BIKER BASICS

Enjoying a quiet afternoon at the beach, Olivia Wilde and husband Tao Ruspoli went on a leisurely bike ride on Santa Monica, CA on August 15. While some might go for a bikini and shorts, O stayed warm in the unseasonably chilly weather in a loose button down (keep it cool in Wit.'s Resort Sailor Tunic in Blue/White) and faded bootcut jeans (you can't go wrong with a classic fit like 7 For All Mankind's Bootcut Jean in New York Dark, but if you're an avid biker keep your cuffs clear of the chains with Paige Premium Denim's Hidden Hills Straight Leg in Omega), keeping her toes safe in trusty Chuck Taylors. Olivia polished off her uber casual look with a windblown ponytail and tinted aviator, smiling at the paps she's about to bike over. O looks like she's a pro on her beach cruiser, unlike another notorious LA resident who had some two wheeler troubles last month. LA isn't known for having great bike routes, and Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa learned that the hard way after he was knocked off his ride by a taxi while biking in Venice Beach last month. Luckily he's okay, but after returning to work this week he's already announced a plan to build over 200 miles of bike lanes in the next 5 years. That should give Olivia – and other bike savvy celebs like Rachel McAdams and Jessica Alba – something to smile about!
