clutch in Black Patent/Lamb) and simple bracelet (add a little femme touch with Queen Baby by King Baby Studio's Rose Motif Bracelet in Silver) accessorizing this look very minimally – do you think this no-frills look works for her? DK made her way to Santa Barbara to support director Quentin Tarantino, who she became close with after filming Inglourious Basterds. Diane told the press: “He took a leap of faith on an actress who has so far only played Helen of Troy and did National Treasure. He sees me completely different. I feel Quentin gave me a great gift. No matter what impact this movie has on my career, or if it turns into a box office hit or not, I feel like I won the lottery.” How sweet of her!

MS. NOBODY IN VENICE

Diane Kruger seen on Sep 11 2009 in Venice, Italy. You can always count on Diane Kruger to light up the red carpet, and she was on fire at the Venice International Film Festival in Italy on September 11. In contrast to the title of the premiere she attended for Mr. Nobody, Di was definitely somebody in her gorgeous Christopher Kane olive and black trimmed dress with an accordion skirt and sheer yoke neckline (capture the futuristic look with Walter's structured Shiny Foil Twill Bustier Dress in Gunmetal or Tricia Fix's liquid flowy Emily Mini Dress in Black). Paired with the orb shaped booties, it's a match made in heaven. As usual, Diane didn't overdo it with her accessories, opting for a slender matching cuff (like CC Skye's Carson Cuff in Black) with a chic box clutch (carry something sassy like Golden Bleu's Charley Clutch in Black or Danielle Nicole's Lindsay Clutch in Black). On top of it all the loose waves pulled into a side pony are a great casual complement to the look. What do you think of DK's 'fit? Earlier in the day D also attended a photocall in a much edgier look - but as usual, she pulls it off. What do you think of the studded combat boots? I haven't heard much hype about Diane's latest appearance as Anna in Mr. Nobody, but IMDb describes is as an existential film about a man named Nemo Nobody (Jared Leto) waking up 100 years later to find himself the oldest man in the world, as he continues to ponder the possible life outcomes he could have had. Watch the trailer here. The film technique is very interesting but to be honest, I'm not really sure if I get it… what do you think? Either way I'll still happily watch to see how Diane is as one of Nemo's many wives!

URBAN CHIC

Diane Kruger seen on Aug 17 2009 in New York, NY. Looking a little more hipster than usual, Diane Kruger made her way to MTV Studios for an appearance on “It’s On with Alexa Chung” on August 17 in NYC. While doing her interview, Alexa bestowed her fellow Twilight freak friend with a highly coveted gift basket with all sorts of goodies related to the flick. I'm not all that crazy about the vampire scene – how bad do you fans want to get your hands on the gifts pictured with Diane? Playing off a youthful vibe for the younger crowd, Di picked an Urban Outfitters ditsy floral dress with a high waist skinny belt (try pairing Cake Couture's Ikat Print Tank Dress in As Shown or Karen Zambos' Richie Dress in Red Cloud with a sleek skinny belt like Pellemelle's The Skinny Belt in Brown). Love the old fashioned full skirt with the n.d.c. Sunday boots – it balances the feminine look with a dash of edge, don't you think? A Diane Kruger 'fit wouldn't be complete without a touch of Chanel, and the model-turned-actress carried a cream quilted bag with a chain strap (get the femme look with Julie K's Gigi Mini Bag in Pewter). For the finishing touch Di pinned the front of her hair back and added a few curls for an easy, carefree style. I love that DK can go from uber glam one night to uber casual the next with hardly any effort. What do you think, is she workin' this? I never would have thought Alexa and Diane have similar taste, but as many fashion blogs are pointing out this week, they've actually worn the same pieces a few times in the past – Diane wore the white dress Alexa is wearing on the show only a few days prior! What do you think, is one of them a style copy-cat or does this just reveal they're friends off camera?

