Resurfacing in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on January 31, Katie Holmes enjoyed a relaxing day at the beach with Suri and Tom Cruise. Stepping out of the glamorous Copacabana Palace Hotel in an irresistible cornflower blue dress (Ecoganik’s Pocket Tunic Dress in Horizon Blue or Woo’s Michelle Dress in Pool Blue would be equally cute), Katie towered over her height challenged hubby in summery slingbacks. Layering the dress over a nautical one-piece swimsuit (like Letarte’s Seahorse Halter Onepiece in Seahorse Print), Kat wore a colorful patterned headscarf (try A Graves’ Lock and Key Italian Silk Scarf in Turquoise) and chic oversized sunnies. Personally I think the ‘fit is adorable, and I’m glad to see Kat adding some color back into her wardrobe. What do you think of the heels with the dress – too dressy, or perfect? More than anything, it’s refreshing to see Katie looking perky again. A lot of you commented on how gaunt and worn-out Katie was looking after a few months on Broadway, and it’s a relief to see her looking healthy and enjoying herself again. She explained her weight loss recently: "My metabolism was in full gear the whole time. I lose weight fast when I'm working so hard. It doesn't matter how much I eat, I just get thin. It's not the worst problem in the world to have though is it?" After her last performance of “All My Sons,” Katie took some well deserved time off and gained a few pounds back before catching up with Tom in Europe for the premieres of Valkyrie in Berlin and London. From there Katie returned to LA for the SAG Awards before the whole family cruised south to Brazil for a few days of fun in the sun, checking out a few of Brazil’s amazing beaches. TomKat headed south for the press conference and premiere of Valkyrie, continuing on Tom’s worldwide promo tour. Seems like an exhausting life, but little Suri is so adorable I’m sure it makes it all worth it. It’s clear Katie enjoys being a mom, and it’s good to see her out and about enjoying herself again! Do you think she looks noticeably happier?
