Mary-Kate and Ashley Fuller Olsen were born June 13, 1986 in Sherman Oaks, California to David and Jarnette Olsen. In 1987, at only nine months old, they began their acting career playing Michelle Tanner on the sitcom, Full House. As the show’s audience grew, the twins acquired television popularity second only to Bill Cosby.
In 1995, when Full House was canceled, Olsen twins went on to further their movie career (which began in 1992 with Grandmother's House We Go) and begin their music career. After making two albums, five movies, and a production company called Dualstar Productions, the twins went on to start a clothing line in 2001, which debuted at Kmart. Since then, they have released their first major motion picture, A New York Minute.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, I don't care how many people think MK looks homeless or weird, I love her style! The thing I love about Mary Kate is that she is just so unique, you could never imagine seeing her outfits on any other young starlets, no matter how hard they may try! In aviators, leopard print wedges, a weathered Balenciaga and an obviously vintage "Puerto Rico" shirt she must have had custom made into a dress, MK is a true original. While running errands in Beverly Hills, it's finally good to see this Olsen not hiding behind a bodyguard or all of her shopping bags, show off that fashion sense, girl!
You say what does this picture of a sweat shop have to do with multimillionaire twins? Apparently, they have not made enough money quite yet and have just invested in this cake decorating shop that is ultra hip with celebrities in Los Angeles. Seems like a strange investment for someone who has an eating disorder. Their new slogan can be “Cakes on hand, binge and purge”
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Aug 07 2013 in Oslo, Norway. Mary-Kate Olsen and Ashley Olsen were photographed at a photo call for the launch of their latest fashion collaboration, this time with Scandinavian brand Bik Bok that was held in Oslo, Norway on August 7. For their promotional looks, let's start with MK. The tiny twin kept it simple by pairing a black blazer (like Donna Mizani's Boyfriend Blazer in Black) with a heather grey t-shirt (Lanston's Slit Back V Neck in HG is similar) and a pair of faded black/dark grey skinny jeans (try James Jeans' James Twiggy in Slate II), and then slipped into a pair of demure black kitten heels to finish things off. Ashley, on the other hand, put a little more effort into her look. She paired a black silk blouse (for a grey option, check out Fifteen-Twenty's Contrast Shirt in Grey/Black) with sleek trousers (get the look with Kay Unger New York's Tuxedo Pant in Black), and then accessorized with a printed scarf (like Mangrove's Bold Scarf in Blue) and a pair of pink heels. Those shoes are probably the last pair I would have expected AO to wear here, but I think they strangely work. What are your thoughts on their ensembles here, everyone? At the event, Ashley dished on the collaboration with the brand, saying: "We’ve enjoyed the design process with the Bik Bok team and are excited to visit Oslo and Stockholm to launch the first of three collections in August." Previously, MK chimed in: "Ashley and I are thrilled with our Fall 2013 Bik Bok collaboration. We feel the collection reflects our personal style and will connect with the Scandinavian girl." Are any of you familiar with the line?
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Jun 22 2013 in Los Angeles, CA. Mary-Kate Olsen was seen looking chic in all black as she made her way through LAX yesterday, June 22, while doing her best to ignore the paparazzi and make it to her flight. For her airport ensemble, MK kept it simple in a pair of black skinny jeans (like Earnest Sewn's Esra in Light Jet) and black loafers, and then added on a black jacket (try Vava by Joy Han's Terry Jacket in Black) and a pair of oversized black sunglasses. A deep blue crocodile tote (for a similar look, check out Julie K Handbags' Laura in Teal Boa) and a dainty red bracelet on her right wrist (like Avanessi's One Love Cord Bracelet) finished off her travel-worthy look. What are your thoughts on this look for Mary-Kate everyone, simple and great for traveling, or a bit basic and boring? In other Olsen news, MK recently spoke out about her latest shoe venture! She and her sister Ashley are co-chairs for the shoe brand Superga, and have announced that they are launching a photo and video style diary called "If These Shoes Could Talk." They have teamed up with fashion industry heavy hitters Garance Doré and The Sartorialist for this project, of which Mary-Kate says: "This series, 'If These Shoes Can Talk,' shows how versatile the Superga brand is. Even with it’s traditional roots, Superga style is always evolving." Are any of you interested in checking this out?
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Apr 22 2013 in New York, NY. Ashley Olsen was caught by the paparazzi as she headed into the Greenwich Hotel in NYC on April 22, followed closely by her twin sis Mary-Kate for their afternoon outing. For her street style on this occasion, Ashley started by pairing faded black TEXTILE Elizabeth and James skinny jeans (get a faded wash similar to Ashley's pair by checking out Black Orchid's Black Jewel Mid Rise Skinny in Hematite) and then wore a grey t-shirt topped off with a plaid flannel shirt (like Rails' Devyn Shirt in Pink/Grey) and a black blazer (try Donna Mizani's Boyfriend Blazer in Black). From there, AO added on a neutral scarf (Love Quotes' LInen Tassel Scarf in Chardonnay is similar) and a pair of oversized sunnies, and finished things off with black boots and an easy topknot. Thoughts on this look for Ashley, everyone? In other Olsen news, the twin sisters were recently spotted at a secret Rolling Stones show in LA, and the duo apparently turned heads due to their "makeup-free faces." According to Huffington Post," "MK and her sister, Ashley, attended a special Rolling Stones concert in Los Angeles over the weekend, a surprise club gig that VIPs like the Olsens would know about. While Ashley got slightly dressed-up in a shiny red jacket and a statement necklace, Mary-Kate stuck with an oversized beige jacket with an even baggier shirt underneath. She also appears to have skipped makeup entirely. Love it or hate it, that's just how these low-maintenance sisters roll." Props to MK for skipping the pounds of makeup, fresh faced is a refreshing change from time to time.
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Mar 11 2013 in New York, NY. Mary-Kate Olsen and her sis Ashley Olsen were photographed out and about in NYC on March 11, and the tiny twins were seen heading into a business meeting in the Tribeca neighborhood. Breaking down the looks individually, let's start with MK. Going the "dressier" route over sister Ashley, Mary-Kate donned a black fur coat... shocker! For a faux option, check out True Grit's Swirl Shawl Jacket in Black. From there, she added on a black scarf and a medium wash pair of ripped skinny jeans. Get the look with Hudson Jeans' Krista Jean in Blondie. Black strappy heels and a crocodile tote bag finished off Mary-Kate's outfit. Ashley, on the other hand, went for a more conservative look that started with a long black overcoat (for something similar, check out Vava by Joy Han's Terry Coat in Black). From there, she wore a white blouse with a high neck, along with a pair of black trousers (try Kay Unger New York's Tuxedo Pant in Black for an equally polished option) and black loafers. A structured black bag completed Ashley's 'fit. Side note, did any one else notice that the twins are wearing what look to be the exact same sunglasses? I guess they couldn't agree on who loved them more, so they both bought them! Whose style do you like better on this occasion, everyone?
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Dec 13 2012 in Los Angeles, CA. Ashley Olsen was spotted making her way through LAX on December 13, and was accompanied by her twin sis Mary-Kate for the outbound flight to NYC. For her airport look, Ashley started with a pair of cropped black skinny jeans (get the look with Hudson Jeans' Black Skinny) and then wore a basic black t-shirt (try Michael Stars' Crew Neck Tee in Black) under a cozy looking coat (stay warm with True Grit's Swirl Shawl Jacket in Black). On the accessories side, Ash kept it pretty simple - she toted a black crocodile bag and slipped into a pair of black sneakers. Black on black on black! A pair of shades and a gold necklace (similar to Liz Larios' Talisman Necklace in Matte Gold) completed Ashley's airport ensemble. What are your thoughts, everyone - is this something you would wear while jetting cross country? Ashley recently took the time out of her busy schedule to chat with WWD about her holiday plans, and said: "I’m really ready for Christmas, which I’ll be spending at home with my family." Very cute! How are all of you planning on spending the holidays this year?
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Oct 19 2012 in New York, NY. Well here's someone we haven't seen in a while! Mary-Kate Olsen was snapped doing some shopping in NYC's SoHo neighborhood on October 19 - the word is, she has since allegedly holed up at The Carlyle hotel (along with VOGUE's Grace Coddington) since hurricane Sandy struck. For her shopping trip back on the 19th with sister Ashley, who was seen exiting the same store minutes after MK, the pint-sized twin opted for an edgy, all-black ensemble. Starting with a voluminous fur (for a fur-free option, try Vava by Joy Han's cozy Terry Jacket in Black), MK then wore a pair of skinny leather pants (very similar to Joe's Jeans' Leather Pant in Black) and flat black boots (for a tall pair of classic boots, check out Report's Duke Boot in Black). Accessory wise, MK toted two bags from her line The Row (for one that's similar to the croc bag on her right arm, check out Julie K Handbags' Jacqui Black Cobra) and sported a pair of black aviator sunglasses, and finished things off with a pair of silver earrings. You can't go wrong with all black everything - what's your take on Mary-Kate's look here? As I'm sure you've heard, MK has recently been dating the much older Olivier Sarkozy (she's 26, he's 42) and she's stayed quite mum on the relationship... until now. MK opened up to the Wall Street Journal, saying: "Everyone has an opinion. I find it's better to focus on what's in front of you and to keep putting one foot in front of the other." Way to stay vague, MK!
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Jul 27 2012 in New York, NY. Ashley Olsen was seen keeping it casual as she made her way around NYC on July 27, opting for a simple all-black ensemble that she accessorized with a midnight blue crocodile bag. Starting with a pair of basic black leggings (like Hale Bob's Solid Legging in Black, Ashley wore a black tank (try Michael Stars' Scoop Muscle in Black) under a slouchy black top (for something similar, check out Free People's Rib Long Sleeve Tee in Black), and then slipped into one of her favorite shoe choices, her Birkenstocks. A pair of oversized shades (Ray-Ban's Cockpit Sunglasses in Gunmetal are great) added the finishing touch to AO's ensemble. Although it's simple, do you like her look here? The former "Full House" star has been pretty under the radar lately, although she was spotted by an insider recently at Prime in Huntington. According to the source, "The actress and fashionista, who was not with her twin sister and design partner, Mary-Kate, was wearing a black bomber jacket over a maxi dress. Joined by friends, she dined on sushi, salads and strip steak. At the end of the meal, everyone shared an assortment of desserts." Sounds delicious!
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Jun 24 2012 in Los Angeles, CA. Mary-Kate Olsen was seen heading through LAX on June 24, keeping her outfit to all-black (with the exception of her favorite Haider Ackermann brocade oxford shoes, which she was also seen sporting on May 4). For her airport outfit, MK wrapped herself up in a flowy scarf (check out Love Quotes' Hand Tied Tassel Scarf in Maritime) and a leather jacket (get the look with Velvet's Harley Jacket in Black), and then wore her favorite pair of distressed Earnest Sewn jeans. For a killer pair of denim from Earnest Sewn, check out the Audrey Skinny in Coated Black. From there, a black leather tote, a monogrammed hat, and a pair of Ray Ban New Wayfarers in Black finished off MK's ensemble. In other news, I'm sure you've heard that the former "Full House" star has been dating the much-older, 43 year old Olivier Sarkozy. One person who is not a fan of the pairing? Mary-Kate's father! According to a source, "Mary-Kate looks more like Olivier's daughter than girlfriend, and her dad is fuming over the relationship. While her twin sister Ashley has dated older guys, Mary-Kate hasn't, and her father is deeply concerned that Olivier is wrong as her new boyfriend. David found out that Olivier's been targeting younger women and is suspicious of his true intentions. He doesn't want Mary-Kate to be used." Do you see these two going the distance?
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on May 09 2012 in Beverly Hills, CA. Ashley Olsen was spotted by the paparazzi as she left a morning of pampering at Beverly Hills Nail Design on May 9, and in typical Olsen fashion, Ashley tried to keep a low key profile and make it to her car while avoiding the paps' ever-present flashbulbs. For her nail salon ensemble, Ashley kept her outfit minimal chic, as she paired a flowing white maxi with a knit sweater, a pair of black leather sandals, and a few standout accessories. To get AO's look here, try wearing Eternal Sunshine Creations' Ivory Maxi Dress under One Teaspoon's Wild Thorn Knit Top in Nude, and then pay special attention to your accessories. Ashley opted for a bold gold cuff, which you can achieve by stacking Danielle Stevens Jewelry's Single Engraved Bangle in Gold, and a green gemstone ring when it comes to jewelry, and toted a leather bag that almost looks to be navy. If that's the case, check out Zambos & Siega's Mansfield in Navy. A pair of circular sunglasses provided the finishing touch to Ashley's outfit. What are your thoughts, everyone - would you try to replicate this look?
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on May 04 2012 in New York, NY. Mary-Kate Olsen was seen leaving a furniture store in NYC on May 4, keeping up with her quirky sense of style as the paparazzi snapped away. For her look, MK paired a black quilted jacket with a patterned scarf (try Distinkt's Nicole Scarf in Geometric), and then slipped into a pair of faded black skinny jeans (like JET by John Eshaya's Faded Skinny in Black, or for a waxy option, try Earnest Sewn's Audrey Skinny in Coated Black) and a pair of pink lace-up flats. A pair of Ray-Ban New Wayfarers in Black completed Mary-Kate's ensemble. What's your take on this look, everyone - yay or nay? In other Olsen news, MK recently spoke to Elle UK about her clothing line with sister Ashley, and celebrity clothing lines in general. Says MK: "Of course we knew about the trend of celebrities as designers, but we'd done that already when we were much younger. I don't understand the new idea of designers as celebrities either. To me, the Phoebe Philo [Celine designer] kind of modesty is the way to go. We love beautiful things. That's the only driving impulse." Thoughts on MK's point of view?
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Mar 15 2012 in Santa Monica, CA. Ashley Olsen made an appearance at the Santa Monica Museum of Art’s Precognito Gala and preview event that was held on March 15, and politely posed for the event photographers before enjoying her cultural evening. Ashley wore The Row's chic, oversized Fessing Wool Coat for the evening (for another equally stunning and fashion forward coat, try Sue Wong's Embellished Cocoon Coat in White), along with a black turtleneck sweater (like Bobi's Turtleneck Long Sleeve in Black) and a long cream scarf (check out Tart's Adia Scarf in Ivory). From there, Ashley wore a pair of skinny black pants (similar to Level 99's Lily Twill in Black) and a pair of black pointed toe Manolo Blahnik slingbacks. Yay or nay on this outfit for Ashley, everyone? Ashley was recently on the cover of Elle UK along with sister Mary-Kate (although each girl had her own cover), and discussed (yet again) how she is a perfectionist. As you may remember, Ash discussed her perfectionist nature back in October 2010, and she's at it again! AO tells Elle UK: "We are perfectionists. We’ve always wanted to be closely involved with everything, totally hands on – that’s why it works. If we step away, it stops working. I know it sounds controlling, but that’s how it has to be." Crack the whip, Ash!
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Feb 15 2012 in New York, NY. Mary-Kate Olsen was photographed heading to the J. Mendel show at New York Fashion Week on February 15, sticking to an all-black look with only a hint of color (from her striped top). For her ensemble, MK wore a pair of black wide leg pants (try Three Dots' Wide Leg in Black) with a pair of clunky black boots and a cozy black jacket (check out True Grit's Long Shawl Coat in Black). Under her coat, Mary-Kate opted for a navy and white striped top (similar to either Ella Moss' Ashby Henley Top in Black or Bailey 44's Uneven Scoop Tee in Navy/White), and then added on a black crocodile handbag (most likely from The Row) and a pair of oversized black sunglasses. Thoughts on this look, everyone? While the famous twins were spotted sitting front row at the J. Mendel show, famous bloggers The Fug Girls were confused by who was who. I think it's crazy that fashion journalists STILL can't tell the difference between Mary-Kate and Ashley, but I guess it's true. Writes The Fug Girls: "The pint-sized designers leaned the same way to talk to the same people, smiled the same half-grins whenever something amused them, and generally made it impossible to discern which was which (our tell is usually the eyebrows, but the shades quickly nixed that strategy). “Is that one Mary-Kate?” we heard one photographer ask. “Yes,” said his friend. “Wait, no. Wait, yes. No?” We never settled it." Sheesh!
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Jan 25 2012 in New York, NY. Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen attended a jcpenny event for their lower-priced brand Olsenboye that was held at Pier 57 in NYC on January 25, looking pretty and stylish as they posed for photographers. I can't recall MK looking this polished and non-grungy/bohemian in quite some time... I think from her sleek hair to her simple, streamlined ensemble that she looks fab! Mary-Kate chose a long, well-tailored black coat for her look, which she accentuated with sheer black tights, a pair of black platforms and a vibrant bag from her collection for The Row. As you know, the Olsens love their furs - for a faux option, try Tracy Reese's Faux Fur Long Jacket in Brown; True Grit's Long Shawl Coat in Black is also similar to Mary-Kate's. Ashley, on the other hand, opted for sophisticated black trousers (like Nanette Lepore's Le Palace Pant in Black) with an interestingly patterned blouse (I'm loving Lotta Stensson's Poet Blouse in Art Deco) and a black pair of her favorite embellished Manolo Blahnik heels. Ashley also carried a handbag from The Row's collection, the same one that MK had but in black. Both girls (well, from what we can see of Mary-Kate) decided to go jewelry-free for the event. Who do you think got their look better here, everyone? In other Olsen news, it seems that the twins have hired Prada's United States president and CEO Francois Kress to head up their label The Row. Mary-Kate told WWD: "He quickly became the obvious choice for us and for the brand, having experience in multiple categories which we feel is essential for growth of The Row." Ashley went on to say, "His experience and sensibility will add great value to The Row in its next phase of development." Anyone else curious to see where MK&A (and Francois!) will take The Row in the future?
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Dec 18 2011 in New York, NY. Ashley Olsen was snapped heading to a waiting car in NYC on December 18, wearing one of her many fur coats to stay warm. You have to admit, as much as PETA slams them for wearing fur, they obviously don't mind and continue to do so. What do you think - should MK & A give up their dedication to fur? To get the look with a faux fur option, check out The Battalion's Antoine in Sable. In addition to her fur coat, Ashley wore a pair of black skinny jeans (such as Hudson Jeans' Collin Skinny Jean in Jet Black or Fidelity Denim's Manhattan in Black) with black boots, and topped off her look with a scarf (try Pashma's Triple Bohemia Scarf in Multi for something similar) and a pair of aviator sunglasses. Overall thoughts on this ensemble, everyone? In other Olsen news, it seems that the twins' $39,000 backpack has landed them on TIME's "Top 10 Animal Stories" of the year! According to the magazine, "They may be ubiquitous, but the Olsen twins find themselves on this list because of a business venture. As outlandish as it may sound, the sisters' latest handbag line featured a backpack with alligator skin that was yours for a mere $39,000. Amanda Brooks, fashion director of Barneys New York, said, 'I think if you were ever going to spend $39,000 on a bag, that's the bag you should buy, because I think you'd wear it for a really long time.'" It's actually pretty funny that they are still making headlines for this backpack.
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Nov 25 2011 in West Hollywood, CA. Mary-Kate Olsen was photographed leaving a lunch of caviar and blinis at Petrossian Restaurant in West Hollywood on November 25, looking quite cozy as she made her way to her car. For her daytime outfit, MK started with a classic pair of black denim (like Joe's Jeans' Skinny Visionair Jean in Becca) that she tucked into a pair of knee-high black leather boots (for a great pair of tall wedge boots, check out Tila March's Pressions Suede Wedge Boot in Navy), and then wore a black long sleeve tee and brown jacket. For two similar options to MK's, try either True Grit's Suede Ruff Jacket in Brown or BB Dakota's Izzy in Cognac. In true Mary-Kate form, she added on a few key accessories, such as aviators and a statement gold ring, to complete her ensemble. What are your thoughts on her look here, friends? As I'm sure you've heard, Mary-Kate and Ashley's younger sister Elizabeth had quite a good year in 2011, due in part to her breakthrough role in the film Martha Marcy May Marlene. Elizabeth recently spoke to Marie Claire about her famous family, and even said that between her and her sisters, she is the "curvy" one! Says Elizabeth: "I'm the curvy one of the family. It's very clear that I'm the younger sister. I've always had a complex about being taken seriously. I never wanted anyone to think that I would use my family name to get me anywhere." Regarding her current living situation, Elizabeth said that she "lives in a one bedroom apartment in NYC. It's like a closet. I need to stop doing independent films so I don't have to live in 300 square feet." I love that Elizabeth is making it on her own, because let's face it, could you imagine growing up under the shadow of MK & A?
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Nov 07 2011 in New York, NY. Ashley Olsen made an appearance on the red carpet for the Cool Comedy - Hot Cuisine Event that benefited the Scleroderma Research Foundation and was held at Caroline's On Broadway in NYC on November 7. Keeping it casual for the carpet, Ashley paired black skinny jeans (like Siwy's Hannah Jean in It's Magic) with a flowy silk blouse (try Hale Bob's Silk Chiffon Top in Black) and blazer (check out Tibi's Velveteen Blazer in Black), with just a hint of her black bra peeking out. From there, Ashley wore a pair of jeweled Manolo Blahnik mules and toted one of the handbags from her collection The Row, and finished off her ensemble with a few simple gold rings (check out Avanessi's Halo Ring in Yellow Gold). Minimal makeup and a slightly disheveled 'do completed her look. What are your thoughts here, everyone - effortless and cool, or a bit lackluster for the red carpet? At the event, Ashley was reunited with her TV dad, Bob Saget from "Full House." It's always interesting seeing pictures of Mary-Kate and Ashley with her former "Full House" co-stars, they have all changed so much!
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Nov 03 2011 in New York, NY. Mary-Kate Olsen was spotted shielding her face from photogs as she made her way out of an office building in New York on November 3, in an all-black 'fit with a pop of autumnal color. Wearing a pair of black skinny jeans (like Levi's Made & Crafted's Empire High Skinny in Black) with a warm black leather jacket with fur paneling (try My Tribe's Leather and Fur Jacket in Black for something similar), MK then wore a pair of black aviators and toted one of her favorite vintage Hermes bags. A striped scarf (the colors in Pashma's Triple Bohemia Scarf in Multi are similar) and black strappy sandals (check out Plenty by Tracy Reese's Zac Sandal in Black) paired with black tights completed Mary-Kate's ensemble. What are your thoughts on this look, everyone - yay or nay? In MK romance news, it's been reported that the fashionable twin was recently seen getting cozy with funnyman Jason Sudeikis. According to an insider: "Mary-Kate was spotted with Jason at the Stone Rose Lounge. While Ashley was busy chatting up Brett Ratner, Eddie Murphy and Casey Affleck, Mary-Kate stuck by Jason's side all night long. They were laughing and having a great time together all night. It was cute." MK's rep then spoke to E! Online about the evening, and kept the statement brief. "Ashley, Mary-Kate and Jason were all at the afterparty. We all hung out together as I work with all of them. That is the extent to it." And there you have it? Something tells me that there's more to the story...
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Oct 11 2011 in New York, NY. Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen showed up at the New York Film Festival - held at The Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall in NYC on October 11 - to lend their support for little sis Elizabeth Olsen, whose film Martha Marcy May Marlene was being screened. The twins decided on mutually furry ensembles for their film festival appearance, and let's start with MK's look. Pairing a brown leather jacket with fur arms (for two options that remind me of MK's jacket, check out either BB Dakota's Hunter Leather Jacket in Cognac or Sachin + Babi for Ankasa's Svetlana Jacket in Brown) over a printed, colorful maxi (like Sky's Halter Deep V Maxi Dress in Wine), MK toted a black leather handbag from her handbag line for The Row. Dark eye shadow and taupe lips completed Mary-Kate's look. Ashley, on the other hand, exhibits a chic way to mix black with brown, as she wore a black fur coat (ditch the fur and opt for something more unique, such as Sue Wong's Pleated Multi-Tiered Coat in Black) over a black maxi (try The Battalion's Lace Maxi Tank Dress in Black) and carried a black The Row handbag. From there, a pair of brown crocodile slingbacks and minimal makeup completed Ashley's look. Which twin's style are you liking the most here, everyone? While Mary-Kate and Ashley's style may not be in everyone's taste, it's definitely very interesting to see that - just like us - they repeat outfits that they like. Take, for example, the printed maxi dress that MK is wearing here. Well, it seems as though she's so into this piece at the moment, that one public appearance in it simply wasn't enough. Mary-Kate donned this unique garment again six days later, at the New York Academy of Art's 20th annual Take Home a Nude benefit. Is this dress special enough to wear twice, when it will be photographed on two separate occasions? Readers weigh in!
