COCKTAILS AT SUNSET

Stepping out for charity, Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick left their new twin babies with the nanny and made their way to Bridgehampon, NY on July 18 for an AIDS Community Research Initiative of America (ACRIA) charity event held at photog Stephen Klein's sprawling estate. While it's good for them to put on a happy face, Sarah and Matt are looking just a little too picture perfect here, don't you think? I can't help but look at them together and want to paste Big's face over Matt's – now THAT would be a cute couple! In true Carrie Bradshaw style, SJP arrived at the "Cocktails at Sunset" event styled to perfection. Although the charity benefit was hosted by Calvin Klein and Vanity Fair, SJP chose to wear a stunning Temperly London strapless dress with a ruched bodice and gold zipper front (for similar strapless looks, check out Rachel Pally's Iris Dress in Periwinkle or Rebecca Taylor's bold Tequila Bingo Dress in Kiwi), accenting the frock with a layered gold chain necklace (Robyn Rhodes' Grace Necklace in Gold is timeless) and a few bangles. Her studded Miu Miu platforms are gorgeous, but I truly adore her beaded floral clutch pulling the 'fit together. Do you think she's completely working this look or am I misguided? At the event, SJP and MB snacked on grilled cheese and sliders apps (carbs are finally making a comeback!) while mingling with Calvin Klein designers Francisco Costa and Italo Zucchelli hoping to score some new threads. If you’re thinking they both look it a little worn out, it probably has something to do with the arrival of their twin girls born a month ago. While the fam has been settling in with the new babies, Sarah and Matthew are unfortunately dealing with a legal scandal surrounding their surrogate mother. The poor woman had her Ohio house broken into while she was 8 months pregnant by greedy cops looking to dig up dirt to sell to the tabloids. Police chiefs Barry Carpenter and Chad Dojack were arrested on July 28 and arraigned on several counts of burglary and tampering with evidence, which could land them in the pen for 14-21 years. When news of the burglary broke in June, MB's publicist commented: "Matthew and Sarah Jessica have complete faith in the legal system. But because it's a criminal investigation, we will not be making any more comment. What I can say is the entire family looks forward to the healthy delivery of their daughters later on this summer." At least justice is on its way to being served, but what a terrible mess for SJP to deal with!
