Getting giggly with Liv Tyler, Kate Hudson posed with her pal at the Burberry reopening party in Beverly Hills on Oct 20. While reading up on the latest gossip in Kateís tumultuous life, I was quite surprised to stumble upon a mention that she received Elleís Style Icon award earlier this year. Am I alone when I say I think there are more deserving celeb fashionistas than she? Not that Kate has bad style or anything - itís just not exactly groundbreaking, or even trendsetting. That said she has the body to rock a lot of looks not everyone can pull off, but out of all the trendy celebs out there, should we really be aspiring to follow her fashion footsteps? I was skeptical but after seeing this look from last week, Iím convinced that Kate does truly possess some style finesse. Wearing a Burberry mustard yellow mini made of a crinkly sateen fabric (check out Zoaís Pleated Dress in Eve Green), Kate kept her look very simple with sheer black nylons and strappy black platform heels (try the cool complementary shade of Matikoís Bailey Pump in Grey Patent). With unpolished nails and natural make-up, Kate let her blonde layers fall loosely around her face, allowing her sunny smile to become the focus of the ensemble. Despite my opinion that she looks radiant as ever here, Kate has come under fire from the fashion police regarding the fit of this frock Ė what do you think, does the boxy shape work for her? Besides her shopping endeavors, Kate is currently filming Nine in London with a slew of stars from Nicole Kidman to Penelope Cruz, putting together what will surely be the next big musical hit in Hollywood. Personally, Iím not a fan of singing and dancing unless itís viewed live, but with an all-star cast and a special role created just for Kate, I have a feeling this one will be different. Any thoughts?

If the dress was made out of fabric instead of gold foil wrapping paper, I'd like the hem to be an inch longer.guest on Oct 26 2008 @ 11:02 PM

Disagree. It is fabulous. Great color, great fabric, great look! I am scared to see actresses who think they can sing attempt a musical... so scary.
I think the fit is unique and funky. Why do we have to wear body hugging dresses all the time? It's about fashion, man! Not sex. Fashion is art.
I have a passion for fashion.guest on Oct 27 2008 @ 03:36 PM

i quite like the outfit, and thought i agree the fabric is a little foil-y, i like it. i would, however, prefer a different neckline, and for it to be a little longer.guest on Oct 28 2008 @ 05:44 PM

Kate = not good. Liv = stunning. I remember when Kate came to Australia and she wore a cherry Collette Dinnigan gown at a film premiere in Sydney... now that was stunning.guest on Oct 28 2008 @ 08:25 PM