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Oct 05 2011 in New York, NY. It was triple Olsen vision at the Nylon and A|X Armani Exchange dinner in NYC on October 5, as twins Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen showed up to support their younger - and taller! - sister Elizabeth Olsen, who is turning out to be a breakout star in her own right. It might just be me, but Elizabeth looks as if she could almost be a triplet of the famous twins, except for the whole height thing. She definitely shares MK&A's golden locks, baby blue eyes and high cheekbones, that's for sure! For their outfits, let's start with Ashley. Wearing medium wash skinny jeans (like Kasil Workshop's Benatar in Hitchhiker), Ashley wore a printed rust colored cardigan (if you're a fan of this shade for fall, try Free People's Yarn Shell Cardigan Sweater in Cayenne) and toted a black leather handbag that's presumably from her and MK's handbag line. Camel slingbacks and rings galore finished off her look. Mary-Kate, on the other hand, was obviously having a black moment and wore what looks to be a black maxi dress with black sandals and a lust-worthy black leather jacket. To emulate MK's look, try pairing Meghan Los Angeles' Faith Long Dress in Black with Aaron Ashe's Baker St. Jacket in Black. Mary-Kate's tote almost appears to be the same bag that Ash is carrying, right? Finally, Elizabeth chose a floral printed Erdem skirt (for something similar yet a bit shorter, try Desigual's TS Mantra in Black) paired with a simple black Acne t-shirt (like Joe's Jeans' Dasha Short Sleeve Tee in Black). Which Olsen sis had your favorite look, readers?
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Sep 08 2011 in New York, NY. Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen were photographed posing on the pink carpet of the JCPenney / People StyleWatch 'Miss for a Must' Event in NYC on September 8, rocking similar yet completely different looks as they pouted for the cameras. Starting with MK, she slipped into a pair of leather trousers (similar to Lauren Conrad below - for a similar pair, try Yoana Baraschi's Faux Leather and Knit Legging in Black) and then wore an oversized black blazer (try Tibi's Velveteen Blazer in Black) and a pair of brown and black patterned booties. Ashley, on the other hand, opted for a for a metallic silk dress (for something a tad shorter, check out Aaron Ashe's Abbey Road Dress in Metallic) under a blazer similar to Mary-Kate's (for another option, try Nanette Lepore's Le Smoking Jacket in Black). From there, a sleek hairstyle and printed pumps completed her look. Who do you think got it right here, MK or A? While it was a given that the twins would be spotted left and right at New York Fashion Week, it came as a surprise (actually, not a HUGE surprise) that Mary-Kate is not a fan of Lindsay Lohan. At the V Magazine bash - yes, the one where Lohan now infamously threw a drink at the V photographer - a source says that MK "flipped" when she was seated at a table across from Linds. Says an insider: "Mary-Kate immediately asked the hostess to find her a different table, but there wasn't anything open. She looked so upset about her seat and kept looking over at Lindsay. Then, MKO was overheard saying 'I really don't want to be here right now.'" Ha! But let's get real, if I were Mary-Kate I wouldn't be too excited to have La Lohan that close to me either!
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Aug 27 2011 in New York, NY. Mary-Kate Olsen was photographed leaving The Bowery Hotel in NYC on August 27, and is apparently still in her button-down phase. MK wore her favorite pair of Earnest Sewn skinny jeans (for a similar pair, grab either Current/Elliot's The Skinny Jean in Loved or Kasil Workshop's Benatar in Hitchhiker) along with an oversized white button-down (like Robbi & Nikki's Jersey Contrast Blouse in White), and then slipped into a pair of black heels. Toting a black leather handbag, MK accessorized with a black and gold watch, a pair of black aviators, and her favorite green and gold gemstone ring. For a similar look, try Femme Metale Jewelry's Carnelian Caged Gem Ring in Red. The Olsens seem to be all over the press lately for their numerous fashion lines, with Mary-Kate recently speaking out to British newspaper The Telegraph about their line The Row. Says MK: "It's not fast fashion. We pay so much attention to the fit and the quality and the details. It takes a lot of discipline. But we've always been very driven, and we enjoy what we do. It's what we know." Ashley went on to elaborate about how the twins used to have adult clothes from high fashion designers such as Chanel altered to fit their petite frames. She said: "We loved it! We'd go through racks and racks of clothes, and hours of fittings. When you cut something down that small, it has to be precise. So we've always been really interested in fit. And over the years we've become more educated in fabrics and make, and appreciating those small details. That's where we start from now, always - what feels right." Have any of you tried on any pieces from Mary-Kate and Ashley's lines?
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Aug 11 2011 in New York, NY. Stepping out from her NYC apartment on August 11, Ashley Olsen made sure to keep hydrated as she carried along a bottle of Evian for her day's adventures. Outfit wise, AO opted for a pair of rust colored Textile Elizabeth & James jeans (go the colorful route with a shade that's perfect to segue from summer to fall, such as Tag Jeans' Potter High Rise in Grape or Rich & Skinny's Legacy Jeans in Desert Gold) and a baggy, oversized tee (for a polished version of the oversized look, check out Joe's Jeans' Rexi Pullover in Black), and then added on a pair of Chanel sandals with a kitten heel and a black clutch. Jewelry wise, Ash wore her favorite gold Rolex along with a long gold necklace (try Danielle Stevens Jewelry's Peace Out Necklace in Gold), a gemstone ring, and a delicate bangle. A pair of classic Ray-Ban aviators polished off Ashley's NYC ensemble. While the Olsen twins are cognizant of keeping the prices on their various apparel lines affordable - i.e. their line of StyleMint t-shirts which retail for $30 each - it also seems as though the girls can't resist marking up certain items to the max. Case in point, the $39,000 crocodile backpack from their handbag line The Row. $39,000 for a backpack??? As Joan Rivers recently said on "Fashion Police," "There better be $38,990 inside the backpack!" But really, is this for real?
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Jul 22 2011 in New York, NY. Mary-Kate Olsen was papped while out and about in NYC on July 22, and the tiny twin seemed to be quite the handbag juggler! MK was seen carrying not one, not two, but THREE huge handbags as she went along her way - that's a bit much, even for her! Wearing a pair of grey Earnest Sewn skinny jeans (Level 99's Skinny Jegging in Collection are similar) and a bright patterned blouse (for something just as vibrant, pick either Jenny Han's Smock Neck Blouse or Desigual's Cotton Top in Print), MK then chose an oversized pair of black sunnies and wore a black and rose gold watch. For the finishing touches, she chose a pair of black heels (for a unique pair with a similar silhouette, try Jil Sander's Full Calf Elastic Heel in Brown/Multi) and multiple rings. It seems like we've been seeing tons of candids of both Mary-Kate and Ashley out and about lately, how are you feeling about this look everyone? In other Olsen news, the girls are teaming up with the popular TOMS Shoes for an upcoming collection with The Row! However, the shoes in the collection aren't just going to be any old TOMS; Mary-Kate and Ashley are using luxurious fabrics such as Italian wool and cashmere for the shoes. This is going to definitely mean a price increase, and word is that The Row X TOMS will retail for around $150. Of course, just like the original TOMS, for every pair sold a child in need will receive a pair. What do you think, are you interested in checking out this new collaboration?
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Jul 14 2011 in New York, NY. Mary-Kate Olsen was snapped out and about in the West Village on July 14, appearing to be quite windblown as she made her way around NYC. For her outfit breakdown, MK started with her favorite pair of Earnest Sewn skinny jeans (get a similar pair with Rich & Skinny's Sleek Five Pocket Jean in Celestial Blue) and then wore an oversized striped button down (like JET by John Eshaya's Boyfriend Stripe Shirt in Navy), in addition to a pair of black shades and leather motorcycle boots (similar to Giuseppe Zanotti's Motorcycle Boot in Black). Up next, Mary-Kate toted a large leather caryall (similar to Julie K Handbags' Robin in Black) and carried her trusty BlackBerry, and then - in typical MK fashion - piled on the jewelry. Starting with a dainty silver necklace, Mary-Kate wore a silver serpent ring (just like Femme Metale Jewelry's Serpent Ring in Silver) and then piled on the silver bangles with her gold Rolex. For a statement making bracelet that would totally work for an Olsen-inspired ensemble, check out Saundra Messinger's Bark Textured Cuff with Diamonds. Are you feeling Mary-Kate's outfit here, readers? It seems that the Olsens are everywhere these days, as they've been busy promoting their latest project StyleMint. Recently, Mary-Kate and Ashley both sat down to interview each other for Barney's New York's blog. For the interview, Ashley asked: "Do you have a style philosophy? For whom do you dress?" Mary-Kate's response? "I dress for me and usually whatever suits my mood." Ashley: "If you could raid any person’s wardrobe (alive or dead), who would it be?" Mary-Kate: "Picasso." Ashley: "What current trend would you like to see disappear?" Mary-Kate: "My problem is not with the trends themselves, but the fact that trends are constantly repeating themselves." Ashley: "Where do you go and what do you do to unwind?" Mary-Kate: "I like to travel when I can, which isn’t often. Otherwise, I like to be at home in New York with friends." Interesting stuff! I would have never guessed that Picasso's closet is the one that MK would want to raid.
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Jul 05 2011 in New York, NY. Photographed running errands in NYC on July 5, Mary-Kate Olsen listened to music (in one ear!) as she went about her day. MK's casual outfit started with a great fitting pair of Earnest Sewn skinny jeans (almost identical to Rich & Skinny's Sleek Five Pocket Jean in Celestial Blue) and a coincidentally patriotic red, white and blue button up shirt - maybe MK was still feeling inspired by the 4th of July? For a similar, basic option here on CoutureCandy, try JET by John Eshaya's Boyfriend Stripe Shirt in Blue. From there, MK wore a pair of black boots and toted a black leather caryall (try Julie K Handbags' Robin in Black), and matched the red in her shirt to a vibrant red necklace. To get the look, try Amy DiGregorio's Thatcher Street Necklace in Coral. A bunch of bracelets and a pair of trademark oversized sunnies polished off MKO's ensemble. Thoughts, everyone? For those of you who are Olsen fans, you'll be pleased to hear that the dynamic duo was featured in the July issue of InStyle for their new business venture StyleMint.com, and MK filled in the blanks of some of the mag's questions. MK filled in the blanks with: "My look in one word... fun! Trend I'm loving right now... loafers. Trend I'll never try... You're asking the wrong girl. Piece I haven't worn in a year but can't throw out... an amazing Zandra Rhodes robe. I always splurge on... couture. I'm always drawn to... The right red, the right green. My perfect t-shirt: Feels like I've worn it for years. I dress it up with... An axtravagant skirt and bold earrings. On days off I wear it... in bed!" Cute!
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Jun 28 2011 in New York, NY. Spending some time in the Big Apple, Ashley Olsen was photographed out and about on June 28 toting her adorable French bulldog along with her for her daily activities. Keeping her ensemble breezy and casual, AO wore a flowy maxi dress (similar to Joie's Bellina Maxi in Grey) along with a pair of black and gold strappy sandals and a statement strand of black pearls. For two similar necklace options, take a look at Love Heals' Peacock Pearl Strand in Silver or Amy DiGregorio's Edgewater Drive Necklace in Powder Blue. From there, an oversized pair of black sunglasses and a caramel tote (for a similar shade with a slouchier silhouette, check out Julie K Handbags' Allison in Cognac) completed her 'fit. Thoughts, readers? For those of you who are Olsen fans, I'm sure you've heard that their new project, StyleMint, launched on July 1. The members-only site allows visitors a chance to get access to their new line of t-shirts, which are affordably priced at $30 each. Says Ashley: "There’s nothing better than a simple, chic and versatile T. When it’s done right, you just know. That’s what we do at StyleMint." Mary-Kate also chimed in, saying: "With StyleMint.com, Ashley and I have created an online experience reflecting our love of style and allowing us to engage with our customers directly, which is an inspiring new way for us to think and create as designers." Have any of you checked it out?

Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Feb 02 2011 in New York, NY. Sister sensations Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen were photographed happily posing at the launch of their line Textile Elizabeth and James, held at Tacombi in NYC on February 2. Before I get to the breakdown of MK & A's ensembles, I also wanted to mention that Elizabeth Olsen (the twins' sister and the Elizabeth in Elizabeth and James) attended the celebration as well, fresh off her much-buzzed-about visit to the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah. Aw, sisterly support! Love that. Starting with Mary-Kate, she paired an alligator vest from The Row's Resort collection (get a similar look in a cozy leather jacket, like Muu Baa's Soma Jacket in Black) with a pair of rust colored trousers from the Textile Elizabeth and James collection and a pair of pointed toe cutout heels. If you're liking the unexpected hue of MK's pants, check out Joe's Jeans' 29" Jegging in Poison. Ashley, on the other hand, started her look with a sweater with an interesting fox print - which Nylon dubs as Ashley possibly "making a subversive twist on the criticism she usually gets for wearing fur" - and a pair of cuffed pants that are also from the Textile Elizabeth and James collection (duh). For a pair that are similar, try Da-Nang's Skinny Gather Cargo Pant in Aloe. From there, Ashley added on a bevvy of bangles (get a pop of color with Assad Mounser's Nomad Bracelet in Pink) and a killer pair of ice blue Balenciaga heels. Nylon went so far as to call Ashley's ensemble their "Best Dressed of the Week," saying: "We're usually Team MK when the twins get together, but last night at Elizabeth & James' party for their new denim collection, our vote went for Ashley all the way." Who do you think looks best here, readers? Regarding the collection, Ashley said: "With the addition of Textile Elizabeth and James, the label offers a well-rounded collection of casual to dressy options for the trend conscious customer." Can't wait to see more!
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Jan 25 2011 in New York, NY. Spotted at an art show that was held at the New Museum on Bowery Street in NYC on January 25, Mary-Kate Olsen unsurprisingly opted for a furry look as she posed for photographers. MKO started with a grey fur coat (get a great winter white faux fur option with Sanctuary's Fur Jacket in Natural) and a metallic patterned scarf (try Free People's Forest Scarf in Multi Charcoal), and then wore a pair of custom made jeans by one of Mary-Kate's favorite stores, Maxfield in LA. While I'm all for finding a great pair of jeans that fit, I think having jeans custom made might just be a tad unnecessary. For a similar pair, try 7 For All Mankind's Gwenevere in Dusty Newsprint. To finish up her art opening ensemble, MKO toted her favorite vintage Hermes bag and wore a pair of black boots and a few rings (take a peek at Noir's Oliver the Owl Ring in Silver). Are you digging Mary-Kate's outfit here, everyone - or has her style become a bit too predictable lately? For those of you who are fans of the twins' line The Row, you might be excited to hear details about the new Pre-Fall 2011 collection. According to Style Bistro, "The Row Pre-Fall 2011 collection is a clear proof of Ashley and Mary-Kate Olsen's progress as designers. Still in muted color palette of dark neutrals and the occasional pop of camel or white, The Row Pre-Fall 2011 gives us a lot of pants. Straight-leg, wide-leg, skinny or short. In leather or wool. With simple tops or smart jackets. Plunging V-necklines are balanced out with long bottoms and the naive Peter Pan collars with the more aggressive leather shorts or skirt. And the maxis. Equipped with deep skirt slits, they add an alluring element to the collection. In this collection, balance is key." Sounds like another successful collection!
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Dec 27 2010 in Santa Monica, CA. Mary-Kate Olsen was photographed leaving a friend's house in Santa Monica on December 27, looking to do her best to avoid the paparazzi's incessant flashbulbs as she headed to her car. For her outfit, Mary-Kate started with a pair of skinny grey jeans (take your pick between Level 99's Skinny Jegging in Collection or Kill City's Junkie in Silver Fox Grey) and a cozy oversized sweater (like JET by John Eshaya's Fuzzy Sleeve Hoodie in Grey), and then wore a pair of chunky heeled pumps with a cute bow detail on top and a brown plaid scarf (check out Improvd's Scarf in Brown and Black). A pair of aviator sunglasses and a bunch of assorted bracelets and bangles in typical MK fashion (take a peek at Alex and Ani's Art Nouveau Limited Edition Bangle Set in Multi and Ettika's Braided Charm Wrap Bracelet in Neon) completed her polished ensemble. Is this look a winner in your eyes, everyone? I'd say it's a vast improvement from the last time we saw her! It may just be me, but this outfit totally reminds me of how MKO dressed a few years back, before her style became really disheveled. Don't get me wrong, Mary-Kate does disheveled chic like no one else, but I'm really liking this look here! What are your thoughts, CoutureCandy-istas?
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Dec 21 2010 in Culver City, CA. Mary-Kate Olsen was photographed braving the rain in the Culver City area of LA on December 21, taking a few minutes for a smoke break with sis Ashley outside of a brick building. Staying true to her eclectic sense of style, Mary-Kate wore a black fur coat, along with black flare pants, as the rain fell. This may just be me, but why on earth would you wear flare pants when it's raining? They would just absorb all of the water off the ground! Either way, if you happen to be inspired by MKO's ensemble here, opt for faux fur with Hard Tails' Fleece Fur Collar Jacket in Black and a pair of black flare jeans (like Work Custom Jeans' Jackson Painter Jean in Black). From there, the fashionable twin accessorized with a red cross body bag (get a similar look with Linea Pelle Collection's Dylan All Purpose Espresso Cross Body Clutch) and a ton of rings, as usual. It's good to see her wearing one of her favorite rings - I totally recognize that big green stone ring from over the years. For something similar, check our Megan Greene's Daphne Ring in Gold/Mint. How are you feeling about MK's major rain 'fit here, everyone? Is this ever something you'd want to wear while out running errands as the rain comes down?
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Nov 02 2010 in New York, NY. Caught by the paparazzi as she left Women's Wear Daily's 100 Anniversary Gala at Cipriani 42nd Street in NYC on November 2, Mary-Kate Olsen seemed to take full advantage of her voluminous scarf as a way to hide from the camera flashbulbs. Seen happily posing for photographers with sister Ashley inside the glamorous fete, it seems that the diminutive starlet has a different school of thought when it comes to giving the paparazzi a usable shot while strolling on the street. For her outfit, MK paired a black fur coat with a knee length dress and a big taupe scarf, along with her favorite vintage Hermes handbag and a pair of unique heels. She also incorporated a blue and white plaid piece into her ensemble - is it a long sleeved button up shirt? - along with a pair of sunglasses and zig zag patterned tights. To emulate Mary-Kate's look and make it a bit more wearable, try opting for a chic knee length black dress (like either Single Dress' Tailored Dress with Belt in Black or Suzabelle's Charleston Dress in Black) paired with uniquely patterned tights and a warm coat (skip the fur and opt for Luc by Lucy's Kitty Cat Coat in Black). From there, accessorize with a great handbag and stay warm with Aude's Michelle Scarf in White. I'd love to hear what you have to say about MK's ensemble here, everyone... people either love the Olsens' style, or they hate it! In other Olsen twins news, the girls are expanding their fashion empire once again. It was recently announced that Mary-Kate and Ashley are now adding handbags and shoes to their popular line The Row, as Ashley says: "It would be a proper American luxury brand, made in America, with retail business and maybe collaborations with other brands." Are any of you excited for this new division of The Row?
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Oct 06 2010 in Paris, France. In Paris, France for her the presentation of her clothing line - The Row - at Paris Fashion Week, Ashley Olsen took full advantage of the City of Lights by doing some shopping at Celine on October 6. For her French look, Ashley paired a fur coat (get the warmth without the fur with Suzabelle's Lark Wool Jacket in Creme) with leather leggings (Corson's Interlock Legging in Black are a great basic) and what appears to be a sheer maxi skirt (Tt Collection's Tiffany Long Skirt in Black is quite interesting if you're in the market for a new maxi skirt for the fall season). Finishing up her ensemble, Ashley slipped into a pair of pointed toe black pumps, toted her favorite Hermes bag, and wore oversized sunglasses along with a gold watch and rose gold bangle (like Jules Smith's Super Stud Bangle in Rose Gold). What are your thoughts on Ashley's look here, everyone? While it's clear that MK & A's love of fur isn't going anywhere, the girls are obviously getting used to getting flack from animal rights groups such as PETA for their public displays of fur. I've asked this question so many times before but am always inclined to ask it again - what is your standpoint on wearing the real thing? Do you think Ashley looks chic here, or are you on the other end of the spectrum? Weigh in in the comments section! In related news, the girls were set to take the Parisian fashion world by storm with their latest collection for The Row, and said: "The design process usually starts up with a conversation. It's really about finding what's next and what categories to explore. I think we became perfectionists at a young age so, for us, the fit is so important." Did any of you check out the shots from this runway show, and if so, what did you think?
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Sep 24 2010 in New York, NY. Doing their part to boost the economy, tiny twins Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen were photographed shopping at the Alexander McQueen boutique in New York City's Meatpacking District on September 24. Staying close together as they tried to avoid the photographers, MK & A were definitely keeping busy as their day included all sorts of errands and multiple stops. For their outfits, let's start with Ashley. She paired a super comfy and cozy looking grey sweater (try Twisted Heart's Fallen Angel Sweater in Heather) with a pretty floral printed mini skirt and a pair of round black sunnies. From there, Ash slipped into a pair of black suede pumps and toted a black leather bag with gold chain strap detailing, and finished things off with a few delicate rings. Mary-Kate, on the other hand, paired a geometric printed mini skirt with a chic black blazer (check out Moschino Cheap and Chic's Cady Belted Blazer in Black), her vintage Hermes handbag, a menswear watch and a pair of pointy toed heels. For a few stylish skirts here on CoutureCandy that are reminiscent of MK & A's look, check out RaMona LaRue's exotic Alicia Skirt in Black Giraffe or Wit.'s Banded Mini Skirt in Grey. What are you feeling about these twin looks here, readers? Which style do you prefer? In pretty exciting news for the girls, it seems that the Olsens have FINALLY unloaded their NYC penthouse that has been on the market for over six years. It's about time! The girls bought the five-bedroom, 4.5-bath Morton Square penthouse for $7.3 million back in 2005 when they moved to NYC to attend college, and ended up never even living there. The penthouse recently sold for $7.7 million to real estate mogul Ian Bruce Eichner. According to The New York Observer, "The designer duo, whose Elizabeth & James clothing line took advantage of fashion week traffic with a pop-up shop nearby Morton Square on Horatio and Hudson, first tried listing the nearly 6,000-square-foot apartment for $11.995 million in 2007. After three brokerage swaps and a final asking price of $8.43 million, the $300,000 the twins made on the investment probably won't even cover the broker fees." Hey, at least it's closure!
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Sep 15 2010 in New York, NY. Stepping out amidst Fashion Week in NYC, Mary-Kate Olsen did her best to ignore the paps as she got on with her day yesterday, September 15. Bundled up in a voluminous black coat (check out Mike & Chris' Charles Giant Hoodie in Black, or for a fancier option, try Sue Wong's Beaded Passementerie Embroidered Coat in Black), MKO trekked along in a pair of stovepipe denim (like Hudson Jeans' Alex 5 Pocket Skinny Jean in Taylor or Genetic Denim's Shane in Bolt) and of-the-moment brogues. Wearing a big pair of sunglasses, MK also toted along her well-worn vintage Hermes bag and a bottle of water. What are you feeling about Mary-Kate's look here, everyone - do you dig it? In related Olsen news, MK is speaking out about her love for a great coat. She says: "I love getting amazing jackets, because you can wear your pajamas underneath and everyone's like, 'Oh fabulous jacket', and I'm like, 'You should see what's underneath'." Sneaky, sneaky MK... ha! If you're a fan of the twins, you've probably heard that they've postponed their show for The Row at New York Fashion Week, and instead will present their collection for Paris Fashion Week. Bold move, girls!
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Aug 16 2010 in Los Angeles, CA. Mary-Kate Olsen was caught making her way through LAX in Los Angeles on August 16, trying to avoid eye contact with the paparazzi as she was shuffled to her waiting car. Starting with a major fur coat (BB Dakota's Bayfield Jacket in Black is cute, edgy and fur-free), MKO slipped into a pair of dark wash skinnies (I love the unique detailing of Artisan de Luxe's Rider in True Blue) and a black silk top (try Fifteen-Twenty's Fifteen-Twenty Keyhole Top in Black). She accessorized with a pair of chunky lace-up boots, her vintage Hermes Kelly bag, and a square gold ring (get the double finger ring look with Erica Anenberg's Double Finger Ring in Gold). What are your feelings about this look on MK - one of your favorites or not so much? If you're a big Olsen fan, I'm sure you checked out the September issue of Marie Claire, that featured MK on the cover. Inside, Mary-Kate revealed a lot about herself, and one of the most memorable quotes was: "I look at old photos of me, and I don't feel connected to them at all. I would never wish my upbringing on anyone...but I wouldn't take it back for the world." Quite an interesting parallel, however MK did compare her and her sister to "monkey performers" during their "Full House" days. Thoughts, everyone?