DI DOWN UNDER

Diane Kruger seen on Aug 02 2009 in Melbourne & Sydney, Australia. Heading to Australia on the world press tour for Inglourious Basterds, Diane Kruger dazzles on the red carpet in Melbourne on August 2 and Sydney on August 3. A former model turned actress known for her impeccable taste, Di adds even more laurels to her style credentials after successfully pulling off two very masculine and feminine looks. Making a bold statement on her first night Down Under, Di arrived in head-to-toe Chanel (clearly heavily influenced by her friendship with Uncle Karl) complete with skinny black trousers, a sleeveless white button down (try Zoa's sheer Pleated Sleeveless Tunic Blouse in White), suspenders and a bow tie. It's not the first time she's opted for bows on the red carpet, but she still keeps this difficult-to-pull-off style fresh. Her swept back hair, smoky eyes and nude lips are perfectly balanced for the 'fit, and she nailed the accessories too with Christian Louboutin peep-toe Mary Janes and a simple black clutch (GoldenBleu's Amanda Clutch in Black/White would be adorable with a black & white 'fit). I'm not usually a fan of pantsuits for premieres but I actually think this one is tasteful – thoughts? The following night DK made her way to Sydney and channeled a completely different look in a red asymmetrical Marchesa mini (crimson lovers indulge in Interlud's Stitch Hem Halter Dress in Red or Black Halo's Bustier Detail Pleated Mini Dress in Cranberry) paired with stunning Loub pumps. The glamorous look is breathtaking, especially in contrast to her 'fit from the previous night, don't you think? Again, Di got it right with loose waves in her hair, a studded statement cuff (make your own with CC Skye's Bardot Cuff in Gold or Black and simple pewter clutch. I really love how the dress folds – she works it! Obviously these are two very different looks, so weigh in, CoutureCandy readers – which one do you think Diane wears better?

DIANE'S DESIGNER DUDS

Diane Kruger seen on Jul 28 2009 in Berlin, Germany. Back in her native Germany, Diane Kruger was spotted looking gorgeous in Berlin at the Inglorious Basterds photocall at the Hotel Adlon Kempinski on July 28. Earlier in the week, Diane was spotted doing a little shopping at The Corner boutique also wearing the same sunny yellow shade. It's a bright shade to be repetitive with but it looks great with her complexion! For the photocall, Diane picked a strapless Louis Vuitton mini with military style brass buttons on the front (get your yellow fix with Woo's Sol Dress in Warm Sun, Alice + Olivia's Floral Poof Dress in Yellow, or Sky's Selena Mini Dress in Sunshine), paired with tan strappy sandals and gold twist earrings (Amy DiGregorio's Buckingham Road Earrings in Gold Vermeil have a gorgeous shape that will complement any 'fit). I think the frock is a great balance for the photocall – not too overdone but it definitely helps her stand out from the cast! For her shopping trip, Diane opted for a more eclectic vibe, rocking a Stella McCartney Resort 2010 'fit with a tucked in lemon tank and striped navy skirt (pump it up with Karen Zambo's Greta Skirt in Electric Blue or stay true to stripes with Joe's Jeans' Ollie Skirt in White) with metallic flats and a spiky statement necklace. The ivory quilted Chanel bag adds a nice classy touch for a casual shopping spree! Which look is your favorite? While Inglorious Basterds won't open in US theaters until August 21, the London and Berlin premieres have already come and gone as Diane makes her way around the globe with co-star Brad Pitt and director Quentin Tarantino. I just can't help but wonder who styles her – she always looks so polished, as she did in Balmain at the London premiere last week. What do you readers think of Diane's red carpet style?

