In case you’re wondering what Jessica Simpson looks like on stage at a country fair, here are two ‘fits she put together while performing over the weekend in Dixon, CA on May 8 (right ) and San Antonio, TX on May 9 (left). The dances moves in the photo on the left are almost as frightening to me as that awful oversized patchwork vest (try the much cuter Hippie Vest in Sand by Lotta Stensson over a white blouse like Walter’s White Poplin Button Front Top in White) with her over-worn micro-mini Daisy Dukes (keep it classy with William Rast’s cuffed Scarlet Short in Dark Handsand Holes). Seriously, the only thing appealing about the Dukes of Hazzard was Jessica’s smoking hot bod, so now that she’s lost her um, toned physique, it just doesn’t do the trademark shorts justice. The belly peaking out says it all. Jess completed her ‘fit with tan peeptoe wedges and a chunky pair of sterling silver earrings (Michele Michel’s Babe Citrine Earrings in Silver would look great dressed up or down). The night before, Jessica played up a more ladylike look at the Dixon May Fair near Sacramento, flaunting her best assets in a floral bustier dress with a pleated skirt (flaunt your figure with Black Halo’s Kelly Dress in Black or 3J Workshop’s Naomi Obi Dress in Black). At first glance it looks like she’s wearing a jacket with it, but the black part is connected to the top of the bust – what do you think of the collared style? Complementing the frock with strappy black heels (one of the only pairs of footwear I’ve seen Jess in that I actually like) and similar silver chandelier earrings, I think the look on the right is decidedly more flattering. One thing that ruins both looks: the droopy half curled hair. The shoulder length style makes Jess look like a tired poodle, in my opinion. What do you think of both looks? At Sea World, Jessica came under fire for taking part in the “Bud & BBQ” country music event series after PETA asked her not to perform to protest Sea World’s many animals held in captivity. Their rep attacked Jess for going through with her performance at the animal park that supposedly has one of the worst animal care records in the business. For all the normal backlash Jess gets over her weight and ditzy comments, it seems kind of random for PETA to come out and attack an irrelevant pop-turned-country star for this. Then again, does anyone listen to what PETA has to say anymore?