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Jun 17 2010 in New York, NY. Ashley Olsen was one of the fashionistas to attend the launch of YSL's latest fragrance "Belle D'Opium" on June 17 in NYC (along with Maggie Gyllenhaal and Whitney Port), opting for a typical, quirky look that's classic Olsen. Donning a black maxi trench coat with a pair of unique heels, Ashley added a bit of funk to her look with an exotic printed turban. To get a look that's similar to A's, try pairing Sue Wong's Tulle Bolero Jacket in Black with her Beaded Black Cocktail Dress for a unique graphic look, and add on a few distinctive bangles, such as Accessories & Beyond's Gold Bangle Bracelet in Brown or Ettika's Faceted Bead Strands Leather Bracelet in Black. What are your thoughts on Ashley's outfit here, everyone? Does the turban save an otherwise dull outfit, or is it the worst thing on the screen? In other Olsen news, it seems that Mary-Kate and Ashley's dad, David Olsen, is facing some monetary problems at the moment. Contact Music is reporting that Father Olsen has filed for bankruptcy and is facing foreclosure on his California home. Says a source, "David almost lost his home in 2009 because he had several tax liens but managed to borrow enough money to cover them. But he's in a worse position now because he's behind on mortgage payments and won't be able to stop the auction unless he gets his hands on $2 million." The twins are billionaires - don't you think they'd offer to give their dad the dough?
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Jun 07 2010 in New York, NY. Fashion savvy twins Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen were photographed with Russian supermodel (and one of my personal faves) Sasha Pivovarova on June 7 at the 2010 CFDA Fashion Awards that were held at Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall in NYC. This black-and-white trio seemed to coordinate their 'fits pre-event, as each look was for the most part synergistic. Diving into each look individually, let's start with MK. One of the things I find most interesting about the Olsen's style is that, a lot of the time, it's hard to tell exactly what they're wearing! It seems that MK chose a white maxi dress (try Sue Wong's Macrame Mermaid Maxi in White) with an oversized white collared shirt and a baggy black blazer (like Monrow's Double Breasted Tuxedo Jacket in Black) and a seriously smokey eye. As usual with MK and accessories - more is more. She piled on the bangles and a vintage watch (get the look with Anna Beck's Java Diamond Studded Large Cuff in Gold), along with rings galore (Jacquie Aiche's 14k Gold Twisted Waif Set is great). A black clutch and a dark pedicure completed her look. Sasha, on the other hand, paired a slouchy white silk camisole with a ruffled skirt (check out Tt Collection's Tiffany Long Skirt in Black) and a dramatic feathered necklace (go for a similar look with Elizabet Gillett Ltd's Jersey Flapper Necklace in Black). A slightly disheveled 'do and a come hither gaze topped things off. Lastly, we come to Ashley who went super minimal with a black maxi dress (give off a bit of a sexier vibe with Tt Collection's Cristophe Double Layer Gown in Black) and black strappy sandals, and carried a classic black clutch (I adore the studded detailing of Julie K Handbags' Sasha in Black). While there isn't anything here giving off that WOW! factor, do you think that the ladies look lovely? Or perhaps you think it's more lackluster? Weigh on readers!
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on May 28 2010 in New York, NY. Mary-Kate Olsen was caught by the paparazzi as she made her way through the West Village neighborhood of New York on May 28, and the tiny twin was wearing one of her trademark outfits. For her outfit, MK started with a studded jacket (check out Carter's edgy Rock or Die Blazer in Black) over a black maxi dress (like Tt Collection's Christophe Double Layer Gown in Black), along with a pair of black ankle boots and a pair of oversized sunglasses. It's pretty surprising that she's wearing a pair of booties other than her favorite Givenchy chain booties, which she's been spotted wearing on numerous occasions lately. Mary-Kate finished off her ensemble with an oversized black and gold watch (get the look with TKO Orlogi's Cerami Crystal-Steel in Black/Rose) and a few big silver rings (try Lois Hill's Rectangular Ring in Silver). Lay it on me readers - are you diggin' this outfit on MK? I know that the reader opinions tend to be pretty torn between and love and hate when it comes to the Olsens. For those of you who heard the news that Mary-Kate was on a plane that was en route to NYC and had to make an emergency landing in Virginia last week - it turns out that it wasn't MK, but it was Ashley! Originally, sources claimed: "The former child star was flying from New York to Los Angeles with her boyfriend when a blaze broke out at the front of the aircraft, cracking the windshield. The pilot was forced to make an unscheduled landing in Virginia, where emergency vehicles greeted the plane on the runway at Dulles airport and passengers were ferried to safety." While MK was safe and sound throughout the whole experience, Ashley's rep confirmed that both she and her boyfriend Justin Bartha are fine. Thank goodness! I think it's still so funny that people can't tell the twins apart, though.
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on May 19 2010 in New York, NY. Mary-Kate Olsen was photographed leaving her New York City apartment (following one of her burly bodyguards, naturally) on May 19, avoiding the paparazzi as she headed into a waiting car. For her casual outfit, MK stuck to black with an accent of tan on her suede jacket. She paired black jeggings (try Work Custom Jeans' Stiletto Leg with Zip in Black) with her favorite Givenchy chain booties - that she also wore here - and what looks like a vintage tan suede jacket (I love Barlow's Asky Leather Moto Jacket in Tan). Next up was a black button down - check out Boulee's Kim Butterfly Sleeve Top in Black - do you think this is the same one that she wore to the Free Arts 12th Annual Art Auction on May 14? It would be pretty funny if it was, considering that MK could probably buy every black shirt in the world if she wanted to! MKO finished off her look with a pair of black shades and a beaded rosary (like Jessica Elliot's Wrought Iron Clover Necklace in Vermeil). Do you like Mary-Kate's look here, readers - or is her look a bit too grunge for your taste? You know where I stand... love her! As I'm sure you know, Mary-Kate was pretty close with Heath Ledger when he passed away, and it seems that she really took his passing to heart. Says a source, "Although neither of the former party girls used drugs, it was a sad wake-up call for both of them." I'm sure it was, to say the least.
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on May 14 2010 in New York, NY. Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen made an appearance at the Free Arts 12th Annual Art Auction held on May 14 in NYC, opting for head-to-toe black looks as they hosted this special night. Presented by David Yurman and Vanity Fair, the artwork auction raised money for Free Arts NYC programs for children. Such a great cause in my opinion... I think that all children should experience art at an early age and nurture their artistic side. For her event ensemble, MK opted for Givenchy, pairing a sharp shouldered coat (try Tt Collection's Dylan in Black) over a black button-up (check out Boulee's Kim Butterfly Sleeve Top in Black), along with black leggings with leather detail (the lace accents of The Battalion's Edith in Black are pretty). Ashley, on the other hand, chose a vintage Yohji Yamamoto maxi dress (try Shumaq's Maria Dress in Black) that she paired with chunky navy Robert Clergerie sandals and Van Cleef jewelery. Who do you think looks the best on this occasion, readers? My vote is for MK... she is totally rocking those chic pants. For those of you who are big fans of the Olsens' clothing lines, they've recently revealed that the inspiration for the next collection of their Olsenboye line is coming from "London street style." Ashley said: "We're looking to cute little British girls. We're doing London street style next. You pay attention to their style and lifestyle and what they do. I think it's about paying attention to the world, and to culture and what's happening." Very wise, Ash! While it may seem that the twins don't have enough time in the day to fully focus on each of their lines, Ashley says, "You know it's a lot of work. But it's definitely not hard to keep it straight. It's just a matter of finding enough time to be able to devote to each brand, really." Which of their lines do you like the best? I am all about The Row :)
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on May 10 2010 in New York, NY. Mary-Kate Olsen showed up to support twin sister Ashley's beau Justin Bartha at the premiere of his new film Holy Rollers, held at Landmark’s Sunshine Cinema in NYC on May 10. It seems that MK has become quite fond of leopard print lately, as we recently saw her wearing a wild leopard coat while strolling through NYC's West Village on April 29. To get her movie premiere ensemble, start with an exotic top like Da-Nang's Leopard Long Sleeve Blouse tucked into a pair of black trousers - I'm obsessed with Gold Hawk's Relaxed Trouser in Kohl Black. Next up, MK grabbed a fringed clutch (I am really crushing on Susan Farber Collections' Sterling in Cream Suede) and piled on the jewelry, including bracelets, bangles, and rings (try Femme Metale Jewelry's Rectangle Ring in Silver). Are you feeling Mary-Kate's walk-on-the-wild-side look here, readers? Or are you less than impressed? It's really nice of Mary-Kate to walk the red carpet and show her support for Ashley's boyfriend Justin in his new role, however it's kind of strange that Ashley herself attended the premiere but decided against walking the red carpet. Doesn't she realize that by being photographed at the premiere, more attention will be drawn to Justin and his flick? After the premiere, Mary-Kate, Ashley and Justin all hit up the after party held at NYC hotspot Avenue. I wonder if Ashley's shy side decided to come out and play for the premiere?
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Apr 29 2010 in New York, NY. Mary-Kate Olsen was photographed strolling down the streets in NYC's West Village on April 29, taking time to catch up with a friend as she chatted on her cell phone while sitting on an outdoor bench. For her outfit, MK started with a pair of leather pants (get the look without the price tag with Bejeweled's Metallic Legging in Black) that she paired with Givenchy's Chain Wedge Nappa Low Boots, and wore a red top (try Black Halo's Suzanne Top in Berry) under a leopard print coat. If you're into the leopard look for spring, take a peek at Moschino Cheap and Chic's Silk Leopard Tie Dress in Brown. Mary-Kate completed her look with a bevy of rings (I love the layered look of Iosselliani's Black/Silver Multi Rings), a pair of black shades and a neon pink manicure. I love it when MK goes for neon pink on her nails! I first fell in love with this look when she wowed me with her neon nails back in 2007! With the new trailer for MK's new film Beastly released, the rest of the cast is speaking out about their time filming the movie, most notably Vanessa Hudgens chatting about her love for this Olsen twin! Says Vanessa, "I love her! I used to be in her fan club! When we were in Montreal, we’d go shopping and she’d take me to vintage stores. I would literally just follow her around being like, ‘Help me! What do you look for? Please tell me. Give me your shirts. What’s your shirt secret?'" Wow! Who knew Vanessa was such a style stalker? Then again, when you're filming a movie with someone as stylish as Mary-Kate, you're bound to want to pick up some of her style secrets!
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Apr 07 2010 in New York, NY. Ashley Olsen was photographed out and about in NYC on April 7, toting along her absolutely a-freakin-dorable French bulldog during her day's errands. For her casual spring outfit, Ashley started with a pair of classic Levi's cut off shorts (similar to Frankie B.'s Jewel Icon Short in Bird) along with a white silk button down shirt (try Splendid's Silky Shirt in White) and a pair of standard oversized black sunglasses. Olsen accessorized with a pair of flat black sandals (I love the slight gladiator influence of Farylrobin's Wilson in Black) and a medium size tote (check out the studded detail of Danielle Nicole's Sahara Studded Messenger in Black). I love it when we get a chance to see the Olsen girls dressed super casual and not done up in jewels and furs and OTT chic gowns (now don't get me wrong, I love this too). This makes us realize that they are real girls who enjoy slipping on a pair of broken-in denim shorts as much as the rest of us. For those of you who are fans of Mary-Kate and Ashley's clothing designs, you'll be pleased to hear that the twins are expanding their Elizabeth and James line with denim. Inspired by the '70s, Mary-Kate says of the pieces, "The fit, wash, hardware and fabric of Textile Elizabeth and James embody the Elizabeth and James quality and design aesthetic our customers have come to expect. The details of each piece have been carefully executed for a worn, classic touch." Who is excited to see?
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Apr 04 2010 in New York, NY. Stylish sisters Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen stepped out for a night at the theatre as they walked the red carpet at the Music Box Theatre in New York City on April 4, where the girls attended the opening night of the new Broadway play "Lend Me A Tenor." Dressed in head-to-toe black (save for a pop of white in their clutches), MK & A seemed to have a macabre inspiration for the evening, as they donned shades as the photogs flashed away. Let's start with Mary-Kate - it seems that she paired a long black button down (try Aude's Claire Tunic in Carbon) over a tulle maxi dress (get the look with Sue Wong's Beaded Gown with Deep V Back in Black/Nude) with black suede platforms... or are those clogs? Round sunnies completed her look. Now on to Ashley. She chose a dress with bow detailing and a mesh overlay that I'm not completely sure how flattering it is... however, if you're inspired by the mesh/lace look, check out Tt Collection's Sabrina Skirt in Cream. Delicate heels and square shades were the finishing touches. Both girls polished off their outfits with white clutches - I like Antoinette Lee Designs' Dolcita Clutch in White. What are your thoughts on their look here, readers? Love it or hate it? You know I always have a special place for the twins in my heart; don't ask me why, I just do. I like MK's look here, it's just kind of hard to tell what pieces she's actually wearing. That's the thing about the Olsens, it's usually hard to make sense of (or even tell!) what they are wearing. Can't wait to hear what you think though, readers!
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Mar 26 2010 in New York, NY. Mary-Kate Olsen was caught by the paparazzi as she stepped out of a big black SUV in NYC's West Village on March 26, staying warm in the chilly weather by donning one of her furs. MK matched her bordeaux lipstick to the deep red hue of her fur coat, which she layered over a longer grey coat (like Bailey 44's Coller Coat in Heather Grey) and a long black t-shirt. Next Mary-Kate slipped into a pair of black skinny jeans (get the look with Chasely's Denim Legging in Overdye Black) and black leather boots (similar to Martha Davis' Superhero Short Boot in Black), while she toted along a worn-in tote (like Julie K Handbags' Robin Bag in Cognac) with her BlackBerry, keys, and a plastic cup of water. On a beauty note, I'm really liking MK's messily braided hair, but then again, no matter what hairstyle she's rocking its always bound to look a bit messy. A taupe manicure completed her look. Readers, weigh in. Do you think MKO looks stylish here, or is she walking the line of a costume? As you know, I am definitely Team Olsen, but totally appreciate hearing other points of view! A big two-page story in this Sunday's Los Angeles Times Image Section profiled fur in the fashion industry, and included both Mary-Kate and Ashley as contemporary style icons (along with Kate Moss, Diane Kruger, Kanye West, and Maggie Gyllenhaal) who "wear fur with abandon." The article says, "In fashion's inner circles, fur is still a mainstay. Fur seems to have recently taken on a much higher profile in the subculture that counts on designers, celebrities and actors to fill out its ranks." I know I've asked this before, but are you for wearing fur or against it?
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Mar 19 2010 in New York, NY. Mary-Kate Olsen was photographed leaving her NYC apartment on March 19, rocking a hodgepodge look with a disheveled hairstyle and one of her favorite jackets. MK wore this cropped harlequin jacket back in December for the premiere of the film "Nine," and has decided that it's also appropriate for street wear as well. Besides the jacket, MK chose a black maxi dress (similar to T by Alexander Wang's Classic Tank Dress in Black) with a handful of voluminous scarves (get the pattern and color scheme with Alice + Olivia's Striped Knit Scarf in Wheat/Cream and Elizabeth Gillett Ltd's Summer Scarf in Blue) and black lace-up booties. Additionally, MK chose a pair of black sunnies, an oversized black leather tote bag, and a selection of rings (I think Mary-Kate would be particularly fond of Femme Metale Jewelry's Snake Shell Ring in Pink). She definitely seems like she didn't want to be photographed here, hence her sloppy hairstyle and reclusive pose. What are your thoughts on MKO's look here - are you a fan of her eclectic taste or is this not for you? It's a little odd that MK is soo bundled up, given that it is pretty warm in NYC right about now, with temperatures averaging about 70 degrees. I guess nothing stands between Mary-Kate and her multiple layers! In Mary-Kate relationship news, it seems she and long-term beau Nate Lowman have decided to call it quits. Mary-Kate's rep tells Us Weekly, "No, they are not [still dating]. It’s been a while." The two met in 2008 through mutual friend, and seemed to be inseparable for quite some time. There were quite a few engagement rumors that made their way around the internet for a while, but it seems like MK is single once again. You hear that, guys? Now is the time to make your move on this tiny twin!
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Mar 11 2010 in New York, NY. Power twin Ashley Olsen was photographed doing a bit of shopping at home decor store The Silk Trading Company in NYC on March 11, going for a semi-incognito look as she rocked the big shades with her standard cup of java. Ashley paired a long camel coat (try Suzabelle's Nicolet Trench Coat in Classic Taupe) with a cable knit sweater tossed nonchalantly over her shoulders (check out Trovata's Cable Sweater in Vanilla), along with black tights and heels and a leather tote bag (check out similar options like Antoinette Lee Designs' Stella Bag in Tan or Julie K Handbags' Tatum Bag in Coffee). What are your thoughts on AO's seemingly thrown-together look? Do you like the semi-sloppy ensemble, or do you have any suggestions for her as to how she can polish it up a bit? If you follow Mary-Kate and Ashley's fashionable endeavors, you know that they have a line coming out with JCPenny called Olsenboye, and the twins are giving credit to their friends who have helped out with the line. Says MK, "We’ve been working with our friends who are our age and in art school. All the people at JCPenney have totally embraced all of our friends that have now participated in these projects and it’s a lot of young talent and I think it’s really exciting." Ashley continued, "They’ve helped out with the art on the web sites and doing the commercials and the videos." One trend that Ashley's not too fond of lately? "I’m a fan of strong shoulders, but I think the extreme shoulder, to me–it takes a very special person to pull it off. And I’m kind of ready to move on from that," she says. Sorry, Kim (see entry below)!
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Feb 22 2010 in London, England. There's no doubt that when Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen walk a red carpet, people take notice. And that's just what happened at the ELLE Style Awards 2010, held earlier this evening, February 22, at Grand Connaught Rooms in London, England. The twins were being honored with the "Style Icon" Award, which celebrated their unique and individual fashion personalities. MK & A went all out in their ensembles, both wearing couture creations that have been created and modified specifically with each girl in mind. Ashley wowed in a metallic beige and blue Christian Lacroix Spring 2010 gown with a tulle train that seemed to go on for miles, while Mary-Kate chose a black Lanvin gown with leather gloves and a black fur shrug. If you are feeling inspired by the sisters Olsen and their statement making looks, why not opt for a few similar pieces from CoutureCandy? I know these are not couture gowns, but for a similarly glamorous maxi dress to Ashley's, check out Karen Zambos' Maxi Dress in Ivory or Sue Wong's Goddess Gown with Beading Detail in Beige, accompanied by a complimentary metallic clutch (like Inge Christopher's Marie Metallic Boa Clutch in Gold). If you long to cross over to the dark side, check out either Sue Wong's Vintage Beaded Maxi Dress in Black or her Hollywood Glamour Dress in Black with a patent crocodile clutch (take a look at Elaine Turner's Bella Croc Patent Clutch in Black). Don't forget the fab leather gloves with a few statement making cocktail rings. What do you think readers, who looks best here - MK or A? I'm torn on this one... I need you to weigh in!
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Feb 18 2010 in New York, NY. Ashley Olsen stepped out for the Tommy Hilfiger Fall 2010 fashion show during Mercedes-Benz New York Fashion Week last night, February 18, doing her best to make her way into the show despite being surrounded by a frantic crowd of people and photographers. Ashley started her look with a black fur stole that almost looks to be faux (for a totally furless look, try Blaque Label's fun Bell Sleeve Jacket in Black) over a heather grey top (check out T by Alexander Wang's Sheer Cowl Back Tee in Heather Grey), that she then paired with gold silk trousers (I love the look of Walter's darker Sand Washed Silk Pant in Brown) and pointed toe pumps. Keeping her golden locks neatly tied back, Ashley finished off her ensemble with sparkling oversized earrings and a cream shoulder bag (check out Rough Roses' Jewel Shoulder Bag with Braided Strap in Cream). What are your thoughts here, readers... does Ashley look good? I've definitely seen her in more impressive looks. In related news, leave it to Ash to cause a commotion at the Hilfiger show; articles with headlines such as "Ashley Olsen Is So Over This Whole Standing Up Thing" are popping up left and right. As the entire audience gave Mr. Hilfiger a standing ovation at the end of his show, Ashley appeared to be pretty much glued to her seat and stayed seated, although Ed Westwick, Hayden Panettiere, Rosario Dawson, and Penn Badgley all showed their support by standing. Check out the pictures here. Celebuzz is also reporting that things were semi-awkward between Ashley and Penn, saying "they didn't exchange words, let alone look at each other throughout the entire show, even though they were sitting right next to each other. It was super awkward." I wonder what the deal was?
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Feb 04 2010 in New York, NY. Mary-Kate Olsen was photographed leaving her apartment in the East Village neighborhood of Manhattan earlier this afternoon, February 4, keeping warm with a hot beverage in a cute ceramic mug. For her outfit, MKO started with a long red coat from the Lanvin Fall 2009 collection (get the look with Amberlynn's Pollie Trench Coat in Cherry) over a black top and skinny jeans (try Dylan George's Lucy Jean in Mars), and then accessorized with a pair of gold-framed aviators, a distressed brown oversized Balenciaga tote (similar to Carla Mancini's Tote with Medallion in Olive Suede) and black Lanvin ankle boots (check out Martha Davis' Superhero Short Boot in Black). What are your thoughts on Mary-Kate's look here, readers - is this a look you would attempt or do you think it's best suited for an Olsen? Both MK and her twin sis Ashley appeared on "Good Morning America" to promote their new clothing line for JC Penny, Olsenboye. This affordable line ranges from $20 - $60, and is aimed at a slightly younger demographic than The Row or Elizabeth and James. Just when you thought their fashion resume couldn't get anymore filled with impressive stats, the twins announced that they are launching a denim line, to be called "TEXTILE Elizabeth and James." According to InStyle.com, "The 70s-inspired collection features three styles named after music icons from the decade: we have the high-waisted and cropped flare 'Joni', low-slung, button-fly 'Stevie' and distressed bell bottom 'Hendrix'." Will any of you be checking out MK & A's line?
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Dec 29 2009 in Los Angeles, CA. Mary-Kate Olsen was photographed by the paparazzi as she left a hair appointment at the Byron Williams Salon in LA on December 29, and unfortunately, MK discovered a parking ticket when she returned to her car! MK kept her look rocker chic, as she paired a Balenciaga motorcycle jacket (get the look with Genetic Denim's The Fonda Motorcycle Jacket in Black Mirror) with her fave Balenciaga booties and Earnest Sewn's Harlan jean. For a slightly darker was of this jean, try the Harlan Jean in One Rinse. For the rest of her look, MK again chose her favorite circular shades, a red dotted blouse (for a great piece to ease you into spring, try Whitley Kros' WK Tank in Bloom), a long neutral scarf (like A Graves' Crescent Print Scarf in Marino Wool), and a classic black Birkin that seemed to have tons of stuff in it! What are your thoughts on MK's look here, readers? Yay, nay, or okay? I for one am excited about MK's upcoming film, Beastly, which is a modernized version of the classic "Beauty and the Beast" tale, also starring Vanessa Hudgens and Neil Patrick Harris. In the film, "A New York guy, Kyle Kingson (Alex Pettyfer), transforms into a hideous monster to find true love. Mary-Kate plays, Kendra, a girl in his high school to transforms him into the Beast." I'm glad to see that Mary-Kate is continuing to act, as it seems that her sis Ashley has given it up entirely to focus on her fashion career. Which role do you like MK better in, that of actress or fashion designer?
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Dec 21 2009 in New York, NY. Mary-Kate Olsen was caught leaving her lower Manhattan apartment on December 21, tightly grasping a hot coffee to stay warm amidst the freezing NYC temps. I feel like it's been forever since we've seen paparazzi pictures of MK's street style, don't you? Lately, the twins have only been photographed at premieres and benefits and galas... I've missed seeing the Olsen's take to the street with their style! MK began her look with a black leather motorcycle jacket (try Mike & Chris' Wesley Motorcycle Jacket in Black) over a black t-shirt and what seems to almost be a white silk kimono? I wouldn't put it past MK. She continued with a skinny black denim (similar to Siwy's Hannah Jean in Jet Obsidian), a burgundy plaid scarf (I love the print of A Graves' Floral Print Scarf in Marino Wool), a pair of vintage biker boots and a black leather shoulder bag with gold hardware (get the look with Linea Pelle Collection's Dylan Folding Tote in Black). Accessory wise, Mary-Kate chose her favorite circular shades, along with a bevy of rings (wearing a ton of rings is oh-so-Olsen - take your pick between Ija Designs' Cuttlefish Ring in Silver and Lois Hill's Rectangular Ring in Silver). Since it has been so long, are you feelin' MK's almost-2010 style? Is this a look you would attempt? It seems that Liz Jones doesn't think so. The critic deemed MK the fourth worst-dressed celeb of the year, claiming that the tiny twin "limps in fourth [on the list] in a kaftan and a headband," behind Madonna, Sharon Stone, and Cate Blanchett. That's the beauty of MK - she doesn't care what anyone thinks of her style and continues to do her own thing, despite being called a mess, a bag lady, homeless, and any other tragic fashion term you can throw her way. What do you think, did she deserve to be the fourth worst dressed star of 2009?
