Demi Lovato made an appearance at the Drama Free School Year assembly that was held at The Young Women's Leadership School in East Harlem, NY on September 20, for the announcement that the young starlet is now the official ambassador for "Mean Stinks." The program, which asks girls to pledge to have a "Drama Free School Year" by making a pinky swear, was symbolized by wearing blue nail polish on their pinky fingers. Such an awesome and cute idea! For her promotional appearance, Demi wore a nude romper (for a similar option, try Vena Cava's Cat People Romper in Beige, or for one in a brighter color, try Zoa's Sueded Romper in Blue) under a leather biker jacket (similar to Velvet's Harley Jacket in Black; for an eco-friendly option, check out Free People's Vegan Leather Jacket in Black), and then accessorized with a pair of sky high black platforms and a cute top knot hairstyle. Are you digging Demi's outfit on this occasion, readers? At the event, Demi spoke out about how the cause caught her attention. According to Demi: "I heard about the program last year, and thought it was such a great opportunity. Theyíre really trying to put an end to bullying. Iíll definitely be wearing [the nail polish] starting soon. Itís a conversation starter: ĎHey, why is your pinky blue?í ĎThis is a pinky promise that Iím not going to bully people, that me and my friends are ganging up for good.í" So cool! It's amazing that all of these stars are using their public persona for such good causes.

She says: "This is an ongoing process, and the hardest part about these diseases is that theyíre things that Iím going to have to face every day for the rest of my life." Demi did say that she's come a long way in her battle with bulimia, anorexia, self-mutilation, depression and bipolar disorder, as she continues: "Iím going to mess up, and Iím not going to be perfect. But as long as I try every day to get better and better myself, then Iím one step ahead of where I was before. They are issues that every girl deals with. Cutting has become so common with so many girls, and in almost every family, people have tried it or experimented with it. And there is addiction all over the place. Still, it doesnít make it easier being in front of cameras while Iím trying to be in recovery from an eating disorder. I thought, 'Music is something that keeps me healthy and that has saved my life at one point.' I love it, and Iím not going to give it up." Glad to hear you're focused on getting healthy and remaining passionate about music, D!
