Jessica Alba makes a pretty, polished statement on the red carpet of the CNN Heroes: An All-Star Tribute event at the Shrine Auditorium in LA on November 20. Jessica's husband Cash Warren escorted her to the annual event, which honors ordinary citizens around the world for making a difference in their communities. Jess arrived at the event in a pretty black and ivory brushstroke plaid printed frock with slimming taupe panels at the sides (try Twelfth Street by Cynthia Vincent's Cami Dress with Piping in Multi or Jenny Han's Strapless Party Dress in Festive to mix prints and solids at your next event) with demure taupe heels (try KORS Michael Kors' Julian Patent Pump in Sand). Jessica wore her hair pulled back in a sleek chignon, adding a gorgeous statement necklace (like Amrita Singh's Faye Necklace in Gunmetal/Jet) to complete the look. What are your thoughts on Jessica's frock, does it work for her figure or do you think it makes her look a little lacking in the bust region? I just wish she didn't blend into the beige press wall so much, it's distracting from what is otherwise a very pretty look for her. In other Alba news, the full transcript from Jessica's interview with Elle magazine was released this week, delving more into the context in which Jess made what some considered a snide comment that "good actors never use [scripts]." In the interview, Jess went on to say that she nearly quit acting all together after her Fantastic Four director Tim Story gave her some shallow advice during an emotional scene: "[He told me] 'It looks too real. It looks too painful. Can you be prettier when you cry? Cry pretty, Jessica.'" She continued, "And then it all got me thinking: Am I not good enough? Are my instincts and my emotions not good enough? Am I not allowed to be a person in my work? And so I just said, 'F**k it. I don't care about this business anymore.'" Talk about an intense day at work! Wonder what changed her mind and kept her from retiring?

I read that interview and thought her "snide" comment was an observation, something she learned watching seasoned actors.
By the way, I hate that dress.guest on Nov 23 2010 @ 04:08 PM