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Dec 15 2009 in New York, NY. Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen stepped out on the red carpet for the NYC premiere of the film Nine on December 15, and each girl went for a completely different look than the other. Before I dissect each look one by one, I have to say, I much prefer their ensembles here over when they attended the Museum Of Modern Art’s film benefit 'A Tribute To Tim Burton' (although Ash did wear the same yellow satin Manolo Blahnik Hangisi pumps!). I will admit, however, that I am relieved to see that her subtle blue and purple highlights were only a phase. Now let's start with Mary-Kate. MK paired a black maxi dress (like Tt Collection's Christophe Double Layer Gown in Black) under a multicolored harlequin cropped jacket, and added on a pair of platform black boots and an oversized bright blue Maia N clutch (check out Laura Matthews Designs' 3 Ring Clutch in Blue). She finished her look with a variety of beaded bangles (Sisco Family Jewels' Red Czech Wrap Bracelet is similar) and a gold watch with a black band. I must say, I love when MK does her makeup like this; a slightly smokey eye with a light pink lip. Perfection. Now, let's move on to Ashley. She started with the aforementioned Manolos, along with high waisted silk trousers (get the look with Alice + Olivia's Arthur Pant in Black), a voluminous feather jacket, and her trusty black Kelly bag with gold hardware. Okay readers, which of the two looks do you like the best (if either)? I'm dying to know!
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Nov 17 2009 in New York, NY. I know that you readers are split between loving and loathing Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen eccentric and often risky sense of style, but there's no denying that the twins make people take notice wherever they go. Appearing at The Museum Of Modern Art’s film benefit 'A Tribute To Tim Burton' on November 17 in NYC, the girls piled on the layers for their unique looks. Let's begin with Ashley: she started with a pair of yellow satin Manolo Blahnik Hangisi pumps that I adore, in addition to a voluminous patterned maxi dress (try Pink Polka Dot's Blue Feathers Dress in Turquoise for a similar full-length frock) under a black trench coat (similar to Suzabelle's Nicolet Trench Coat in Black). One thing I have to point out to get your feedback on are the pale blue and purple streaks in Ash's wavy blonde locks. What is going on there? Are you a fan of these subtle highlights? I haven't fully made up my mind yet. Mary-Kate, on the other hand, started with an attention-grabbing dark maroon/purple pucker, along with a leopard coat and a long black dress (for a cuter option, try Moschino Cheap & Chic's Silk Leopard Tie Dress). She completed her look with a pair of burgundy velvet heels. One thing that the Olsen girls always bring with them are a selection of killer rings, and the MOMA event was no exception. Check out a selection of funky and unique rings here on CoutureCandy, like Ija Designs' Cuttlefish Ring in Silver, Megan Greene's Ada III Ring in Midnight, or Alanna Bess' Raw Jasper Ring in Gold. Okay, readers - lay it on me, do you love or hate their look here?
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Oct 21 2009 in New York, NY. The sisters Olsen were spotted in all of their eccentric, messy, chic glory at the 2009 Council of Fashion Designers of America’s new members reception held at the Four Seasons Restaurant last night, October 21, where they were inducted into the council alongside such notable designers as Alexander Wang. Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen were also spotted posing for pictures with legendary designer Diane Von Furstenberg (who the girls interviewed for their book "Influence") during this momentous evening. As far as their looks, let's start with MK. She paired a long black gown (try Tt Collection's Cristophe Double Layer Gown in Black) under a black coat with delicate white embroidery and classic black heels. For her makeup, Mary-Kate's crimson pout and dark, smokey eye was enhanced by a deliciously girly pink cheek. Ashley, on the other hand, rocked a similar look with contrasting colors, instead choosing a long white dress (similar to Susana Monaco's Sarah Dress in Creme Fraiche) under a sharp black coat (check out Suzabelle's fashionable and functional Fremont Jacket in Black) with blood red heels and a delicate gold necklace. For their hair, both girls chose a wavy, slightly tousled style for their blonde locks, and toted brighly colored, exotic clutches (if you are into this style of bag, Moyna Handbags' makes an amazing selection of bags that are anything from ordinary, such as the Embroidered Folk Bag in Orange, the Velvet Box Frame Clutch in Fuchsia, or the Snap Closure Beaded Clutch in Red/Gold - which is your fave?) for the evening. What are your thoughts, readers... which twin do you think looks better here? I must say, it is quite an accomplishment for both MK & A to be inducted into this prestigious council - do you think it is well deserved?
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Oct 05 2009 in Paris, France. Power twin Mary-Kate Olsen was photographed with boyfriend Nate Lowman as they headed into the Giambattista Valli fashion show at Paris Spring/Summer 2010 Ready To Wear Fashion Week earlier today, October 5, where MK (of course) had a front-row seat. Clad in a beige fringed jacket (try similar, fringe-less versions, such as Rebecca Taylor's Swing Jacket in Snow or Gold Hawk's Belted Leather Jacket in Pale Yellow) over a long polka dotted black gown (check out Sue Wong's equally luxe Beaded Gown with Deep V-Back in Black/Nude), MK slipped her famous feet into a pair of Giambattista Valli platforms. She finished off her look with an oversized pair of black shades, a gold bangle (check out Kimberly Faith's Large Black and Gold Astrological Bracelet), and an exotic beaded bag (if you are feelin' MK's fringe look, check out Novella Royale's Penny Fringe Clutch in Metal, or for a beaded option that's very similar to Mary-Kate's, take a look at Moyna Handbags' Snap Closure Beaded Clutch in Red/Gold). What are your thoughts on MK's look, readers? I think she played it pretty safe, I mean - this is Paris Fashion Week! Think about what Rihanna's been wearing. But there really is no denying that Mary-Kate looks great. It's nice to see her out and about in Paris and enjoying the various fashion-related activities, as she was also spotted at the Burberry show last week. While MK is taking in all of the amazing shows, I have to wonder - where is Ashley?
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Aug 29 2009 in Tokyo, Japan. While some (okay, make that most) people don't understand Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen's fashion choices, there is no question that they are fearless on the red carpet. The twins stayed true to their fashion-forward nature as they made an appearance at the opening of Opening Ceremony in Tokyo, Japan on August 29. Both girls donned Maison Michel Fall 2009 lace ears, with Ashley opting for the Mickey Mouse Ears and MK choosing the Rabbit Ears. For their store-opening looks, let's start with Ashley. Ashley paired a long white coat (like LaROK's Marlena Coat in Cream) with The Row's fitted "Weatherby Dress" (check out similar options on CoutureCandy, like Ingwa Melero's slinky Charmeuse Sofia Dress in Black or Graham & Spencer's Sleeveless Techno Dress in Black) and Ralph Lauren tortoise shell sunglasses. Mary-Kate, on the other hand, chose a strongly textural Toga Fall 2009 black dress (try much more casual alternatives, like Tracy Reese's Georgette Chemise in Black or Zooey's Front Tulip Dress in Black) for her ensemble. Both of the twins went the Prada route for their accessories, choosing Prada Spring 2009 heels and Prada Fall 2009 bags (for a bag that is an understated mix of both girls' bags, try Carla Mancini's much more wearable Fringe Messenger Bag in Red). Okay, I know that some of you are going to love love love their looks here, and others are going to positively hate them. I'm ready, readers - lay it on me!
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Aug 25 2009 in Toronto, Canada. After not appearing for what seems like forever in public together, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen posed at the launch of Elizabeth and James at Holt Renfrew in Toronto, Canada on August 25, opting for simple outfits with knockout heels. Mary-Kate chose a basic black coat (try Suzabelle's Nicolet Trench Coat in Black) that she belted with a leather belt (similar to Motif 56's Opal Belt in Black), and finished off her outfit with Miu Miu's Cabachon Heels. Ashley, on the other hand, chose a charcoal grey sweater (like Trina Turk's cozy Kylie Sweater in Platinum, or, for a short sleeve option -it is still summer!- try Qi Cashmere's Yoke Cabled Scoopneck Top in Storm) with Elizabeth and James' white Edith Shorts (check out True Religion's Joey Short in Body Rinse), a few antique gold coin necklaces (try Maya Brenner Designs' Santorini Coin Necklace in Vermeil), and Prada's Studded T-Bar Sandals. What do you think of their looks, both individual and together? Was there a look you liked better? I think Ashley wins this one for me, I am always a sucker for charcoal combined with white - and the shoes really knock it out of the park! In ridiculous Olsen news, the new issue of Star Magazine is reporting that Mary-Kate is bloated and gaining a ton of weight - right, because she looks so huge here (note the sarcasm)! A source tells the mag that MK is "so bloated they barely recognized her, adding, "Mary-Kate's weight gain is definitely freaking her out. It was kind of shocking to everyone - no one thought she could gain this much weight! But now Mary-Kate's working out and trying to cut back on partying, so she's getting back on track." What do you think readers, do you buy any of that? Good old Star!
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Jun 15 2009 in New York, NY. Ashley Olsen wowed at the 2009 CFDA Fashion Awards held at the Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall in NYC last night, June 15, turning heads and playfully posing on the red carpet in a retro-style orange floor-length gown that is rumored to be The Row. Also rocking her newly bobbed hairstyle, Ashley exuded that quiet confidence that she is known for. For more casual, summertime-inspired orange frocks, check out Tricia Fix's Dana Long Dress in Orange Sun or Gold Hawk's Long Shoulder Garden Party Dress in Orange. Accessory wise, Ashley stepped out in a pair of bronze stilettos and kept her jewelry to a minimum, choosing only a single golden bangle (like Danielle Stevens Jewelry's Single Engraved Bracelet in Gold) and a simple ring on her left pointer finger (Castaway Jewelry's Chalcedony Ring in Brass is a bit edgier than Ashley's, but still packs a punch). What are your thoughts on Ashley's look? Some reports are saying that the strong, square shoulders overpower Olsen's petite frame, and others are saying that this fashion-forward dress was one of the highlights of the evening. Readers, weigh in! For those of you who follow the professional lives of the Olsen twins, I'm sure you know that Ashley has decided to put her acting career on the back-burner while she focuses on the fashion and business side of her brand. Now, Ashley is claiming to be finished with acting forever! She says, "I’ve been transitioning from acting as a kid to doing something that I’m choosing for myself — to be part of the fashion industry. That’s what I want for my future. It has nothing to do with my past, nothing to do with anyone else’s agenda. And I followed my heart the whole way." And I'm sure that wherever her heart will lead her she will enjoy great successes!
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Jun 02 2009 in Hollywood, CA. Ashley and Mary-Kate Olsen were spotted looking happy and healthy on the red carpet of the premiere of The Hangover at Grauman’s Chinese Theatre in Hollywood on June 2, with Ashley rocking a VERY short bob (check out a photo of the back here). No surprise here that I think they both look incredible, but then again, in my opinion when do they ever not? Ashley kept it simple and classic in a floor-length black silk dress (check out similar options from Gold Hawk, like the Garden Party Long Dress in Black, or from Ella Moss, like the Olive Dress in Black) with no jewelry and a pair of heels that I would love to see more of, while MK showed up to the premiere with more of a funky vibe, starting with her favorite purple circular glasses and an enviable pair of heels (can anyone identify?). Next, MK chose an artsy patterned mini dress (check out one of Cake Couture's cool patterned frocks, like the Gardenia Shirt Dress in Black with Ivory or the Ikat Tie Dress) under an oversized black blazer (take a look at Signorelli's Logo Blazer in Black) and with a bevvy of full-finger rings. While I know this is going to be a hard decision for you, readers, who do you think looked the best at the premiere? I'm skewing towards MK... she just looks so radiant and (for lack of a better word) stylish! While it's known that Ashley has focused more on the fashion and business side of the industry, MK is still keen on nabbing acting roles. For her latest, Variety is reporting that Mary-Kate will be starring alongside Vanessa Hudgens and British heartthrob Alex Pettyfer in a modern-day retelling of "Beauty and the Beast," entitled Beastly. Mary-Kate's "character places a curse on a handsome, egocentric young man, to be portrayed by Pettyfer, who’s physically transformed into everything he despises." MK as a spell-casting seductress? Love it!
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Apr 29 2009 in New York, NY. Mary-Kate Olsen was spotted strolling around Tribeca with a Starbucks in hand on April 29, demonstrating that she's not afraid to mix patterns in her outfits. Side note - where is Ashley? I feel like it's been ages since we've seen her. For MK's look, she started with a patterned, chunky sweater dress (for similar options, try Gold Hawk's beautiful Water Color Print Poncho Dress in Fuchsia, Plenty by Tracy Reese's Ruffled Shift Dress in Gumdrop Stripes, or Cake Couture's Ikat Tie Dress) and paired it with classic black Ray-Ban Clubmasters, black gladiator sandals, and two handbags: one vintage or vintage-esque patterned bag and one black fringed bag (like Linea Pelle Collection's Janis Fringe Clutch in Vintage Black). This is definitely a very "MK" look and it's doubtful if any other celeb could pull it off without everyone saying that they're trying too hard to be like Mary-Kate - however, do you think it looks good on the tiny twin? Mary-Kate is speaking out about, naturally, her interest and love of fashion, and says of her favorite spots in Manhattan, "All the streets are so special here. I live around here. I'm always amazed at how the streets always look different. I'm always blown away. The other day, I walked down the street and the trees right now, the white trees and the petals everywhere. So beautiful. Hanging out at Battery Park. There's something magical about New York and the seasons and watching it change." MK definitely hearts NY! Of her popular clothing line Elizabeth & James, says Olsen, "We just expanded into menswear. We did jewelry and shoes. What we do is start with something really small. I'm sure handbags will make sense next. We want to make sure what we do, we do well. Otherwise there is no point." I can't wait to see what they have in store for menswear, how about you?
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Apr 24 2009 in New York, NY. Mary-Kate Olsen was spotted running around in NYC on Friday, April 24, with her arms full of numerous bags, a coffee, and her BlackBerry Bold. While we haven't seen MK in a while, it's cool to notice that she's still rocking her favorite circular shades - so very John Lennon of her! In a patterned, Springtime kimono-style frock (try Tricia Fix's more vibrant version, the Kimono Dress in Blue Print) with massive wood-wedge heels, MKO accessorized with a brown bag with a long shoulder strap (similar to Carla Mancini's Hobo with Front Lock in Tan), a few rings (check out Erica Anenberg's Horse Cigar Ring in 14k Plated Solid Brass) and some layered necklaces (I like Danielle Stevens Jewelry's Peace Out Necklace in Gold). What are your thoughts on Mary-Kate's look here - are you a fan? In other MK news, the tiny twin is a member of the jury for this year's Tribeca Film Festival, a huge honor for such a young woman. Olsen discussed how she felt about this position at the Chanel Artist's Dinner, saying, "I wish there was a class. It’s a huge honor to be a part of it. I’ve been watching the movies. I just started, so I don’t know what we do or what’s going to happen. This is the first night, really. I got my pamphlet this morning. I already watched all the shorts and am going to re-watch them. This is fun." Mary-Kate, film buff? That would be pretty cool to watch so many interesting films, don't you think? MK definitely knows her stuff when it comes to the entertainment industry too. Do you think the Tribeca Film Festival made a wise choice picking this Olsen to be a part of the jury?
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Mar 23 2009 in Los Angeles, CA. Mary-Kate Olsen made an appearance at the 2009 Tribeca Film Festival Program at the W Hotel and Residences in LA on March 23, rocking a much more tanned and dewy look than her recent ghostly appearance at The Metropolitan Opera's 125th Anniversary Gala in NYC, in which her look was all about pale skin and blood red lips. How very Twilight of her! I have to say, I like MK's look better when she appears fresh faced and glowy, and with a beachy, golden wavy hairstyle. For her outfit, MKO started with a long camel-colored trench (try Suzabelle's Nicolet Trench Coat in Classic Taupe) over a black button-down shirt (like Raw 7's Button Down Shirt in Life Black) and paired with skinny dark denim (similar to Tag Jeans' Skinny No Flap Jean in Resin Rinse) and transparent cagelike heels. Next, MK toted along a teal handbag (check out Julie K Handbags' Eliza Flat Tote in Jade Python) and accessorized with an oversized ring (try Erica Anenberg's Horse Cigar Ring in 14k Plated Solid Brass) and silver chain bracelet (take a look at Christie Martin Jewelry's Disc and Tag Bracelet in Sterling Silver). What are your thoughts on MK's ensemble? I'm sure you already know mine... she can do no wrong! Mary-Kate spoke to gossip site JustJared recently about something that had not been written about in the press until now, a time when she was chased off the road by the paparazzi. Olsen says, "I’ve been in the business since I was 6-months-old. I'm 5-feet tall, it's invasive. Paparazzi jump my fence [in Los Angeles] and it's scary! It was never written about, but I was driven off the highway by the paparazzi once. It's dangerous when cars are following you so closely!" To that, she shared why now she calls NYC a more permanent home. "I made the switch emotionally to NYC a year ago. I just love it here better. I’ve been going back and forth every weekend, though," MK shared. Can you imagine being chased off the road by photographers? Talk about SCARY!
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Mar 20 2009 in New York, NY. Mary-Kate Olsen was spotted leaving her home in NYC on March 20, rocking a look true to her Bohemian heart and a short, wavy hairstyle that I am loving on her. It's part disheveled and part styled and totally adorable (and much cuter than her hairstyle that she showed off at The Metropolitan Opera's 125th Anniversary Gala last week). For her outfit, MK stepped out in a knit poncho (check out similar styles from Elizabet Gillett Ltd and their Ashley Knit 3/4 Sleeve Sweater in Khaki, or from Smitten and their High Neck Double Breasted Sweater Jacket in Grey) and skinny dark wash denim (like Tag Jeans' Skinny 5 Pocket Jean in Basic Resin Rinse) with tough black leather boots with an interesting gold metal accent. For the rest of her look, MK grabbed an autumnal-colored scarf, two cuffs (snag Jessica Elliot's Open Clover Cuff in Sterling Silver), a large silver ring (try Femme Metale's Floral Heart Ring in Silver) and her favorite circular, John Lennon-esque shades. What are your thoughts on MKO's 'fit here - love it or hate it? I know a lot of you readers out there are Mary-Kate fans, and I have to say, I am too! Another everyday look that she elevated to another level with her cool sense of style. She totally gets it - boring is just not in her vocabulary. Earlier this week, the tiny twin hit up NYC hotspot Greenhouse, an eco-friendly nightclub, with beau Nate Lowman. A source at the club told People Magazine, "Mary-Kate was dancing all night. She was having a blast." Good for her, she's young... she deserves to have fun and cut loose!
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Mar 15 2009 in New York, NY. Mary-Kate Olsen was spotted getting her "prune" on at The Metropolitan Opera's 125th Anniversary Gala in NYC last night, March 15, and I have so much to say about her look that I just need to get it all out now. First, I get that MK is doing the whole pale-skin red-lips look, and while I enjoy her blood red lipstick and orange-red nails, can someone tell me what is going on with her hair? It looks like she either just rolled out of bed or is attending an '80s prom. And the little fishtail braid at the bottom? Not okay, MK! Now, understand, I love MK and she really can do no wrong in my book, but seriously if this was anyone else I think I would definitely throw them under the fashion police bus! MKO started with a floor-length black gown (try Tart's Tisha Dress in Black or Karina Grimaldi's Keyhole Cotton Dress in Black) and a metallic snakeskin belt (take a look at Rough Roses' Double Buckle Waist Belt in Grey), and paired with sky-high patent stilettos, a square metallic clutch (check out CC Skye's Mirror Clutch in Broken Silver), and a slew of chunky rings (take your pick of Rachel Leigh's Nicoli Ring in Gold or CC Skye's Power Ring in Black). What are your thoughts on Mary-Kate's overall look here - love it or lose it? The New York Post is actually singing the praises of her new hairdo, saying, "The teeniest star in the galaxy sported some seriously hot big ol' country hair. And I am loving it. It looks healthy, full and luxurious - but enough about Mary-Kate. I can't say enough about this off the charts sexy side-swept style. Hey, I think this is the first time I've used "Mary-Kate" and "sexy" in the same breath. Fun!" I mean, I can kind of see where they're coming from - what are your thoughts, dear readers? Weigh in!
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Feb 18 2009 in New York, NY. Mary-Kate Olsen was spotted making the rounds at Mercedes-Benz New York Fashion week on February 18, looking immaculately chic as she breezed by the other fashion-goers on the way to her front row seat at the Proenza Schouler show. For a very MK-inspired ensemble, start with a vibrant blue frock (try LaROK's Cross Me Not Dress in Eden or Black Halo's Racer Back Dress with Pockets in Jade) under a bright white coat (like Woo's Martin Coat in White). Next up, slip your feet into an extremely TDF (to-die-for!!!!) pair of heels, snag an enviable clutch (I'm diggin' E.D.E. Studios' Zipper Clutch in Black) and toss on a black scarf (the sheer quality of Elizabeth Gillett Ltd's Tallulah Wrap in Black is unique). Jewelry wise, MK stuck to her old adage of "the more the merrier," as she piled on bracelets (similar to Accessories & Beyond's 15 Saints Leather Bracelets in Silver) and rings. I am absolutely obsessed with this whole look - what do you think, readers? If you are like me, and can't get your eyes off of MK's eye-catching shoes, you might be interested to know that they are actually a first look at her Elizabeth & James shoe line! The pair in question are a prototype from the factory, and look to be almost an ankle bootie with asymetrical side cut-outs to show extra skin. Amazing!
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Jan 30 2009 in New York, NY. The elusive Mary-Kate Olsen was spotted leaving the Soho House Hotel in the Meat Packing District of NYC on January 30 with twin sis Ashley, reportedly coming together for a business meeting, but going their own separate ways afterwards. To keep warm, MK paired a long black coat (like Raw 7's Cashmere Peacoat in Black) over another long black sweater (similar to Gold Hawk's Long Chunky Cable Jacket in Black) and slipped into black skinnies (check out Hudson Jeans' Alex 5 Pocket Skinny Jean in Black) and black leather motorcycle boots. Not wanting to stick solely to black, MK added a pop of subdued color with her royal blue circular sunglasses and her grey-blue patterned scarf (take a look at A Graves' Paisley Scarf in Grey). Always one to pay attention to details, MK's finishing touches of cherry red nails, two large rings, and a gold studded leather handbag (Rough Roses' Pamila Hobo in Black is a similar option) really take her outfit to the next level. Even when leaving a business meeting, her outfits are always marvelous! While most of you know that the Olsen twins do have somewhat of a penchant for donning the most elaborate fur coats, they have long been numero uno on PETA's enemy list. It seems that in addition to nicknaming Mary-Kate and Ashley the "Trollsens," an animal activist has now stooped to vandalism to get their point across. The twins' star on Hollywood Blvd. has been scrawled with the words "Fur Hags," a not-so-subtle nickname that PETA has also taken to calling them. Oh, PETA - when will you learn that breaking the law with vandalism is not the way to go? What do you think, CoutureCandy readers... has PETA gone one step too far in the extreme ways they get their point of view across?
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Dec 20 2008 in Pacific Palisades, CA. It looks like Mary-Kate Olsen is bringing back the homeless look for the new year, as she was spotted leaving lunch at Cafe Vida in the Palisades on December 20 looking especially bedraggled. But of course, bedraggled chic! MK started with a floor-length, blanket-inspired coat (check out Gold Hawk's shorter, more practical Short Chunky Cable Jacket in Dusty Olive) that is obviously very warm and cozy, but seems more suited for lounging around the house than bringing out in public to lunch. Under the coat, MK wore a long black maxi-dress, like Karina Grimaldi's Keyhole Cotton Dress in Black, with a scraggly white scarf (Elizabeth Gillett Ltd's Dakota Ruffle Triangle Shawl in Ivory is another option) and gold aviators. Finally, MKO slipped her tiny fingers into two rings, one large silver one that looks suited for Beyonce, and one sparkly round ring, similar to Rachel Leigh's Nicoli Ring in Gold. Meanwhile, both of the twins now have men in their lives, and these guys seem to be getting all the credit for the girls' seemingly healthy weight. A friend of the girls says, "The weight gain is down to the girls being so happy with their current boyfriends. They’re more confident about their bodies now and they’ve relaxed their eating habits. They look great now. Everyone is telling them to keep the weight on!" What do you think, is MK's weight now better than her fragile frame of the past?
