CURLS AREN'T FOR EVERYONE

Lightening up for the red carpet, Katie Holmes steps out at the premiere of The Extra Man in New York City on July 19. In this comedy, Katie plays a demure vegan who attracts the advances of a meat-eating co-worker. Entertaining I'm sure! Katie arrived at the premiere in a bright red and navy nautical-esque dress (try a more flattering striped silhouette like Suzabelle's Altamira Chevron Dress in Sailor Stripe or Splendid's Venice Stripe Pocket Tee in Atlantic) with black pumps embellished with a silver buckle (try a more playful look for summer like Coye Nokes' Grace Wedge in Black Patent). The shoes are a little too pilgrim inspired for me, but I do like that Katie added a casual charm necklace to break up the stripes (add a quirky touch with a unique necklace like Robyn Rhodes' Katie Rutilated Drop with Leaf Necklace in Moonstone). Just wish the dress had a little more shape! What are your thoughts on Katie's "Extra" look, does it do her justice? I'm all for trying out new looks, but I just have to ask, what's up with the mop of curls on her head? Definitely a bad weave at the very least! Katie is in the midst of filming The Kennedys in Toronto, where she's been spotted wearing a classic bob and pearls Jackie O made so fashionable, but this bears no resemblance to the refined styles Katie has been wearing on set. Wonder if this is a permanent change for her – are you feeling it or do you prefer her with straightened locks?
