Taking care of business, Katie Holmes stopped by Maxfield in Beverly Hills, CA on October 18. Her new line Holmes & Yang is being sold exclusively there, and I heard Katie's collection is on display in the window of the store this week – have any of you seen it? KH headed to check on her new venture in charcoal skinny jeans (try Rich & Skinny's Sleek Jean in Silverado) with a preppy argyle sweater (start warm this winter in James Perse's Boyfriend Sweater in Midnight or Walter's Intarsia Knit Sweater in Blue/Black). Katie accessorized with a cute black buckled tote (similar to Carla Mancini's Satchel Bag in Black) and low heeled pumps with a ruffled tongue. What do you think of her 'fit – is it too preppy or does it work for her? Katie has officially fulfilled her designing dreams now that she and style Jeanne Yang have their line for sale at Maxfield, telling the press recently: "It has been my dream forever to be in fashion and I’m truly inspired by my daughter Suri. She just loves dressing up so I decided to launch this exciting venture with Jeanne." Katie has said from the beginning the line is inspired by her daughter, which has always puzzled me a little bit – why would a 30 year old woman want to wear clothes inspired by a 3 year old? I'll have to bite my tongue until I see official photos of her line, which isn't for sale online yet. It was reported earlier in the fall that Maxfield dropped Katie's pal Victoria Beckham's dVb line to make room for Katie's turn to try design – no major shock there, as it seems like there's a new celebrity designer every week.