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Dec 11 2008 in New York, NY. Mary-Kate Olsen made an appearance at an NYC screening of "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button," held at the Tribeca Grand Screening Room and sponsored by Pamella Roland and Svedka Vodka. Going for a simple yet interesting look, Mary-Kate started with her favorite Louis Vuitton leopard print scarf (A Graves' Baroque Floral Scarf in Blue is an equally interesting choice) and paired with a black frock (Holly's Tunic Kimono Dress in Black is a very MK-esque dress) and a long black coat (check out Suzabelle's Biella Wool Trench Coat in Black). For the finishing touches of her outfit, MKO slipped into a pair of black tights and a pair of unique, black leather heels, and chose an oversized ring (like CC Skye's Power Ring in Gold) and an exotic black messenger bag (take a look at Julie K Handbag's Jules Weekender Tote in Ocean Exotic). While the look is a tad on the plain side (and dare I say it, even a tad on the frumpy side?), I think it is definitely the scarf that adds a much needed color pop. What are your thoughts on MK's look here? In other MK news, there were some rumors spreading that the little Olsen had a pea in her pod. Not true, says the mini mogul. A friend close to Mary-Kate told Us Weekly, "They found the pregnancy rumor hilarious. They aren't having children just yet, but that doesn't mean the couple isn't a strong one. It's really cute, and they're having a good time." I personally can't imagine Mary-Kate getting pregnant just yet, but then again, I couldn't really imagine Nicole Richie either and she definitely did!
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Nov 20 2008 in Soho, New York. While twin sis Mary-Kate was off in Dubai at the launch of Atlantis at the Palms, Ashley Olsen attended the relaunch of the Mango Flagship Store in Soho, New York last night, November 20, sticking to basic black for her outfit. For a similar look, check out Woo's Janis Dress in Black or Suzabelle's Galliano Swing Dress in Black (both of which have pockets, like Ashley's), and pair with classic black pumps and a bold gold watch. Keep the jewelry to a minimum and go for a messy wave for the hair, and you'll be all set. While there have been rumors circulating lately that Ashley might possibly be engaged to her actor boyfriend Justin Bartha, Ash's rep says that's no so. In a statement, her rep says, "Contrary to several tabloid reports, Ashley Olsen is not engaged to be married. Ashley is dating Justin Bartha and they are very happy." A smart move, I think- Ashley is a little too young to already be tying the knot!
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Oct 30 2008 in New York, NY. Happy Halloween my dear CoutureCandy readers! I hope your holiday is spooky and safe. And now, to the gossip! Ashley Olsen strolled up to the Letterman studio for her appearance on The Late Show yesterday, October 30, looking polished in an all-black ensemble. Starting with a LBD (check out Beau Soleil's Beau Boat Dress in Noir) and a long black coat (like Holly's Button Knit Coat in Black), Ash finished off her look with long circle earrings (I'm sure Vevina Juji's Dark Chocolate Earrings in Silver are a little more wallet friendly than Ash's) and striking heels. Simple, sophisticated, and chic! Ashley was in NYC to promote her new book with Mary-Kate, "Influence," that I have yet to pick up (it's on my to-do list!). However, at a recent book signing at Barnes & Noble, an exciting day for many fans turned ugly. PETA protesters wore mocking troll masks and shouted at the twins outside of the event, and a spokesperson for PETA says, "People who still wear fur haven't woken up to the fact that a big, dead animal on your back makes you look like a troll. Compassionate fashionistas know that real beauty comes from the heart, something that the Trollsen Twins seem to lack, considering all the animals they've killed for their clothes." Ouch! What do you think, do you agree with PETA, or do you think MK&A should wear whatever they want (including fur)?
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Oct 07 2008 in London, England. So much for the rumors! I am totally reading Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen's body language here, and they are totally sending out the we're-stronger-than-ever vibe. Posing at the London debut of their Elizabeth and James line at Selfridges last night, October 7, MK&A look edgy, youthful, and overall: to die for. The girls stuck to a darker color palate, mixing leather with a play on showing some skin (trust me, this is showing skin for them). MK started with a pair of over-the-knee leather boots, and working her way up, wore an oversized blazer (like Signorelli's Logo Blazer in Black) and sheer scarf. Love the new hair, too! Ashley started with black latex leggings and a sexy corset top, paired with a black coat (like Ecoganik's Mia Jacket) and architectural heels. They always turn it out. While the girls are currently building their empire overseas, it seems that there have been reports lately that the girls have upset their New York City neighbors with their loud partying antics. Allegedly, the girls' constant bodyguard and paparazzi presence upsets the neighborhood's residents, as well as the twins partying late into the night. The twins' rep told OK! Magazine "If there were significant issues, you'd think the neighbors would address Mary-Kate or Ashley directly, rather than calling the media." Oh snap!
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Sep 23 2008 in West Hollywood, CA. Mary-Kate Olsen was photographed leaving the Neil George Salon in West Hollywood on September 23, and I must say... I haven't seen her hair this blonde (or washed and combed!) in a long time! I love the length and the textured layers- lookin' good, MK! For a similar outfit to her kickaround-town look, make sure to keep one word in mind: layers. Start with an oversized black tee (like Signorelli's Winged Tee in Black) and layer over another white tee (take a look at Rails' Kenna Scoot Tee in White)- make sure to get both of these in large, girls! Next, pick up a black skirt (Laura Dahl's Hockney Mini Skirt in Black is an interesting option) and a vintage pair of biker boots, and don't forget the accessories. MK chose a long, purple patterned scarf (Alchemy's Baroque Floral Scarf in Blue has a gorgeous pattern) and Ray-Ban aviators for the day, and finished everything off with a huge gold statement ring (I'm loving Rachel Leigh's Lion Ring in Gold). While this outfit is nothing new or special, MK always works it out, even if it's hard to see exactly what she's wearing! While the girls have pretty much already taken over the fashion universe (with their two lines, Elizabeth and James and The Row, their upcoming jewelry line, and their enviable status as modern-day style icons), it seems that their takeover is not complete yet. The girls are set to launch their own shoe line, also named Elizabeth and James, in collaboration with Steve Madden, Ltd. Ashley says, "Mary-Kate and I found Steve Madden to truly understand our design philosophy and how we want this brand to grow over the coming years. They have the resources and talent to help execute our vision for the Elizabeth and James brand." MK chimed in, saying, "We are excited to partner with Steve Madden to create the new Elizabeth and James footwear line. With their proven experience in all aspects of design, production and distribution, we intend to take the contemporary shoe market to a new level." Since they are working with Steve Madden, the shoes shouldn't be outrageously expensive, but I do have to wonder what the price point will be. What do you think- are you excited by the news of the twins' upcoming footwear collection?
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Sep 07 2008 in New York, NY. Ashley Olsen made a stunningly chic and sophisticated appearance at Calvin Klein's 40th Anniversary Celebration in NYC on September 7, looking every inch fresh and age appropriate. Wearing a black and white dress (Tricia Fix makes two similar frocks, the Siva Cocktail Dress in White and the Rene Mini Dress in Black, both of which give off the Ashley Olsen slash CK vibe) with black patent t-strap stilettos, Ash accessorized with a gold watch and matching bracelet (check out Accessories & Beyond's Cord Bracelet with Charms in Gold) and a cream colored bag (like Posse New York's Catalina Bag in Tan Pearl). I'm also loving the slightly mussed hair with the nude lip and dark eye- she definitely knocked it out of the park with this one. Bananas. In other Olsen news, it seems that Ash and MK are possibly feuding over their fashion line, The Row. In Touch Weekly reports, "Ashley really wants to be a respected businesswoman and be taken seriously. MK does too, but she hasn’t been willing to give up her lifestyle and act like an adult for their job. So Ashley is now distancing her twin from the couture line. She reportedly decided MK should not be involved with The Row and has asked her to step back from her current responsibilities until she has her personal life together." The source adds that Mary-Kate will focus on Elizabeth and James, which "is tough because The Row was so much of Mary-Kate’s idea. Mary-Kate has a unique fashion sense." What are your thoughts on this alleged rift? On a side note, The Row is starting the process of their first men's collection. Wahoo for me!
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Sep 04 2008 in New York, NY. Not one to attend too many events, tiny twin Mary-Kate Olsen was spotted at the Pre-Fashion Week Dazed & Confused Magazine MINI Rooftop NYC Bash on September 4, looking fairly conservative (for her!). In a black coat (check out Laura Dahl's Keats Jacket in Noir) and black stilettos, MK accessorized with tons of bracelets (like Accessories & Beyond's Cinderella Leather Bracelet in Pink and Brian Nagourney Jewelry's Forget Me Knot Bracelet in Black) and a funky, red and grey fringed bag. Looks like 'lil MK got a haircut and some waves, too! What do you think of her look here- is she rockin' it, or do you expect a little more fashion forward edge from Mary-Kate? At the event, MKO was spotted drinking a beer and swaying to the sounds of MGMT, meeting up with friends that showed up later. Sounds like fun! In other Mary-Kate news, it seems that rumors are spreading that she cheated on her latest beau, Nate Lowman, with none other than Jonah Hill! A source says, "Olsen and Hill were spotted getting cozy at Los Angeles' Château Marmont hotel on Aug. 26- just one night after the famous twin stepped out to a rock concert with beau Nate Lowman. It was a shock to see Mary-Kate together with, of all people, geeky Jonah. Mary-Kate and Jonah sat close together and seemed totally into each other. They were both wearing plaid shirts that almost matched. It was the cutest thing. I'm sure Nate would have been floored to see the spectacle - the poor guy is being two-timed." Ouch! I wonder if there's any truth to this sighting?
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Aug 25 2008 in Hollywood, CA. Look who stepped out of the 1992 time machine! It's little Mary-Kate Olsen at the Radiohead concert at the Hollywood Bowl on August 25. In a pantless homage to 90's grunge, MKO picked an oversized flannel shirt (check out 3J Workshop's embroidered Canyon Country Hooded Shirt in Brown) with sandals and a black bag (similar to Lesa Wallace Handbags' Patent Leather Ricky Bag in Noir). Accessory wise, she stuck to the usual suspects: oversized rings (like Femme Metale's Rectangle Ring in Silver) and tons of bracelets (I love the pretty simplicity of Jewel by Bear's Amethyst Bracelet in Gold). Weren't your legs a little cold though, MK? I know that I have posted this Mary-Kate quote before, but I came across it again recently and thought that it might be relevant again today. When asked about what she would like to but can't due to the pressures of fame, MK replied, "I would love to be able to swim in the ocean in Malibu. But that is asking for a bikini shot. That’s inviting something that I don’t want to happen. I don’t need to be on a Who’s Skinny, Who’s Fat, Who’s Looking Healthy, Who’s Not Eating?’ list." While I do have the tendency to feel bad for her, a prisoner of her fame, on the other hand... she can go cry into her billions of dollars! But, we all know money doesn't buy happiness (temporary happiness, yes... but not deep down happiness), what are your thoughts on that quote?
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Aug 21 2008 in New York, NY. Ashley Olsen was spotted leaving a NYC Starbucks with a Passion iced-tea and a male friend on August 21. For her look, Ash was seen in an unseasonably warm wool trench coat (check out Suzabelle's Biella Wool Trench Coat in Black) over a grey tee (similar to P.G.D. Style's Basic Tee in Clay) and dark wash skinny crop denim (James Jeans' Alex Skinny Crop Jean in Neo Tulsa). Letting her hair flow free in the wind, Ashley accessorized with an oversized pair of shades and simple black sandals (check out Matiko Footwear's Katia Sandal in Black). Wonder what's in the bright blue plastic bag of hers? Hmmm... food for thought! While the twins have been keeping a low profile as of late, they are definitely gearing up for a publicity onslaught in the very near future, with the release of their book, "Influences." In the meantime, People Magazine reports that Ashley and low-key boyfriend Justin Bartha were spotted "snuggling over margaritas and guacamole at Dos Caminos SoHo with boyfriend Justin Bartha. The happy couple sat on the same side of their booth and watched the Olympics together on television." How cute! That is such an adorable mental picture. What do you think- have you been keeping up with the Olympics?
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Aug 16 2008 in New York, NY. Mary-Kate Olsen was spotted out and about in New York's East Village on Saturday, August 16, with her rumored new beau, Nate Lowman, looking at ease and seeming to not mind the shutterbugs snapping away. Sporting her signature plaid (snag 3J Workshop's San Simeon Shirt in Pink in a large and tie it sloppily around your waist a la Olsen), Mary-Kate wore a floral mini with a black sweater (like Qi's Chiffon Cardigan in Black) and flat black boots as she strolled along. Accessory wise, MK chose oversized rings (Femme Metale's Koi Ring in Sterling Silver is just the right size), an armful of bracelets and a black bag (similar to Rough Roses' Whitney Tote in Black) for her day out. Classic MKO! It seems like almost every star has an ex-bodyguard who eventually ends up talking to the press, and Mary-Kate's former henchman is no exception. The National Enquirer (remember the source here, people) is speaking out about the tiny twin's former partying habits, saying, "MK and friends were all at a party together. Then there were her friends who definitely did drugs. I especially remember three hangers-on, two guys and a girl. I would call them drug dealers. I saw them with cocaine, and they also tried to provide it to other people. I also saw them with 'Pures,' which are tablets like Ecstasy." He continued, "Because she’s so tiny, a little booze would have a big effect on her. Colleagues told me that on at least two occasions she had so much to drink that she had to be carried to her car. Even in high school, she liked to drink vodka with fruit juice or mixer. Mary-Kate would get so blasted that her sister Ashley would pull her aside and tell her to stop." MK is young and likes to party and sometimes gets a little carried away, is anyone surprised by this? Not me!
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Jul 28 2008 in Los Angeles, CA. The eternally disheveled and eternally fantastic Mary-Kate Olsen was seen out and about in Los Angeles yesterday, July 28, toting along a bottle of Smartwater to stay hydrated during her errands. For her 'fit, MKO chose a patterned top (Parameter's Print Top with Beads in Black and White has a similar pattern) with her cutoff denim shorts (the wash is similar in Joe's Jeans' Braided 5 Pocket Short in Berkley) and a black sweater tied around her waist. MK slipped on a pair of silver aviators (like JeeVice Optics' Crybaby II Sunglasses in Silver) as well as a pair of heavy-duty mid-calf leather sandals and matching black leather bag (check out Lesa Wallace Handbags' Ricki Bag in Black) for her day on the town. In other Mary-Kate news, it seems that the tiny twin is in hot water for totally changing the kitchen of one of her homes and never returning it to its original state. The $15,000/month house is located above the Sunset Strip in Los Angeles, and the owner of the property claims that MK left the kitchen a "disaster." Since Mary-Kate failed to return the kitchen to it's original state, it seems that the owner decided to pocket her $30k security deposit. Drinks on him!
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Jul 13 2008 in Hollywood, CA. Mary-Kate Olsen was spotted out and about in Hollywood on July 13, once again rocking her notorious sky-high black patent leather Chanel gladiator boots. I love these and totally think that MK pulls them off (but then again, what doesn't she pull off?), but I know many of you out there might not agree. What are your thoughts on these statement shoes- love 'em or hate 'em? For the rest of her outfit, MK started with a black oversized blazer (check out Signorelli's Logo Blazer in Black) and a patterned silk top (check out Hope & Glorie's fun Keyhole Top in Black and Ivory) exposing just a peek of her lacy bra, paired with her vintage denim cutoffs (I would suggest starting with a great light wash pair of jeans, like Joe's Jeans' Stardust Flare Jean in Berkley, grabbing a pair of scissors and going to town right at mid-thigh, so that they don't turn into booty shorts) and the Chanel boots. She finished her look off with a black belt (Rough Roses' Contour Belt with Stitching in Black is similar) and a ton of gold necklaces (like Maya Brenner Designs' Jewelry Box Necklace in Vermeil). While we all know that MK has a scene in her new film The Wackness where she makes out with Ben Kingsley, I didn't know that the smooching scene was so easy for her! She is speaking out about filming the lip lock, saying, "It is all part of being an actress. But I was so in awe of Sir Ben I was more nervous about acting alongside him than I was about the kiss." MK and Ghandi, sitting in a tree, k-i-s-s-i-n-g!
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Jun 26 2008 in New York, NY. I just realized that I never got around to posting this sighting of Mary-Kate Olsen arriving at "Letterman" on June 26 in NYC when the now infamous MK vs. Spencer Pratt moment went down! For her late-night talk show appearance, Mary-Kate chose an oversized black frock (similar to Kelly Cushing's Kimono Sleeve Dress in Black, and for a short sleeve, embroidered version, take a look at Gold Hawk's Short Sleeve V-Neck Dress in Onyx Black) with Loubous and a black and gold studded belt (like Rough Roses' Four Row Studded Belt in Black). I'm also loving MK's singular fishtail braid. I smell a trend girls! In related MKO news, it seems that the tiny mogul has been especially buddy-buddy with supermodel Jessica Stam lately, who Mary-Kate sees as a positive influence. A source tells Fox News, "Olsen spent the Fourth of July with Stam in the Hamptons and after happily chowing down at the model’s private barbecue, the girls headed over to another private grill-out at the Estate in Sag Harbor just before midnight." The source then added, "I’ve never seen Mary-Kate in such good spirits, and she didn’t look anything like her old emaciated self. She refused even a drop of alcohol and stuck totally to Snapple antioxidant water."" Good for her! I love Stam, and I love MK, so let's hope this friendship last longer than a New York Minute!
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Jun 25 2008 in New York, NY. I just couldn't resist quoting that little gem that slithered out of Miranda Priestley's poison tongue in Devil Wears Prada to reference Mary-Kate Olsen's floral summertime frock that she wore on June 25 to the after-party of the debut screening of her new film, The Wackness, in NYC. If you are feeling MK's flirty little number, may I suggest LaROK's Tie Front Halter Dress in Multi, Karina Grimaldi's Zuni Mini Dress in Teal Feathers, or Plenty by Tracy Reese's Soft Strapless Dress in Seaside Floral, which are all perfectly pretty to attend any summer soiree. To promote her new project, MK was on "Letterman" and dished that she went to high school with "Hills" villain Spencer Pratt, although the two were not friends. She told Dave that Spencer "did not have a good temper. He used to play on the soccer team... (and) he walked out of a few games. He would walk off the field." And it looks like Dave is no fan of Spencer's either; throughout the interview, Dave called Spencer both "wormy" and "oily." Ha! At least MK looked adorable, and that really is the most important thing ;).
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Jun 16 2008 in New York, NY. Ashley Olsen was seen at the Tribeca Cinemas premiere of "Trumbo" in New York on June 16, and strolled down the red carpet like she was just passing through. No posing here! However, Ash did show up with her new actor boyfriend, National Treasure star Justin Bartha. Don't hide your love, Ashley! The tiny Olsen went for a playful-yet-conservative look, starting with a black blazer (check out Signorelli's Logo Blazer in Black) over a grey tank (like LaROK's Chance Tank in Twill). Next up was a pair of cropped black denim (super similar to James Jeans' Alex Skinny Zip Crop Jean in Black) with a cool black belt (Rough Roses' Five Row Studded Belt in Black is a similar choice) and zippered bag (check out Carla Mancini's Medium Top Zip Crossed Stitch Bag in Black). With all of these similar pieces on CoutureCandy, Ashley's 'fit is extremely easy to emulate. While Ashley is usually a pretty private person, going public with her relationship with Justin is a big step for her. A source told Page Six that, at the premiere, Ashley and Justin "huddled close together most of the night." Precious!
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Jun 16 2008 in New York, NY. Mary-Kate Olsen was snapped strolling through NYC with twin sis Ashley and a bodyguard in tow on June 16, and the girls definitely put their big bulky bodyguard to work; he was seen toting huge pieces of art that the girls just purchased back to their posh NYC home. Mary-Kate's style was (like Jen Aniston's style below) typical MK; she started with an oversized plaid shirt (snag 3J Workshop's San Simeon Shirt in Pink in the highly coveted large size to wear yours like MK) and paired with dark grey skinny denim (check out Denim of Virtue's Patience 5 Pocket Tapered Jean in Dark Grey). Accessory wise, MK flaunted a logolicious Fendi bag, in addition to black gladiator heels and a funky necklace (like Brian Nagourney Jewelry's Lariat Necklace in Black Pearl). While there have been (and always will be) stories lately that the twins are feuding and not seeing eye to eye, new reports claim that MK & A "don't want to see each other." A source close to the girls says, "All meetings for their clothing line, they will not do together. Something happened between them, and they haven't worked it out. It's been going on for a while." While the accuracy of this statement is still being assessed, Mary-Kate has now famously said, "We're just getting there in different ways. Unless you're a twin, you honestly can't know how close twins can be." And I believe her!
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Jun 02 2008 in New York, NY. Ashley Olsen struck a pose on the red carpet of the 2008 CFDA Fashion Awards at the New York Public Library this evening, June 2, in NYC. Leave it to Ashley to always take a risk! While most fashionistas showed up in jaw-dropping gowns, Ash played it cool in a perfectly tailored tuxedo suit. For a more casual take on the modern pantsuit, check out Walter's Tech Stretch Jacket in Black and Tech Stretch Pant in Black, and pair with a white button down, like 3J Workshop's Rebirth Button Down Shirt in White, with a pretty floral detail. Ashley accessorized with a ruby ring, black clutch and leather stilettos, making her appearance at the awards a truly memorable one. What do you think, does Ashley pull of this look? In other Olsen news, it seems that the twins have sold their massive NYC penthouse, and their neighbors could not be happier to see them go. The property sold for $10.45 million, and a former neighbor of the girls told the press that "the bodyguards in their SUVs are always getting in the way of our alternate-side parking routine. You'd think the president was living here. They certainly keep late hours. I was jogging early one morning and they were piling out of their gas guzzlers in their little club outfits." Hello... it's called being young and rich! What else would you expect from the Olsens?
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on May 30 2008 in Los Angeles, CA. Mary-Kate Olsen was seen leaving the Aurelia Adrian Institut de Beaute where the tiny twin was pampered with luxurious spa treatments such as a manicure and a facial in LA on May 30, and I'm not really feelin' MK's kimono-style dress. Kimono no-no! However, she is leaving a spa so I guess I'm a little bit more understanding. For kimono-style pieces that get my stamp of approval, check out Ecoganik's versatile Kimono Tunic Dress in Cement and Ziji's snuggly Kimono Sweater Coat in Black. The finishing touch for her spa-day outfit was a sweet little heart necklace, like Rachel Leigh's Crystal Heart Necklace. In other exciting MK&A news, the girls have now ventured into designing jewelry! Mary-Kate and Ashley joined forces with Council of Fashion Designers of America award-winning jewelry designer Robert Lee Morris to create a line of accessories for Elizabeth and James, and WWD says the line will be mostly "silver and brass dagger necklaces, amorphous knuckle rings and edgy earrings." Color me excited! How about you girls?
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on May 05 2008 in New York, NY. While I realize that there are about a thousand beautiful dresses and outfits that I could post from the "Superheroes: Fashion and Fantasy" Costume Institute Gala at The Metropolitan Museum of Art on May 5, I decided that I am just going to highlight the Olsen twins from this event, seeing as though they dazzled in their respective looks. Think of this entry as more of an "inspired by..." entry, instead of duplicating their exact look, because I think that the girls' choices are as inspirational as they are interesting. While both MK&A chose custom made gowns by Diane Von Furstenberg for the event, we can take cues from Ashley's choice of cutouts and MK's choice of iridescent gold. Check out O.Y.E. Swimwear's Cut Out Monokini Bikini in Black, which also comes in Gold if you're feeling more MK-ish instead of Ash-is, and you want to imitate Ashley's peek-a-boo look by the pool this Spring. If you're diggin' MK's dazzling gold frock, check out Ziji's more casual, silky number, the Tea Party Dress in Gold. Accessory wise, the girls kept it pretty minimal, as MK opted for metallic gold Loubous and gold drop earrings (like Jewel by Bear's Drop Earrings in Gold), while Ashley solely chose a simple clutch (check out Posse New York's Natalie Clutch in Chocolate). While The Mirror thought that MK looked positively gaunt next to "healthier" Ashley, saying, "the contrast between the 21-year-old identical twins was stark. Recovering anorexic Mary-Kate seems to have aged dramatically with worry lines on her face and brittle unkempt hair while Ashley is as gorgeous as ever. No wonder the girls, who seem to have everything, appear so sad." Pretty harsh, and pretty untrue if you ask me. What do you think- who rocked their look better, Ashley or Mary-Kate?