BALMAINIA CONTINUES

Diane Kruger seen on Jul 23 2009 in London, England. Diane Kruger was spotted vogueing for the cameras as she appeared on the red carpet for the premiere of her newest film, Inglourious Basterds, in London earlier today, July 23, and it seems that Balmainia shows no signs of slowing down. For the event, Diane chose a black Balmain mini with a sweetheart neckline from the Fall 2009 collection, and accentuated it with an edgy chain belt and Christian Louboutin's Very Prive Studded Peep-Toe Pumps. For a more economical approach to Diane's killer look, start with a sexy LBD, like Sky's Cat and Ring Minster Mini Dress in Black, Shumaq's Marrisa Dress in Black, or Rachel Pally's Fortuna Dress in Black. Then accessorize it up with a chain belt (the contrast of Jack Rabbit Collection's Chain Belt in White could be cool) and a stand-alone black bracelet and you'll be all set. What are your thoughts on Diane's look here, do you think that she's rockin' the Balmain mini dress, or should she have gone a little more formal for such an important premiere? For those of you readers who are Quentin Tarantino fans, I'm sure you are eagerly awaiting the release of this movie on August 21. It takes place during the period of the Second World War, and also stars Brad Pitt who plays "a US officer who leads a band of Jewish American around Europe, taking bloody revenge on Nazis during the war." Hmmm, the film definitely sounds interesting - are any of you CoutureCandy readers planning on checking it out?

BREAKING OUT

Diane Kruger seen on Jul 02 2009 in Berlin, Germany. Diane Kruger was spotted soaking up the fashion at Mercedes-Benz Berlin Fashion Week in Berlin, Germany on July 2, opting for an uber casual outfit for the day. Mingling with fellow fashion lovers at the Anja Gockel fashion show at the Bebelplatz backstage tent, DK kept it classy as always. Diane started with a pair of slouchy short-shorts (try Johnson's Silk Shorts with Cuff in Brown) and matched them with a feminine, cream lace top (check out the lace detailing on Ingwa Melero's Galina Top in Opal or Catherine Malandrino's Lace Embroidered Flower Tank in Ivory) and nude, strappy heels. DK allowed the statement top to speak for itself and downplayed her accessories, opting for only a simple watch and a leather shoulder bag (like Carla Mancini's Hobo with Front Lock in Yellow). What are your thoughts about Diane's 'fit at fashion week - are you feeling this super-summery look on her? While Diane has starred in a number of widely seen pictures, she has yet to really break out on her own as a leading actress. However, this might change with the release of her upcoming flick Inglourious Basterds, co-starring Brad Pitt and directed by Quentin Tarantino. What are your thoughts... any Diane fans out there, or anyone who is anxious to check out this film?

RED, BLACK AND WU

Diane Kruger seen on Jun 15 2009 in New York, NY. She's always a flawless fashionista, but Diane Kruger looked particularly stunning at this year's CFDA Awards held at the Alice Tully Hall in Lincoln Center in NYC on June 15. Posing with pal Jason Wu in a fiery custom made frock from the designer himself, Diane topped the Best Dressed lists with this look. Perfectly complementing the bold red dress (try Black Halo's Bustier Detail Pleated Mini Dress in Persimmon) with a black skinny belt (try Linea Pelle's Skinny Multi Hole Hip and Waist Belt in Black) complementing the scalloped, beaded shoulder accents, Diane chose edgy bondage heels, a slender clutch (like Julie K's Sarah Clutch in Black Glaze) and a wristful of Tom Binns' Pearls in Peril bracelets (check out Alex and Ani's Joie de Vivre Expandable Wire Bangle Set in Gold) to put her signature spin on the look. I don't know what else to say except that this look is flawless – do any of you disagree? Though Diane supported her man Jason Wu, nominated for the Emerging Talent award, he didn't take home the accolades but the woman who made him famous did. Although Michelle Obama couldn't attend, she received the CFDA Board of Directors' Special Tribute award. Can't say I disagree – the First Lady has breathed fashion back into politics in a perfectly non-discriminatory way. Her favorite designers range from Wu to Michael Kors and J Crew – quite a range of styles there! Which high and low end designers do you wear together?