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Apr 28 2008 in New York, NY. Mary-Kate Olsen stepped out to the 3rd Annual Chanel Dinner Party Honoring the Tribeca Film Festival Artist Program on April 28 looking pretty demure , for her! I mean think about it, MK usually wears much crazier outfits than this to events (crushed velvet Marc Jacobs headband, anyone?). She started her look with a sheer black top over a black bra, and tucked it into sparkly bubble skirt (check out Parameter's High Waist Mini Skirt in Black or Laura Dahl's Hockney Mini Skirt in Black for similar, not so glittery options). Next up was a classic yet edgy navy blazer, similar to Signorelli's admirably unique Logo Blazer in Black, which has black rhinestones on the back. Accessory wise, MK piled on the rings as usual, and held onto a patent leather Chanel clutch (for a more affordable yet just as daring option, take a look at Julie K Handbags' Fold Over Clutch in Night Exotic). Don't forget the striped tights and essential Balenciaga boots. While MK has been workin' it overtime to promote for her fashion lines, there were rumors spreading that she has been romancing a Mr. Travis London during a recent promotional visit to Hong Kong. A source told E! Online, "They've been doing their best to kept the relationship private, often arriving separate in public and choosing not to be photographed together at events." Maybe the reason why they haven't been photographed together is because this rumor is just... a rumor! MK's publicist responded quickly to this one, saying, "This is not true. Mary-Kate doesn't know a Travis London. He didn't travel with us to Hong Kong (I traveled with Mary-Kate) and there is no truth to this item." There you have it!
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Apr 03 2008 in Los Angeles, CA. There are few things I love in the world more than an Olsen with luscious, recently shampooed and blow-dried locks! Ashley Olsen was spotted strutting out of the Neil George Salon yesterday, April 3, in Los Angeles, with her long hair blowing in the wind. Beautiful! Ashley started her basic yet stylish outfit out with a loose-fitting grey top (I love the details on Rails' Anika Top in Grey) under a brown leather bomber jacket, and then slipped her tiny gams into a pair of dark wash skinnies (like Deener's Charmer Skinny Jean in Cobalt). Ash accessorized with tortoise shades, suede sandals and a big bottle of Evian (hey, a girl's gotta stay hydrated!). The National Enquirer (I know, I know) is reporting that the girls are getting sick of each other (if I had a dollar for every time I heard this report...) after all these years, due to fights over real estate and business decisions. A source tells the gossip mag, "They just don’t see eye-to-eye anymore and are tired of constantly butting heads. Ashley isn’t an angel, but she’s tired of having to take care of Mary-Kate. One second Mary-Kate is maniacally happy, and the next she’s sobbing. Her mood swings are dragging Mary-Kate down, and finally, Ashley’s decided she doesn’t want to go down with her." Do you buy it? I don't know- I usually take everything the Enquirer prints with a grain of salt...
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Mar 31 2008 in Australia. I'm not sure if these pics of Ashley Olsen flaunting her bikini bod on a balcony in Australia are new or not, but either way, I thought that my Olsen-aholics out there would appreciate the pics. Does anyone know whether or not these are recent? Ashley was caught puffing away on a cancer stick while relaxing and basking in the sun. Wearing a floral teenie weenie bikini (Tyler Rose Swimwear's Hancock Park Suit is similar, if a little more 80's-esque) with her hair pulled back and round brown shades (like Nour's Kiara Sunglasses in Manner Mania), Ash's bod definitely does a bikini good. Ashley has divulged more information of what goes on inside that tiny noggin of hers, as she has spoken out in a recent interview about her clothing lines and aspirations. Ash says, of starting The Row, "All I wanted was the perfect T-shirt. I just sketched out what I wanted, bought some bad fabric and took it to a couple of manufacturers. But then Maxfield [a Los Angeles boutique] wanted it and Barneys wanted it, and then the T-shirt turned into a couple of tank tops and a couple of dresses and a pair of skinny leggings. All of a sudden it was a collection." I love when projects develop organically like that!
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Mar 26 2008 in New York, NY. Mary-Kate Olsen (and her newly cut and what appears to be washed locks!) hit up the shindig for Kate Bosworth's new flick, 21, at the Mercer Kitchen in NYC on March 26. Always one to don the controversial outfits, this one is really a love-it or a hate-it look for the books. MK chose a black silk romper for the evening (check out Guy Baxter's ruffled Ella Romper in Black Silk), paired with a hot pink Chanel belt and classic black Loubs. MK also wore that big costume-jewelry-esque green ring that she is always spotted with, semi-similar to Rachel Leigh's beautifully oversized Snake Ring in Green, in addition to multiple sparkly bracelets (like Jewel by Bear's Small Nugget Bracelet in Gold). In other Mary-Kate news, it seems that there are a few rumors swirling right now that MK might be dabbling in some serious flirtation with none other than "Gossip Girl" star Chace Crawford. A source tells In Touch Weekly that MK and Chace were spotted together on March 12 at Lit Lounge in NYC, and that "they were definitely making eyes at each other." Ooh, making eyes... scandalous! I wonder how many of you out there have "made eyes" at someone. What exactly is "making eyes"? A come-hither glance? A wink? Fill me in! Either way, I think we should investigate whether MK was actually in NYC on that date... because if not, this story can totally be debunked.
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Mar 18 2008 in Los Angeles, CA. Ashley Olsen was spotted getting down to business and leaving her office in Los Angeles on March 18, looking pretty conservative (for her). Wearing super skinny jeans (like Deener's Charmer Skinny Jean in Cobalt) with woven flats, Ash topped her look with an oversized v-neck sweater (check out Autumn Cashmere's Relaxed Fit Deep V-Neck Top in Black) and gold shades (similar to JeeVice Optics' Crybaby II Sunglasses in Gold). She also lugged around some sort of blanket-looking grey thing... you know those Olsen's and their layers! It seems that even though Ashley and MK have more money than like 99.9% of the earth, Ashley still is down to earth enough to slum it on her friends couch instead of heading to a posh hotel. While Ash's $1.6 million Hancock Park house is being renovated, she is bunking with her stylist, Estee Stanley, at her home. Slumber party! How many of you would like to have Ashley stay over? Or... would she have to pay you oodles of dough in order to crash with you? Tell, tell!
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Mar 18 2008 in Brentwood, CA. MKO was spotted grabbing coffee with a male friend in Brentwood on March 18, branching out from her usual Starbucks to what looks like a smaller, independent coffee house (based on the cup). Clad in her fave LV leopard scarf over a long tank (check out Laura Dahl's Penny Tank Dress in Black) and light wash cutoff shorts (try Tag Jeans' Double Belted Short in Light Wash for a more sophisticated look), MK also picked a red velvet jacket and her favorite John Lennon-esque shades for her java fix. Don't forget the jewelry! In true MK fashion, she wore multiple rings (I definitely think Robyn Rhodes' Kimberly Ring in Gold would be Olsen approved), as well as thick gold bracelets (like Rachel Leigh's Snake Bangle in Gold). Parade Magazine recently released their "What People Earn" list for 2007, which is basically just a way to make normal people feel completely inadequate to these teenage bajillionaires. It seems that Disney phenom Miley Cyrus netted $18.2 mill last year, while Mary-Kate took in a "paltry" $17 mill. Wow, I wonder how Mary-Kate is coping with these tiny earnings? Forget Miley and MK, I want to give a shout out to Leona Helmsley's dog Trouble, who made $12 mill last year. HBIC alert! Somebody get me this dog's contact info- I wanna befriend it so that I can get on that will!
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Mar 11 2008 in New York, NY. Mary-Kate Olsen worked it at The American Museum of National History Winter Dance Sponsored by Roberto Cavalli in NYC on March 11, wearing a fur that has a bit of faux-ness to it, don't you think? For the rest of her "dance" ensemble, MK paired a long, flowy, patterned dress (Tricia Fix's Renta Long Velvet Dress in Sage and ZG by Grimaldi's Betty Chiffon Dress in Rust Peacock are similar) with a gold belt (like Linea Pelle's Metallic Sculpted Belt in Gold). Add on a to-die-for croc clutch, the aforementioned fur and tons and tons of gold bracelets (start with Jessica Elliot's Cut Out Bangle in Gold and Rachel Leigh's Audrey Bow Bangle Set in Gold), and you'll give MK a run for her money. MK has been stirring up a bit of controversy lately, as rumors are spreading that she has been dating a man who is a dead ringer for Heath Ledger. The man in question, Italian playboy Lapo Elkann, was spotted with MK on numerous occasions at Paris Fashion Week. A source says, "Mary-Kate and Lapo seemed very cozy. Lapo's a good-looking guy, and Mary-Kate seemed to love the attention she was getting from him." Hmm, I wonder if this has anything to do with the fact that he bears a resemblance to Heath, or if that's just Mary-Kate's type?
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Mar 01 2008 in Paris, France. MK Olsen was spotted leaving the Fendi party in Paris, France on March 1, looking like she was going for a walk through a fashion jungle with her super-long LV leopard print scarf. For more leopard goodies, check out ZG by Grimaldi's NEw Michael Mini in Violet Gold Leopard, Betsey Johnson's Cropped Cardigan in Blush Leopard and Julie K Handbags' Cosmo Leopard Bag. Mary-Kate also wore a black coat (check out Ecoganik's Mia Jacket in Black). While this look is definitely a whole lot more restrained than the last MK look I posted about (studded metal jacket and orange Wayfies), it does still scream Mary-Kate. While there is not a lot of new MK news to report, I wanted to get this sighting up there for any of you who were doubting whether or not leopard is still chic. I forgot who said this, but I recall this quote that went something like "to wear leopard print, you either have to be ridiculously rich or incredibly poor". Do you agree?
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Feb 29 2008 in Paris, France. The always edgy Mary-Kate Olsen was spotted strolling the streets of Paris on her way back to her hotel after the Chanel show on February 29, sporting a look that only a select few (MK and Kate Moss being two of them) can pull off. Wearing Givenchy's undoubtedly heavy and unmistakeably chic studded metal jacket (love it or hate it? I think I LOVE it) with neon orange Wayfarer-esque shades on top, MK paired a black mini skirt (like LaROK's Rita Skirt in Black) with black leggings (you can't go wrong with Laura Dahl's Longfellows Leggings in Noir) and her favorite Balenciaga boots. Taking a closer look at MK's jewelry, I have to say I'm diggin' the whole stars-and-moon motif she has going on with her necklace. Jennifer Zeuner Jewelry's Large Crescent Moon Necklace with Diamond is right on track, as well as Rachel Leigh's super-MK-esque Snake Ring in Green. I am constantly putting this question out there but I always love to keep asking it, do you think that MK's unconventional take on fashion pays off (risks often do deserve rewards), or do her outlandish duds make her seem like she has landed from another planet? I think you know by know which stance I take, how about YOU?
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Feb 28 2008 in Paris, France. Mary-Kate Olsen was front row center at the Giambattista Valli fashion show in Paris, France yesterday, February 28, with her similarity #2 to Nicole Richie- the two-tone Chanel shades! Who wears them best? MK did her thing in all black, starting with a tunic-style LBD (check out Gold Hawk's Crew Neck Dress in Onyx Black and Kushcush's Wonder Mini Dress in Midnight), and paired with black tights and platforms. Not one to skimp on jewelry, Olsen mixed and matched silver and gold rings (I'm loving Rachel Leigh's Audrey Bow Ring in Gold and Femme Metale's Koi Ring in Sterling Silver) for a look that is uniquely hers. If you are a big fan of MK&A, it seems that a new peek into their lives will be available to you soon. The twins are working on a coffee table book titled "Influence," in which they will interview a few of the people who influence and inspire them the most. And no, they aren't going to interview the crazy bag lady on the street corner, they are actually going to be speaking with people such as Bob Colacello, Terry Richardson, Jack Pierson and Christian Louboutin. The book will also include "exclusive photographs of Ashley and Mary-Kate from world renowned photographer Rankin, and a wide variety of other never-before-seen materials and interviews from Mary-Kate and Ashley's personal collections." Sounds like a must have!
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Feb 19 2008 in New York, NY. Tiny twin Mary-Kate Olsen was spotted ducking out of her office in NYC on February 19, rocking similarity #1 to fellow fashionista Nicole Richie of late: her edgy Balenciaga boots that she's been wearing forever! Nic was spotted wearing the same pair in LA on February 23, and this isn't the only love-it-or-hate-it couture piece the two seem to share. I'll reveal that one in an upcoming entry, but can anyone guess what I'm talking about? A hint: it's not Balenciaga. MK stayed warm in the chilly New York weather in (of course) a fur coat over a black tunic (check out Signorelli's V Neck Tunic in Black) and with her staple destroyed skinny jeans (start with James Jeans' Flip Flop Straight Leg Jean in Neo Tulsa, grab a pair of scissors to tear up the knees, and the rest is Olsen history). Accessory wise, Mary-Kate threw on a grey scarf and slipped her petite little fingers into a few statement rings (like Rachel Leigh's Lion Ring in Gold). For your daily dose of ridiculous Olsen news, it seems that a source has told Star Magazine that Hugh Hefner has his sights set on bagging the twins for the magazine. The source says, "Hef thinks the twins are every young man's fantasy." Keep dreaming, Hef! The source goes on to say that "They're all about high-end fashion these days. They want to do Vogue. Besides, the twins aren't getting along right now. Ashley is jealous because Mary-Kate is getting all the acting roles." Oh please! Ashley just said that she is completely passionate about taking charge in the twins' fashion line while MK tackles acting. Good try, though, source!
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Feb 07 2008 in New York, NY. Ashley Olsen was spotted leaving a party at the Bowery Hotel in NYC on February 7, clearly hoping that the photogs would get up outta her face. Going for a basic (yet still extremely Olsen-ish) ensemble, Ash started her look out with a bright pop of color, her bright blue scarf. Next up was a pair of black leggings (like Laura Dahl's Fancy Dancers Leggins in Noir) under her Balenciaga knee-high boots. On top, Ashley paired a heather grey top (like Woo's Mira Pullover Tunic in Heather Grey) with a black blazer (check out LaROK's Rebecca Cropped Jacket in Black) and slung a black leather bag over her right shoulder. And of course, no Olsen would be complete without her own personal bodyguard. It seems that Ash has been busy promoting her fashion line The Row lately, and popped up at a boutique in Dallas, Texas earlier in the month. Ashley also spoke out to WWD about the newest collection of the line, which boasts 110 looks, up from the previous seasons (now) measly 18. Olsen says, "I don't want to expand too far too fast. I just take it one day at a time. There is endless opportunity, and I want to make the right choices. I don't see why it can't grow further and further." Very true, A! The new collection's pieces range from basic tees to fur outerwear, and will undoubtedly only expand from there. Can't wait to see!
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Jan 18 2008 in Park City, Utah. Mary-Kate Olsen was spotted strolling the streets (and actually smiling AND waving to photographers, much to my shock) of Park City, Utah on January 18, as she made the rounds at the Sundance Film Festival. Keeping warm in the chilly, snowy Utah weather, MK started her outfit with, of course, a scarf (like Raw 7's warm Street Scarf in Ivory). Next up is a long, snuggly coat, like Rails' shorter Nia Tapered Jacket in Black, paired with matching black leather gloves. Down below, MK rocked her favorite pair of faded black denim (check out Denim of Virtue's Patience 5 Pocket Tapered Jean in Black) over her shoe du jour, Doc Marten-esque black boots. The finishing touch? Her favorite sunglasses (although we all know the sun isn't shining in Utah) that she has been spotted wearing everywhere lately. While MK is in Utah promoting her film The Wackness with Ben Kingsley, she has been featured on TMZ quite heavily today due to the extremely tragic passing of Heath Ledger. There were rumors circulating that Ledger died at an apartment owned by Mary-Kate, however, these rumors have been proven to be false, as the NYPD confirmed to TMZ that Ledger was not at an apartment owned by Mary-Kate Olsen when he passed away. News of Heath's death has shocked the world today, and he will definitely be missed by his fans and all who knew him, including Mary-Kate. Sad.
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Jan 08 2008 in Tribeca, NY. Eternal trendsetter Mary-Kate Olsen was spotted parked outside of Bubby's restaurant in Tribeca, NY on January 8, 2008, smoking a ciggie and chattin' away on that BlackBerry of hers. Wearing her favorite look of late (plaid), MK dressed for a day of errands (and without wearing ANY fur!!) in black skinny jeans (what else- like Denim of Virtue's 5 Pocket Tapered Jean in Black) with a black and white plaid shirt, John Lennon-esque shades, and a grey tailored blazer. Down below, it seems that Mary-Kate had a switcheroo up her sleeve, as she started the day in her super 1990's inspired Doc Marten-esque boots, and swapped for a pair of killer heels (prob Lobou's) for later on. Accessorizing to the nines like always, MK went for the gold for her jewelry selection, so for a definite MK-approved look, snatch up Rachel Leigh's Lion Ring in Gold and Jewel by Bear's J'aime Double Ring in Gold. For her day in Tribeca, MK toted around one of her numerous Balenciaga bags, for a more affordable option, choose Linea Pelle's similar Dylan Large Speedy Bag in Mahogany. While everyone knows that Sundance is beginning today, Thursday January 17, it seems that one of the most buzzed about flicks thus far is MK's picture, The Wackness, co-starring the legendary Sir Ben Kingsley. Allegedly, tickets to the film have sold out, due to the much talked about kiss between MK (who is currently 21) and Kingsley (who is 64, if you're keeping track). It seems that whether it's fashion or film, MK is always one to stir up a good controversy.
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Jan 05 2008 in West Village, NY. The always wonderfully controversial and fashionably-edgy Mary-Kate Olsen was spotted having a late lunch in West Village on January 5, and of course covered herself up from the prying flashbulbs of photographers. It really makes no sense to me why PETA hates MK so much, I mean, can anyone even remember the last time she was seen wearing fur? Ok, all kidding aside, I know that there is the ongoing debate of whether wearing fur is wrong, but MK doesn't seem to care what anyone else thinks and just does her own thing. While I'm keeping my opinions on fur out of this, I do applaud MK for daring to go where others won't and staying true to her own sense of style. Spotted wearing a vintage-looking fur with a green silk Asian-inspired top (check out Walter's Charmeuse Bow Top in Emerald, or for a beautiful, Asian-inspired garment, check out 3J Workshop's Geisha Tunic in Natural), black skinny jeans (like Deener's Highwaist Cigarette Jean in Tar), black boots and rings galore (Rachel Leigh's Audrey Bow Ring in Gold is similar to the one MK is wearing on her ring finger), MK's look is either love it or hate it. And the infamous Mr. Blackwell definitely seems to hate it. He named Mary-Kate third on his annual Worst Dressed List, calling little MK "a tattered toothpick trapped in a hurricane". Harsh (but kind of hilarious)! Mr. Blackwell also decided to take pity on Britney Spears this year, saying, "I felt that it was inappropriate at this time to make comment, when her personal life is in such upheaval. I hope 2008 is a better year for her." How kind of him. What do you think though, who deserves to be higher on the Worst Dressed List, MK or Brit-Brit?
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Dec 28 2007 in West Hollywood, CA. As Ashley was all smiles for the camera in December, Mary-Kate Olsen appeared a bit more camera shy when paparazzo spotted her shopping for booze at a liquor store in West Hollywood on December 28. However, I wonder if MK's hand gesture is telling the paps to STOP, or saying HI to them? In her signature influential style, MK shows what makes her a modern fashion icon. Mary-Kate began her look with a pair of black skinny denim (check out Denim of Virtue's Alice Tunic in Black) and an olive green scarf. MK accessorized her look in oversized gold rings (check out Rachel Leigh's Domed Ring in Gold) and gold and silver chains and bangles (look at Mickey Lynn Designs' Set of 3 Hammered Bracelets in Silver). MK's look was completed with a black leather handbag (check out Aaneta's Muddy Bag in Large). After spending her Christmas out east in New York, MK headed back to Los Angeles to spend the New Year in a much warmer and relaxed environment. MK was spotted right before New Years Eve with friend and New York socialite Jared Seligman carrying out bottles of Veuve Clicquot in a Corona box out of Sunset Boulevard liquor store. It is safe to assume that MK and fellow pal Jared were stocking up for a more intimate New Years Eve gathering. Rumor has it that MK invited a few friends over for a more personal approach to New Years Eve with close friends and family... looks like this intimate approach becoming an ever growing trend for A List celebrities.
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Dec 09 2007 in West Hollywood, CA. Ashley Olsen was photographed running errands in West Hollywood on December 9, and (as unbelievable it is for me to type this) was actually smiling for photographers! I hope you were sitting down for that. Going for her typical layered, classic style, Ash wore a black jacket (check out Rails' Nia Tapered Jacket in Black) over a plaid shirt and plaid scarf up top. Down below, it was all about the dark grey skinny denim (like Denim of Virtue's Patience 5 Pocket Tapered Jean in Grey), which also come in dark grey and black shades) with strappy black flats. Accessorizing with her fave black Birkin and aviators, Ashley's style is always a little more conservative than twin sis Mary-Kate, however she definitely makes it all her own. In a rumor filed under the "yeah right" category, Life & Style Magazine is reporting that Ashley is losing weight, and quick. Sources say, "Ashley's hoping that if she can lose weight, she can compete with her twin. Ashley is living on a diet of coffee, water, salad and sushi, chased by nonstop exercise. She'll eat, then go home and do aerobics to make sure she doesn't gain any weight." Battle of the skinny twins! I highly doubt this rumor is true, and if it is then that's pretty sad. I don't think she looks any skinnier than before, though... what do you think?
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Nov 28 2007 in New York, NY. Mary-Kate Olsen was spotted back on the streets of New York after being rushed to the emergency room last week for a kidney infection, which rendered her out of commission for a while. It seems that the tiny Olsen is A-OK, however, and was seen in New York on November 28 doing some home shopping, with a soda and her iPod in tow. Wearing a funky outfit with tons of layers consisting of Ksubi jeans (Deener's Smoker Ankle Jean in Tar are similar and just as great), eccentric black boots, an enormous scarf, red Wayfarers, a leather jacket and tons of her favorite thing, costume jewelry. Accessories & Beyond's Assorted Charms Leather Bracelet in Red and Rachel Leigh's Lion Ring in Gold are two pieces that MK would definitely swoon over. In other Olsen news, it seems that the twins have put their 12-room Greenwich Village condo on the market for a whopping $12 million, when they paid only $7.3 mill for it back in 2004! If it sells, they can make a cool $4.7 million without doing a thing. Ah, and the rich get richer.
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Nov 26 2007 in New York City, NY. Mary-Kate Olsen was spotted by photographers on a late night out in NYC on November 26, completely surrounded by her entourage AKA bodyguards and assorted musclemen. Bundled up in a warm black coat (I'm loving LaROK's Motorcycle Coat in Black) with a maroon scarf, super-skinny jeans (check out Deener's High Waist Cigarette Jean in Carbon) and Balenciaga boots, MK truly never disappoints with her cutting-edge style. Are you loving those Balenciaga boots, or are you not so into 'em? Personally, I think they're perfect for MK. It seems that while the Olsen's were in NYC hitting up various events and openings and putting their megabucks condo on the market, they were also putting the finishing touches on their new LA residence. The girls allegedly downsized from their $5 million Bel Air pad and are moving into a newer, smaller home in Los Angeles. What do you think... were MK&A right to downsize their manse to something smaller and a little more down-to-earth? Oh, who am I kidding. The Olsens will never be down to earth, they've got more money than like 99% of the world and they're only 21!
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Nov 15 2007 in New York, NY. Mary-Kate Olsen definitely turned heads on the red carpet of the Seventh on Sale Dinner Gala to Benefit HIV/AIDS in New York on November 15, which she attended with designer bud Giambattista Valli. All eyes were on the little Olsen's tootsies, as she rocked out in a pair of neon pink The Victoria Shoe (inspired by Posh Spice herself, Victoria Beckham) with a voluminous party dress (check out Karen Zambos' Velvet Tube Dress in White) and tons of bracelets (Rachel Leigh's Buckle Bangle in Silver would totally be MK approved). MK was recently hospitalized in NYC for a kidney infection, but fear not Mary-Kate fans, hospital sources say that MK "is resting comfortably and will be released in the next day or so." Wonder what the Olsens' have planned for Thanksgiving... hopefully some family time and a whole lot of turkey! On that note everyone, happy Turkey Day!
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Nov 10 2007 in Mexico. Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen were photographed performing their bridesmaid's duties at the wedding of their manager in Mexico on November 10, and I have to say... those are the least hideous bridesmaids dresses I have ever seen! While MK's dress has long sleeves with beautiful details and is a little more romantic (for similar frocks, take a look at Sofira's Mischa Dress in White or Walter's Chiffon Sleeve Dress in Cream), twin sister Ashley's dress is more simple and elegant (for a shorter version, check out Hope & Glorie's Cami V Dress in Ivory). While Ashley has been in the media a lot lately regarding her rumored romance with 15-years her senior Lance Armstrong, the girls are hoping to receive some press for something else going on in their life, the launch of their new clothing line, Elizabeth & James. In other interesting Olsen news, it seems that they don't plan on sharing screen time anytime soon. Ashley says, "If we did something in that sense again, it would be in terms of producing." MK echoes her sentiments, saying, "Acting aside, we do everything together." Including attending gorgeous weddings in Mexico, apparently.
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Oct 30 2007 in Manhattan, NY. Ashley Olsen was spotted reuniting with former TV dad Bob Saget for dinner in Manhattan on October 30, staying warm in a basic yet chic fall outfit. Wearing a black leather jacket with an "interestingly patterned" scarf (Raw 7's Street Scarf in White is a funky alternative) and dark wash, high-waisted, wide-leg jeans (check out Joe's Jeans' High Waist Muse Jean in Knightly), Ash made sure to bring along her big black Birkin for the night out. While everyone has been buzzing about Lance Armstrong being Ashley's rumored new boo, Ash herself has stayed mum on whether or not there is any validity to this story. Allegedly, Ashley was seen smooching Lance at the Gramercy Park Hotel's Rose Bar on October 29, canoodling with the sports star, and, sources say, "drinking red wine, nuzzling up to Lance, sitting on his lap and they making out all night. They left together around 2am." The next night, the two reportedly shared a romantic dinner at Graydon Carter's Waverly Inn restaurant, where sources said, "Ashley and Lance turned up the heat on their unlikely relationship. Ashley was being very flirtatious. They were laughing and having a great time." Lance recently split from his relationship with designer Tory Burch, and Ashley has had a history of dating older men (she was only 19 when she dated 30 year old Scott Sartiano!), so this might actually make sense. Still, what do you think, is Ashley too young for Lance?
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Oct 22 2007 in Los Angeles, CA. Ashley Olsen was spotted making a quick-exit from the Neil George Salon on October 22, looking stylish and freshly-washed. In a leather mini-skirt (opt for Joe's Jeans' High Waist Pencil Skirt in Morter, a leather-less alertnative) with a blue hoodie (like Rails' Corado Pucker Hoodie Sweater in Dusty Blue), leopard flats a black shades, Ashley really has stayed loyal to her favorite bag, that black crocodile Fendi number of hers. While both twins have been super wrapped up with their two fashion lines The Row and Elizabeth & James, everyone knows that MK has been busy polishing her acting chops on the set of the hit show "Weeds". Not one to remain on the sidelines, I reported to you previously that Ashley was in talks to star in the film version of Brett Easton Ellis' book "The Informers", and now have a little more info for you regarding Ashley's role. While IMDB.com has Ashley listed in the cast member section of the film, there is no role given to her. Before, all that was known of the part was that Ashley would be playing a "sexually promiscuous girl", a character totally unlike her persona in real life. Winona Ryder, Kim Basinger and Billy Bob Thornton are also attached to the project, so it will interesting to see who will play which characters once the cast list is announced. Being a huge Bret Easton Ellis fan myself, I am excited that this book is finally being turned into a feature film- I just hope they don't butcher it!
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Oct 22 2007 in Los Angeles. Ashley and Mary-Kate Olsen showed up to an intimate soiree honoring the launch of their new line, Elizabeth & James, at the Beverly Hills Neiman Marcus on Oct 22, looking as opposite as can be (besides the twintastic hair color). While Ashley dazzled in a vibrant orange frock (like Ella Moss' Natalie Slip Cami Dress in Flame) with a bright blue scarf, MK went back to black in her crocheted black number (similar to Gold Hawk's eyelet version, the Eyelet Empire Dress in Black, which also comes in white). The night was held so that Neiman's super VIPs could get their hands on the first Elizabeth & James pieces, sans any pesky paparazzi (they weren't allowed inside the store). MK & A took a very hands on approach for this event, doing all sorts of odd jobs including styling the party space and clothing the mannequins. Mary-Kate spoke out about how excited she was for the night, saying, "When I first walked in, I was in shock that there were so many people here already. I sort of ran around and said, ‘Time to shop!’" Fabuloso! What do you think, are you going to be snatching up pieces from their new collection?
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Oct 17 2007 in Los Angeles, CA. Pint-sized mogul Ashley Olsen was spotted leaving her offices on Robertson Blvd. in Culver City on October 17, looking all bundled up even though temperatures have reached upwards of 80 degrees in LA recently! Wearing a caramel-colored leather jacket from her own line, The Row, with a loose grey cardigan (like IISLI's Breaker Cardigan) over a white top (similar to Laura Dahl's York Top in Winter White), a Louis Vuitton leopard print scarf, dark vintage skinny jeans (Citizens of Humanity's Avedon Stove Pipe Pant in Sao Paolo, Christian Louboutin booties and with her requisite Venti Starbucks drink in hand, Ash does the effortlessly stylish look right. Lately, it has not been uncommon for Ash to wear a pair (or two) of killer Louboutin heels a day... on the contrary, it's actually rare for her not to rock them. The reason why she might be up to her elbows in these super-pricey shoes is that she is friends with Mr. Louboutin himself! Later that night, Ash was spotted in the same outfit giggling and posing with Christian at a party in his honor at S Bar in Hollywood, along with fellow fashionistas Rachel Bilson and Hayden Panettiere. Speaking out about her favorite designer, Ashley said, "What I love about Christian is he knows how to take it to the next level with color or studs or whatever. He knows how to push the envelope, but he does it in the right way." As an up-and-coming designer herself, Ashley knows quite a bit about pushing the envelope, as her and twin sis Mary-Kate are often noted for their fashion forward risk-taking. As the cocktail party came to an end and the champagne bottles all had been emptied, Ashley, Christian and and a few other select elite headed to the Chateau Marmont for a late-night dinner. Sounds fabulous!
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Oct 15 2007 in London, England. Mary-Kate Olsen made an appearance at the presentation of Calvin Klein's new collection at P3, Marylebone Road in London on October 15, reppin' her love of elephants on her oversized belt. Wearing a floor-length, kimono-sleeved silk dress (Gold Hawk's Eyelet Empire Dress in White has similar sleeves and a shorter length, while Karen Zambos' Long Cowl Neck Dress in Gold has a similar color and length) with a quilted gold clutch, a red tassel necklace and a ton of eye-grabbing rings (Rachel Leigh's Snake Ring in Green and Square Lux Ring in Jet would definitely be MK approved) and bracelets, the tiny twin once again proves that taking fashion risks pays off. In addition to constantly being a style trendsetter, MK recently wrapped filming her new film The Wackness with the legendary Sir Ben Kingsley, who has nothing but praise for the mini-mogul. Kinglsey recently gushed in an interview that Mary-Kate is "is a genius. She’s great company and a very good actor indeed." This is quite the compliment coming from such a seasoned actor as such as him. MK took a break from all of her hard work this weekend and hit up Hollywood hotspot Teddy's with buds Lauren Conrad and DJ Samantha Ronson for a night out, followed by a long day of shopping. Oh, to be an Olsen!
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Oct 09 2007 in London. Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen attending the premiere dinner of their clothing line, The Row, in London on October 9, rocking matching black and white 'fits. While MK got her polar-bear on with a seriously Sasquatch-lookin' white coat over a black silk dress (like Bellekat's Toni Dress in Black) and patterned tights, Ashley was only a little more conservative in skinny black pants (similar to James Jeans' Sam 5 Pocket Skinny Leg Jean in Black), a black top (check out Laura Dahl's Piccadilly Top in Noir) and jacket with a white scarf (like Elizabeth Gillett LTD's sheer Vanna Scarf in Ivory) and those killer studded Christian Louboutin ankle boots that both twins are obsessed with. This was a big night for the girls, as the have finally and officially turned their dreams of designing fashion into a reality. The dinner featured a long, long table adorned with flowers and candles and guests such as Amy Winehouse and Peaches Geldoff, and was a truly unforgettable affair. The Row is already selling well at stores like Barney's New York and Maxfield in Los Angeles, and features pieces resembling what the twins themselves would wear, like rubber leggings and (of course) skinny jeans. What do you think- would you buy a piece from the trendsetting Olsens' line?
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Sep 30 2007 in Paris, France. Supertwins Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen were seen arriving at Charles de Gaulle aiport in Paris, France on September 30, as the girls jet-setted into town for the beginning of Paris Fashion Week. Seen sporting wintry looks, it seems the twins at least agreed on wearing the same Ray-Ban Wayfarers! Clad in a warm-looking jacket (like LaROK's Jetsetter Max Parka in Black) with skinny black jeans (similar to Joes Jeans' Sam 5 Pocket Skinny Leg in Black), a woven black bag (reminiscent of Antoinette Lee Designs' Besa Stitch Hobo Bag in Black) and super-spiked Christian Louboutin boots (yikes- wouldn't want to be kicked by those!), Ashley looked set to hit the shows, while MK decided to wear a fur-lined jacket with latex pants (how comfortable for a 13 hour flight), black wedges and round black leather bag (similar to Aaneta's The Rock Large Bag in Black). It makes me happy to see Ash and MK attending Paris Fashion Week, because honestly, what front row would be complete without them? While we know that the girls have been taking the development of their two fashion lines, The Row and Elizabeth and James, very seriously, it also seems that MK is taking her role as a devout Christian on the show "Weeds" very seriously too! A source told the New York Daily News that, while at New York's Beatrice Inn with sister Ashley last week, "Mary-Kate grabbed a male admirer and cried, 'Christ saves all! I save all!' Then she ruffled his hair, gave him a kiss on the cheek and told him, 'Consider yourself saved!'. He looked totally stunned and stumbled off." Oh, MK, never one to disappoint in the erratic behavior department.
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Sep 22 2007 in Los Angeles, Ca. Mary-Kate Olsen was spotted leaving the Aurelia Adrian Institut de Beaute on September 22 after getting all pretty-fied, but chose to remain mostly under-wraps as she left the salon. Wearing a skinny pair of faded jeans (like Citizens of Humanity's Avedon Stove Pipe Pant in Sao Paulo) with a loose-fitting black top (similar to Zoa's 3/4 Sleeve Shirred Neck Top in Black), a colorful scarf, a black leather bag (reminiscent of Carla Mancini's Medium Top Zip Crossed Stiched Bag in Black) and some killer heels, MK made sure not to forget her favorite red Wayfarers before she faced the crowd of photogs. While it's not unusual to see Mary-Kate covered up under numerous layers of oh-so-chic clothing, it is something of a rarity to see MK in anything revealing, and she wants to keep it that way. Mary-Kate was quoted as saying that she "would love to be able to swim in the ocean in Malibu. But that is asking for a bikini shot. That's inviting something that I don't want to happen. I don't need to be on a 'Who's Skinny, Who's Fat, Who's Looking Healthy, Who's Not Eating?' list." That's so sad! Poor little MK can’t even go to the beach? It's like she' living in her own little paparazzi prison and I feel bad for her. Then I remember that she was a millionaire at like 2 years old and I suddenly don't feel as bad. She could probably afford to build a tent on the beach to fend off the paps!
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Sep 07 2007 in New York, NY. …in more than one way! Ashley Olsen was seen posing for the flashbulbs at the Prada Epicenter Party at New York's Fashion Week on September 7, playing it a little safe with her fashion choices. Wearing an oversized blue button-down with a white miniskirt (like James Jeans' Mitch Mini Skirt in Aspen White) and brown and white ankle boots and with her hair casually falling loosely around her face, Ashley's classic look is easy to attain. Like MK before her, it seems that Ashley has finally decided to focus more on her acting and is no longer enrolled at NYU. Back in 2005, MK left NYU for "personal reasons", telling New York Magazine that " "she didn't feel safe and was freaked out by the kids who were selling anecdotes to tabloids." I guess Ashley echoed MK's sentiment, and now it's sayonara NYU! Like Mary-Kate's controversial role on "Weeds", Ashley has also taken on a risqué new role in the film adaptation of Brett Easton Ellis' book "The Informers", only known so far to be a "sexually promiscuous girl". Go on with your bad self, Ash!
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Sep 07 2007 in New York, NY. So much MK&A, so little time! Since I just can't get enough of these two, here's Mary-Kate Olsen attending the Prada Epicenter Party at New York's Fashion Week on September 7, opting to go for a walk on the wild side while her sister remained a little more conservative (see below!). Wearing skin tight black latex pants (to tame MK's look a little, go for black jeans, like James Jeans' 5 Pocket Skinny Leg Jean in Black Twill or Hudson Jeans' legging-esque Skinny Leg Knit Pants in Black) with a drapey black top (like Zoa's 3/4 Sleeve Shirred Neck Top in Black), leather stilettos and her new favorite shade of nailpolish- neon pink. MK is the new covergirl of October's issue of Harper's Bazaar, and tells the mag that one of her favorite things to do is "to run around my house naked with heels all the time. It's so funny. All my friends will tell you I love running around in kimonos and jewelry or naked with jewelry." That crazy Mary-Kate! About her sometimes too fashion-forward style, MK says that she "dresses the way I feel instead of looking for what's the new handbag," and that's why I give her so much credit. She does her own thing and knows she always rocks it out. Keep doing your thing girl.
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Sep 01 2007 in Venice, Ca. Is it just me, or does Mary-Kate Olsen seemed to have gone totally wild lately? First, MK got bopped on the head traipsing into Les Deux, and now rumor has it that MK had one wild and crazy night recently at hotspot Teddy's. While she always seems so demure and dainty in public, apparently MK just can't wait to cut loose and tear it up when she goes out at night. Eyewitnesses told X17online.com that "Mary-Kate was wearing a see-through green dress. She was completely wasted; she was humping and grinding against a column with another girl. Then she was flailing all over the dance floor. Later, she made out with various questionable men while friends took pictures. She then fell over onto a table and proceeded to break every glass on the table before toppling over onto everyone sitting behind her. It was shocking." First of all… crashing into a table full of glasses? Ouch! I'm shocked that didn't send the teeny twin straight to the ER. While I'm sure we've all had those nights that we'd like to forget (and probably can't even remember!), I just hope MK's not heading down the dangerous partying road of Lohan! She was spotted dining at Axe Restaurant in Venice, Ca on September 1, wearing a black cotton dress (like Woo's Alexis Dress in Black or Betsey Johnson's Trapeze Dress in Black) with a bright scarf, Balenciaga bag, big funky ring (like Femme Metale Jewelry's Carneilian Caged Gem Ring) and almost orthopedic-looking black gladiator sandals. Showing off a new manicure with her shade du jour (coral- sure to be a new trend), MK also smoked nonstop the entire night (an old trend that needs to be OVER). However, am I crazy or does MK totally rock those shoes?
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Aug 25 2007 in West Hollywood, CA. And no, I don't mean that the risks are getting swept up into going out every night or experimenting with dangerous drugs.. the biggest risks are getting bopped on the head with a paparazzi camera! This is allegedly what happen with tiny starlet Mary-Kate Olsen at hotspot Les Deux on August 24- as little MK was entering the club, a huge paparazzi camera hit her in the head, causing her to fall to the ground and drop her bag and other personal belongings. Almost immediately, her posse helped her up and into the club, where she was obviously tended to by various members of her entourage. Where's Ashley when you need her? Later, when seen emerging from the club, MK was wearing a mad hatter-like tophat to cover any potential bruising action that might have resulted from the blunder. Hey, MK- I know you don't need to get any richer, but all I have to say is SUE THE PAPARAZZO! The whole traumatic experience must have not fazed Mary-Kate too much, as she was seen out in West Hollywood the following day with a big old smile on her face. Wearing a grey top with white Wayfarers, a metallic gold bag (Julie K's Ella Bag in Gold is similar, and for a nearly identical bag in silver, check out Julie's Meg Bag in Silver Python), ankle-length skinny jeans (like Hudson's Vixen Highrise Ankle Jean in Virtue) and a brown leather belt (take a look at Pellemelle's Pilgrim Belt in Chestnut), this is the least wild-and-crazy we've seen MK looking in quite a while! Where are the giant wraps and witch shoes?
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Aug 15 2007 in Los Angeles, Ca. Ashley Olsen was seen burning up the good old credit card at Neiman Marcus in LA on August 15, looking a little less than pleased to see the waiting paparazzi (see photo). Wearing her typical ensemble, which consists of a mini skirt (like Johnson's Opal Mini Skirt in Grey) with a loose-fitting black top (for a similar look, check out Catherine Malandrino's Embroidered Capri Top in Noir or IISLI's Long Top in Black), grey striped scarf, patent leather heels and black aviators, Ashley is rockin' the monochromatic look as usual. Being the cover girl for the current issue of Marie Claire is no easy task (or maybe it is, I mean, I've never been the cover girl for Marie Claire!) and editor-in-chief Joanna Coles is speaking out about her opinions on this Olsen. She says that Ashley is extremely detail oriented, and that, regarding her new clothing line "Elizebeth and James", she's "taken very seriously as a boss. Someone comes up and shows her the label for Elizabeth and James and she’s like, ‘No, it’s too big. Take it down by a third.’” What an eye! Ashley then goes on to tell the mag "I live a very normal life — I have friends; I’ve always gone to school. The part that’s not normal is that I’ve been working since I was 9 months old, but at the same time, it’s completely normal to me." But then again, normalcy is all relative!
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Aug 09 2007 in Los Angeles, Ca. As Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen made their way through LAX on August 9, Ashley braved the paparazzi by only slightly covering her face with her hand; Mary-Kate, on the other hand, covered her face with a hat and was guided along by one of her big burly bodyguards. What a sight this must have been! Wearing super duper skinny jeans (like Yanuk's Visionary Skinny Jean in Raw or Freedom of Choice's Lollapalooza "Victory" Skinny Jean in Dark Halo) with a blue jacket, those Balenciaga "witch boots" she loves so much and a gigantic patent leather bag (check out Moe Bags' Camy Patent Lamb Bag in Janna for a smaller yet similar version of Ash's bag), Ashley definitely has room for a yearlong trip in that huge bag! The new issue of Marie Claire is reporting that MK and Ash share a telepathic bond that is due to the fact that they are twins, as Ashley told the mag that their "bond is really beyond words. I know when she's hurting, I know when she's going through something. I know when she's happy- whether I'm with her or not, I know." Spooky! Ashley went on to say that the girls "both carry the weight of each other," and by the looks of things, Ashley might just be carrying the weight of MK in that huge bag!
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Aug 02 2007 in Los Angeles, Ca. Ashley Olsen left her production office in Los Angeles on August 2 looking serious and business-oriented as is the norm lately, seeming as though she just accomplished an important task. Wearing a black tee (like Woo's Nikki Tee in Black) under an ultra-large belt (try Elegantly Waisted's Ruffle Belt or Linea Pelle's Braided Sash Belt for a similar look) with super skinny black jeans (similar to 7 for All Mankind's Lucy Jean in Black), Ash made sure not to leave the house without her 5 inch Christian Louboutins. I shudder when thinking of her podiatrist bill in about 20 years- ouch! Ash is featured on the cover of September's Marie Claire without twin sis Mary-Kate, and now that MK is going to be featured on this season of Showtime's "Weeds", the twins are doing more and more things on their own. In fact, Ashley recently gave a piece of advice to her and MK's prodigies, Cole and Dylan Sprouse: "The more the public can view you separately... the easier it will be for your future." Talk about words of wisdom only another twin can give!
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Jul 31 2007 in West Hollywood, Ca. With all the hard work they've been doing, SuperTwins Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen decided they needed to do the one thing that makes them happier than anything else—go to Maxfield! For those of you not in-the-know, Maxfield is the twins' favorite store, one of the most exclusive in Los Angeles. Everytime they drop in, the drop thousands of dollars on the hottest designer fashions. While MK opted for a gigantic oversized sweater and her fave pair of Loubous, Ashley's style was a little more classic in cropped black jeans (like Hudson Jeans' Vixen Ankle Jean in Virtue) with a white tee (check out Rails' Agente T in White), a black scarf and patent leather gladiator inspired heels. So chic. Now we all know that the Olsens have conquered the business world, and now it seems that they are also conquering the good-deed world as well! The Olsens have started to endorse Help1Up, an organization which takes used furniture that is no longer needed and donates it to a family in need. Mary-Kate says that "“Ashley and I are happy to endorse Help1Up. There’s no reason why usable furniture should be thrown away when it can instead provide a family in need with basic comfort and dignity.” I love these girls more and more every day!
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Jul 30 2007 in Los Angeles, Ca. Mary-Kate Olsen left the Brent-Air pharmacy and headed to her agent's office on July 30 holding a book and a long brown paper bag, looking like she just took care of business. And that's exactly what MK has been doing a lot of lately- business. Mary-Kate has been photographed in between filming scenes of her show "Weeds" and now stopping off at her agent's office, it's nice to see a young "it" girl who knows how to balance business and pleasure! Wearing a baggy red sweatshirt with a long black tank (like LaROK's Soda Pop Top), charcoal grey skinny jeans (try True Religion's Stella Big T Jean in Dark Grey), ankle boots and the still lingering Alexander McQueen skull scarf, it's nice to see MK throwing some color in the mix. First Jennifer Aniston now Mary-Kate, these girls have gotten over going "Back to Black" and are now bringing some vibrant colors back into their lives for summer! While Ashley hasn't been photographed as much lately as MK has, it seems that Ash is focusing more on the twins' fashion lines while Mary-Kate has been dipping her toes in the acting pond once again. Keep up the good work girls, and remember- stay out of rehab!
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Jul 21 2007 in Los Angeles, Ca. Mary-Kate Olsen came out on July 21 to the Home Depot Center to lend her support to LA's newest soccer transplant slash superstar, David Beckham (along with his wife Posh, Katie Holmes, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Eva Longoria and Arnold Schwarzenegger). Upon entering the stadium, Mary-Kate did something we haven’t seen her do in a long time- smile and wave to the paparazzi! I'm thinking that this has a lot to do with the fact that she was attending an event, instead of just being stalked by the photogs while living her normal life. Wearing super skinny black jeans (like James Jeans' 5 Pocket Skinny Leg Jeans) with a vintage rock tee, a tan cardigan (ParkVogel's Cashmere Ribbed Cardigan is just like MK's) and of course a pair of Christian Louboutins, Mary-Kate's style was casual and of course true to herself. I mentioned that MK has been doing a ton of interviews relating to her upcoming stint on the show "Weeds", but one thing she apparently is not willing to discuss in these interviews is the always touchy topic of her weight. When an interviewer did decide to ask her about this, however, she allegedly rushed out of the interview room with her handlers and ended the interview just like that. Note to self: never ask MK about her weight!
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Jul 17 2007 in Los Angeles, Ca. Mary-Kate Olsen looked chic and uniquely stylish as ever as she headed into her office in Los Angeles on July 17. Wearing a tight black dress (similar to Zoa's Double V-Neck Pleasing Dress) with a pair of Christian Louboutins and her fave Prada fringe bag, MK accented her outfit with a pair of firetruck red Wayfarer-inspired shades. It seems like it's been all work and no play for MK lately, as she is gearing up for the big premiere of her part on "Weeds". Mary-Kate has said how lucky she feels that she was able to mesh so well with the rest of the cast, and how this is a milestone for her because it's the first project that she has been a part of without her twin sister Ashley, and also, to quote MK, the first project she's worked on of any "depth". Also knowing that she is famous for being quite the fashion trendsetter, MK says, of her own style mantra, that it "really depends on my mood. I'll go through a phase where I only wear black, or a shirt and no pants, oh god." And somehow, I think only MK is able to pull that look off.
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Jul 14 2007 in Los Angeles, Ca. Mary-Kate Olsen attended the Showtime Summer and Fall 2007 TCA's on July 14 to promote her role on the upcoming season of Showtime's hit show "Weeds", which marks MK's return to acting twelve years after finishing her eight year run on "Full House". Finally bringing some color back into her wardrobe, Mary-Kate slipped on a long-sleeve blue silk dress (check out Woo's Gina Dress in Light Plum for a more casual dress with a similar cut to MK's- it also comes in Ruby Red and Fiji Blue) with a big snakeskin belt and patent leather peeptoes, but it was her neon orange nails that really caught my eye. Do I smell a hot new nailpolish shade? That same night, MK sat down with "Entertainment Tonight" for an interview in which she talked about the upcoming season of the show. She said that she was "so happy to be invited on the show. It's such a smart show, and everyone's so talented. I really just jumped right in." When asked about what her twin sister Ashley said when she heard that Mary-Kate got the role, MK said that Ashley "hadn't seen the show before I got the part, so when I told her I got a part on 'Weeds,' she said, 'What's that?'"she laughs. "Now she loves the show and she's really happy for me." After seeing Mary-Kate constantly being photographed while living her busy shopping and getting coffee life, I'll be interested to see her return to acting. I think she's gonna rock it!
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Jul 09 2007 in Los Angeles, Ca. As Mary-Kate Olsen grabbed some coffee and showed some major leg on July 9, twin sis Ashley waited patiently in Mary-Kate's Porsche Cayenne, checking out her lipstick in the rear-view mirror. MK slowly strutted her stuff back to her car, wearing what looks like an oversized men's dress shirt with her fringe-tastic Prada bag and those mega-size Balenciaga shoes which she seems to have brought out of retirement. To get Mary-Kate's look, grab Walter's Jacquard Swirl Shirt Dress (which is a little more appropriate to wear walking down the street) and wear it over a little pair of black shorts, like Johnson's Silk Shorts with Cuff. The rest of the accessorizing is up to you, my friend. One warning though- very few can pull off what MK can! I think it's all in her attitude though; she wears whatever she wants, stays true to her own unique style and doesn't seem to care what anyone else thinks- I totally admire that about her. Someone else that undoubtedly admires that about her too is her BF Max Snow, who donned her with a few quite impressive presents for her recent 21st birthday. Max must have shelled out the big bucks for a vintage Hermes Kelly bag (new ones are hard enough to come by!), in addition to a diamond promise ring that he gave her, which is a Snow family heirloom. The intent of the ring is obviously to symbolize the intent to get married, and a source has told In Touch Weekly recently that "Mary-Kate and Max are very serious. They’re practically living together and will probably get engaged before the end of the year… she loves him so much." Someone who might not be so keen to this notion is Ashley, as I have mentioned before how Ash doesn't seem to like the person Mary-Kate becomes when she's around Max. I'm just hoping that Mary-Kate is not forced to choose between her sister and Max, because obviously Ashley will win. She's blood!
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Jun 26 2007 in Beverly Hills, Ca. It’s obvious that Ashley Olsen was a little (make that a lot) more camera shy last night, June 26, than twin sis Mary-Kate, as the duo left Il Sole in Beverly Hills. MK, clad in a long sleeve black minidress (LaROK’s Bikini Tunic and Vanitas’ Eyelet Sheath Dress are similar) with mega-tall Chanel gladiator sandals, didn’t bother trying to hide her face as she left the eatery, but for Ashley, it was another story. Wearing skinny white jeans and a baby blue button up (like For Love and Liberty’s Angel Wings Blouse) with her fave Fendi bag, Ashley did everything she could to hide from the paps. TMZ is reporting that as Mary-Kate hopped behind the wheel of their waiting SUV, Ashley “absurdly kept her head buried between her knees as photogs tried to snap a few photos.” Come on girls, you know they’re going to get a picture anyways, why don’t you make sure it’s a good one? In case you didn’t know, the twins turned the big 2-1 earlier in the month, but did they plan a mega party in Vegas sponsored by a vodka company à la Lohan? Nope. They had a quiet dinner at Chateau Marmont with close friends and family. Love it.
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Jun 09 2007 in Los Angeles, Ca. Ashley Olsen attended the launch of the Sprouse brothers' clothing line (they're the twins from Big Daddy who are represented by MK & A's company Dualstar) on June 9 looking fresh and classic in a pair of black skinny jeans (like James Jeans' Sam 5 Pocket Skinny Leg Jean) that were obviously hemmed to fit her petite frame with a provocatively unbuttoned blue button-up (Cake Couture's Mexico Button Up is a similar, embroidered piece), her gold Rolex and those favorite Balenciaga shoes of hers. Ashley has been focusing on her and Mary Kate's company and two fashion lines while MK has been filming episodes for "Weeds", but allegedly this is not what's bothering her, it's Mary Kate's boyfriend, Max Snow! Friends of the girls said recently that "Ashley never liked him from the get go, and now, as time has gone on, she thinks that he's a bad influence on Mary-Kate. It worries Ashley that Mary-Kate is so passive around him, and lets him do the decision making." Not good! The source goes on to say that "Ashley witnessed it for herself when Mary-Kate forgot to pick up something he wanted at the store. Max was screaming at the top of his lungs things that were awful and insulting. Mary-Kate was teary-eyed and upset, but told Ashley 'He does that a lot --it blows over." Sounds like Ashley is only looking out for MK's best interests, let's hope this man doesn't cause a divide between Hollywood's favorite twins!
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Jun 05 2007 in New York, NY. While everyone is wrapped up in all of the Paris Hilton's back-in-jail drama today (it's getting pretty crazy), it is city important to remember that there are other celebrities who need our attention too! On that note, Mary Kate Olsen was seen in New York on June 5, chatting away on her cell while taking a stroll through the streets. Wearing black skinny jeans, everyone's favorite American Apparel heather grey deep v-neck tee and a pair of black Loubous, Mary Kate looked casual (despite the fact that she is wearing stilettos) the least troll-like we've seen her in a while! It seems that Mary Kate has began filming her episodes of the Showtime series "Weeds", yet is spending considerably more time in the makeup chair than she is actually filming! Allegedy, MK's cigarette and coffee addiction has made her seem older than her actual years (she's only 21), and TMZ is saying that "several crew members were overheard commenting on how surprisingly old [Mary-Kate] looks in person. Her time in the make up chair is used to cover up her dark circles and other assorted blemishes." Well, she is only human!
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Jun 04 2007 in New York, NY. That's a whole lot of names, isn't it? Elizabeth and James are two names you might not be used to hearing when it comes to the Olsens, but these two are set to be just as synonymous with the Olsen name as Mary Kate and Ashley are. MK&A were seen at the The 25th Anniversary of the Annual CFDA Fashion Awards looking hot (I have to say) and very chic. They played on the whole matching black-and-white look they've been banking on lately, and while I'm used to seeing MK wearing all black, white definitely looks great on her also. MK shined in a floor-length white silk dress (Gold Hawk's Leaf Midlength Dress is a shorter, similar white silk dress), while Ashley dazzled in a tuxedo-inspired floor length dress and accessorized with a large silver cuff. Besides the fact that the girls are a constant fixture in the fashion world, they also recently debuted their newest clothing collection, titled Elizabeth and James (named after their younger sister and older brother). This new line will consist of chic and affordable sportswear, and to boost the line's credibility, the twins teamed up with Peter Koral and Jane Siskin, creators of 7 for All Mankind and LaROK. MK&A are excited about this new line, as Ashley said that it is a "clash between masculinity and femininity." Mary Kate went on to say that "we're always going to stay true to ourselves and what we believe is chic and flattering and fashionable. That's something that we really look at in the line." I, for one, can't wait to check it out!
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on May 19 2007 in Los Angeles, Ca. Goodbye "Full House", goodbye New York Minute… hello "Weeds"! It seems that super-twin Mary Kate Olsen has been itching to return to acting ever since getting her fashion line, The Row, up and running, and it seems she has finally returned. It has been reported that MK will be joining the cast of the edgy Showtime series "Weeds", appearing in 10 of the upcoming series' 15 episodes. Mary Kate's will be playing Tara, a devout Christian girl living in a "megachurch" community who will be the love interest of the character of Silas. Talk about a stretch! I've gotta give MK some credit where credit's due; she's playing a character totally unlike herself to stretch her acting abilities, unlike some of today's it-girls (um, hello Lindsay basically playing herself in Georgia Rule… she plays a sensual, rebellious young woman). MK hasn't been on a television series since acting on "So Little Time" back in 2002 with twin sis Ashley, but as of yet hasn't had a chance to play a character besides family-friendly, "PG" characters. Series creator Jenji Kohan says that ""Weeds" isn't your 8 o'clock family fare. It's an adult show with adult subject matter, and we're confident Mary-Kate is right for the role. She came in and read with Hunter and was absolutely charming and real and seemed like a great fit. Audiences have seen only one side of Mary-Kate, but here we'll see her in a whole new light." I, for one, am excited to see whether or not Jenji is right! MK was spotted wandering around LA on May 19, looking casual in a blue hoodie with faded grey jeans (like these True Religions) and a gold cuff. Let's just hope she doesn't break her ankle in those shoes!
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on May 19 2007 in Los Angeles, Ca. Mary Kate Olsen must be getting pretty excited about her upcoming role on the show “Weeds”, because her public sightings are going through the roof lately! Seen running errands with her boo, Max Snow, on May 19, she also appeared to be going on a walk not with her dog, but with her bag! Wearing a black tank under a fur vest (wasn’t she hot in LA??) with dark grey skinnies (True Religion’s Stella Big T’s are similar) with those monster Balenciaga shoes and a gold cuff, what really stole spotlight was MK’s favorite bag du jour, a fringy beast that looks like it should be on a leash! Leave it to Mary Kate to take a fashion risk, but then again, that’s why people either love her style… or love to hate it! It’s been a while since we’ve actually seen MK out and about with twin sis Ashley, I would love to see photographs of an Urth Caffe run like the old days!
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on May 12 2007 in Malibu, Ca. Ashley Olsen made a stop at the Starbucks in Malibu on May 12 to pick up her usual supersize drink, looking pretty true to form as she stuck to the black-and-white look she's been so fond of lately. Wearing a casual white button-down (like For Love and Liberty's Love Angels Blouse) over a basic black cami with skinny trousers (IISLI's Legging Trousers are similar), I have to say Ashley is fast becoming the queen of basic, simple looks. Rumors have been swirling this past week regarding whether or not the Olsen twins would be the first ever twin Bond girls, starring in an upcoming 007 film, to begin filming in 2008. It was reported that one of the producers is very impressed with the girls, and wants them to play good girls in the flick. This rumor has been officially denied, however, with the Olsen's rep, Nicole Caruso, saying that there's no truth to this story. One thing that could have given away the falsity of this article is the fact that whoever wrote it said that the girls were 18, when in fact they both turn 21 this year. Check your facts, false story writer!
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on May 07 2007 in New York, NY. Ashley Olsen left a New York club on May 7 not looking too excited with life, but I think it may just be the result of having a little bit too much to drink! Clad in a skin-tight black mini with black tights, a white button-down under twin sis Mary Kate's favorite black belt (this Elegantly Waisted belt is a similar look) and big blue scarf, Ash showed off more of the look she's been favoring lately. Ashley did the black-and-white-look once again at the Costume Gala in New York City, but this time around had a very sought-after date on her arm: super chic shoe designer Christian Louboutin! Ashley asked him to be her date for the evening, and he gladly obliged. Having Mr. Louboutin on her arm, Ash gained a ton of fashion points that night… in addition to allegedly having lunch dates together and undoubtedly scoring tons of free pairs of shoes! I'm sure tons of girls are jealous of this arrangement the world over.
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Apr 30 2007 in Los Angeles, Ca. Ashley Olsen was seen leaving Maxfield after doing some shopping on April 30, wearing her usual uniform: a black leather jacket, long destroyed tee, black leggings in lieu of pants and a pair of shoes from her outrageous shoe collection. One thing that was noticeable, however, was that she was not carrying her favorite Fendi bag! Instead, she opted for a more basic slouchy black bag, like this Alice Bag by Julie K Handbags. If you want to emulate this look, make sure you don't forget the venti Starbucks, which is always an Olsen necessity. Now we all know that MK&A have been working hard on their super pricey fashion line, The Row, and now their first look-book has appeared online (click here to view). Consisting of pretty basic pieces (with a few exceptions, like the cool jackets) along with a few more risqué items (hello, completely see-through tee!), I'd say they're off to a good start. Just incorporate more of your unique taste and don't play it safe, girls.. that's what has made you fashion visionaries!
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Apr 17 2007 in Los Angeles, Ca. Ok, Ashley's not really walking down the row (especially not skid row!). She's actually walking down a Los Angeles street on April 17, wearing her usual clothing selections (black mini, long white tank, black coat, scarf and her trusty Fendi bag) and of course carrying her venti Starbucks. This little Olsen has been hard at work, however; her life isn't just one big Starbucks-fueled shopping trip. While some of Ash and Mary Kate's line, The Row, has been released, there is still much to do. That’s why Ashley has been a busy busy bee, with meetings at the Beverly Hills Hotel and constantly designing new ideas. While I personally think that the Olsen's style is unique and cool, I don't know if it's worth it to spend around $200 for one of The Row's basic cotton tees. I'm all about the Hanes v-neck 3 pack!
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Apr 14 2007 in Los Angeles, Ca. MK and Ashley Olsen headed to their offices on April 14, doing their now routine "all black and white" thing (save for MK's blue scarf, which adds a muted splash of color). Mary Kate was rocking a superlong black dress with a high waisted belt and round black shades, while twin sis Ashley did her thing in her Wayfarers and a white tank, mini skirt, Jill Sander flats and leather jacket. And while the girls are all too familiar with their pictures being snapped by watchful paparazzi, I guess they aren't used to having (or at least thinking they are having) photos shot by everyday people! At an Iggy Pop show that MK attended recently, concert-goer Jacquie Tellalian was seated right behind the tiny twin, and when she tried taking a picture of the famous rocker, MK's bodyguard blocked her shot because he thought she was trying to photograph Mary Kate! Tellalian later said, "Like what am I going to sell it for, $1.98?" Ouch! I guess a certain girl named Jacquie is not an Olsen fan!
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Apr 12 2007 in Los Angeles, Ca. Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen both hit up Maxfield on April 12, sticking to the black-and-white look they've been very fond of lately. What was quite shocking, however, was the fact that Ashley was actually SMILING for the paparazzi, instead of hiding behind her giant Fendi bag! While I would love to see these twin titans wear some burst of color (this season's hot neon color trends, like an electric blue, would look great on MK), I think they pull off the all-black look to a tee. Mary Kate just always has that "I-don't-give-a-F" attitude about her, which is so hot. Ashley always seems a little bit more reserved, letting MK run wild with her crazy fashion styles (read: ripped leggings and gold chain belt). This may be the reason why MK & A don't want to be role models, although it is well known that many girls look to them as their style inspirations. MK told the Sun-Herald that "my sister and I don't look at ourselves as role models - I think that's a huge responsibility." Very mature.
That being said, to try and steal each twin's look here, starting with MK, go with a pair of black leggings, along with a killer leather jacket, long black tank and huge black shades. For Ashley's more conservative look, pair a black blazer with a white button-up, grey tee, high-waisted black ruffle belt and a pair of black tights with sky-high stilettos. Remember: stick to black!
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Apr 07 2007 in Los Angeles, Ca. Supertwin Ashley Olsen made her daily stop at Starbucks for a couple of ice teas on April 7, rocking a miniskirt with a baby blue button-down, leather jacket, a pair of 'New Wayfarers', a fedora, her fave vintage Fendi bag and a big silver ring. Was she heading to a business meeting with twin sis MK, and being a kind and considerate twin by bringing her a beverage, or was she just ensuring that she doesn't fall prey to that "dehydration" phenomenon that is sweeping all of Hollywood's It Girls lately? Either way, Ashley's look is working for her, although that bag is nearly half as big as she is. The girls were caught in NYC last week at a photoshoot, probably for their new fashion line The Row, sitting next to a window and gabbing away. Let's hope that their conversation involved talks of being more creative with their line, or at least lowering the prices a little!
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Apr 05 2007 in Manhattan, NY. As Mary Kate Olsen stepped out in the fashionable Meatpacking District of New York on April 5, rocking those tried and true mega-heels which made her diminutive legs look stilt-like in a pair of super skinny zipper jeans, with a button-down front jacket, big black shades, her Rolex and a fedora-style hat. Not sure if many of you know this, but MK had a cameo in Sienna Miller's film Factory Girl, in which she played a stylish party guest. Unfortunately for MK, her scene ended up being scrapped from the final version of the film. But some good did come from her cameo, Mary Kate has become fascinated with Andy Warhol paintings of the era. Sources say that she "was very disappointed to find she'd been cut from the movie, but she loves [Andy Warhol's] paintings now and has already bought several originals. She has been telling her friends, 'They cost way more than what I earned for the film!'" Let's be real, I'm sure she doesn't have to worry about what they cost!
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Mar 27 2007 in Los Angeles, Ca. Did blonde mega-twin Mary Kate Olsen step out in LA on March 27 for a professional meeting with her agent, or just to run more of her usual errands of getting Starbucks and shopping at Maxfield? I am leaning toward the former, due to her chic and classy outfit. But wait, can this really be you, MK? Where are the torn leggings, the over-the-top furs, the sky-high Christian Louboutins? It seems that MK has decided to ditch this look, for now, and opted for a dressier style du jour. Wearing wide-leg slacks (take a look at our pinstripe pants for a similar look) with a black belt, slouchy black bag and casual striped button-up, MK looked hot and polished. Speaking of looking amazing, this is what the Olsen's are hoping their demographic will feel in their new clothing line, The Row (take a look at what The Row has to offer here.) I'm sorry, but anyone who is willing to spend that much money on a basic tee is crazy!
Paging Dr. 90210! It has recently come to light that Ashley and MK both want Dr. Raj Kanodia (who gave much sought-after new sniffers to Ashlee Simpson, Cameron Diaz and Jennifer Aniston) perform twin surgeries on them as well. True fact, or plain old rumor? Apparently, a friend of Ashley's has said that "Ashley has always thought her nose was a little too big, so she wanted to get it done. When she talked to her sister about it, she loved the idea. They both love changing their looks." What are the girls talking about, their noses are perfect!
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Mar 19 2007 in Los Angeles, Ca. Seems as though Mary Kate Olsen has tired of her shockingly platinum hair, as she headed to Neil George and opted for a more subdued, honey shade of blonde. Making one last sighting before ditching the blindingly blonde shade (which I have actually grown to like), MK hit up the grocery store with twin sis Ash on March 19 to pick up some goodies. Ooh, what I would have given to see what's in their cart! Wearing black skinny jeans (maybe take some scissors to the bottom for MK's raggedy look?) with a blue tee, leather jacket and neon red pumps (love it), MK certainly put on quite the fashion show picking up some snacks! It's good to see that she went a little more natural, however, with her hairstyle (and hit up the tanning salon too, it seems), my only question is, with her rigorous dying schedule, how much more can her little locks take? I say she and Lindsay have a competition to see who can dye their hair more in the next 6 months!
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Mar 12 2007 in Beverly Hills, Ca. Ashley Olsen did some shopping in Beverly Hills on March 12, and stopped off at a flower store and picked up a huge bouquet of flowers. From there, she headed to a candy store and then to a liquor store to pick up some, ahem, treats. Wearing cuffed charcoal skinny jeans with a belt and gauzy white blouse, buttoned down low to reveal a lacy bra. How cute, Ashley is finally on her way to womanhood! While Ash was off running her errands, twin sis Mary Kate has been forever (or at least until someone eats it) eternalized on a cookie by animation student Michael Mouris, who turns photos of celebrities into cookies in his spare time. Talk about a whole lot of spare time! Mouris says that his cookie creations are not to be eaten, but are in fact works of art. "They actually last a long time. I have one I created five years ago and it's a bit faded, but otherwise it looks fine." I'd hate to see rats get into his cookie gallery, they'd have a field day with MK!
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Mar 11 2007 in Brentwood, Ca. Double trouble! Maybe the fact that she's a twin makes Ashley Olsen feel like she needs to get two of everything, including two large coffees when she paid a visit to a Starbucks on March 11. Looking much cuter than we've seen her in a while (I mean, there's so huge furs or scary sky-high shoes!), Ash stepped out in a pair of jean shorts with a black belt, black top, Ray Ban aviators and her favorite Prada turban. But what catches my eye is that blingin' watch of hers! Man, that thing is catching some serious rays. I like this look for her, it's basic, but she's still exhibiting some of that unique style of hers. Plus, those beat up Vans slip-ons make her actually look like a 20 year-old, and not a 50-year old!
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Mar 10 2007 in Los Angeles, Ca. After getting her hair did at the same salon Lindsay was just re-blonded at, Ashley Olsen strolled to her car that was waiting to whisk her away. Wearing a pretty familiar outfit by now, that consisted of a pair of black leggings, round shades and a holey burnout tee under a heather grey tee, what would her look be without a pair of crazy uncomfortable looking shoes and a big furry fur? A creature of habit that Ashley is. I don't really notice much difference in her hair however, maybe she just had a trim? Ashley definitely didn't have a blowout though, maybe she's a big fan of the air-dry? Who knows!
One thing that everyone already knows is that Ash and her twin sis Mary Kate have money in the bank, and now Forbes is telling us what we already know. The mag just named the ubertwins as the No. 1 Top Earning Stars Under 21 in Hollywood, which did not really come as quite a shock. Their production company, Dualstar, banked a cool $40 mill last year, which isn't too shabby. The girls better appreciate this ranking, because it is the last year they're eligible for the title.. they turn 21 on June 13. Where does the time go?
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Mar 03 2007 in Paris, France. While I have said a million times that what I love about Mary Kate and Ashley's style is that they do whatever they want and don't care what people say about them and that's what makes their style hot, I have also said that, at this point, they are borderline creeping me out. Making a ghoulish appearance last night at the Giambattista Valli party at Paris Fashion Week, the girls wore long black dresses and leather jackets, and carried their trademark bags: MK with that weird round beaded thing and Ash with her croc Fendi purse. Mary Kate also donned the Prada turban that Ashley has been wearing around all over the place lately. While, in a way, the all black look is working for the twins, it also kind of looks like they're going to a Halloween party and should be carrying orange plastic jack-o-lantern baskets to put their candy in. One thing is for sure, these girls know how to get people talking about their fashion risks!
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Feb 11 2007 in New York, NY. Spotted wandering the streets of New York on February 11, Mary Kate Olsen looks like a lost old lady who doesn't know which way is up. Teeter-tottering on those sky high shoes of hers, MK completes her "mature" look with a (surprise, surprise) huge fur, Chanel bag, leggings, a grey hat, and a long tank underneath it all. She looks so cold and alone, I hope she finds her way back to the rest home! MK was in New York for Valentine's Day, celebrating with her boo, oil heir Max Snow. On the big night, the two dined at Brooklyn's River Café, one of the five best restaurants in New York according to French restaurant guide Gault Millau. Twin sis Ashley must have taken forever getting ready for her big Valentine's plans, due to how she recently admitted that she is constantly washing her face because she is paranoid of germs. She says she "washes it, like, four times a day, which means I constantly have to redo my make-up. So it's a good job that I hardly wear any!" MK, on the other hand, just throws on a hat and tries to hide her face on a bad skin day. I'm sure Max thinks you're beautiful always, Mary Kate, even when you're dressed like a Park Avenue senior citizen!
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Feb 11 2007 in Mexico. I enjoy the simple pleasures in life.. a good glass of wine, cheesy 80's movies (hello Overboard and Troop Beverly Hills), and most especially when I see an Olsen smiling! It's a rare occurence, kind of like spotting Nessie in Loch Ness, but when I see them smile, it melts my little heart!
Ashley Olsen was spotted by the paps on vacay in Mexico on February 11, lounging in her cabana, drinking a clear drink (ice water.. or vodka rocks?) and still having cigs and Coronas near by, just for good measure. Wearing a teeny weenie light pinkish/purple bikini and a super sheer, stretched out v-neck tee, Ash seemed to be relaxed and totally happy. Not sure if she knew that she was being photographed, but either way, there's nothing that some south of the border sunbathing and a few cocktails can't fix. Speaking of that tee of hers however, might it be from her and twin MK's new couture line, The Row? Featuring items such as cashmere t-shirts, the first promotional photo for the duo's new line premiered recently. What do you think, would you drop $695 on one of The Row's long cashmere tees?
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Feb 08 2007 in New York, NY. Seems like New York Fashion Week isn't all the fun, glitz and glamour that it's cracked out to be, as superpower twins Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen appeared to be bored stiff backstage at the W Suite, which they had closed to the public so that they could have some privacy while they partied. But the girls just spent the night sitting around and "looking like the saddest people you have ever seen," said a source. Looking miserable, the twosome weren't having any drinks, or even talking (even to each other!) and sat in their chairs for at least 20 minutes, staring at the floor, said the source. Why so sad, Olsens? This is Fashion Week, go hit up some parties and cut loose!
Earlier in the week on February 8, Ashley went shopping wearing a trendy turban, which is on the cutting-edge-of-fashion these days, with black leggings, a black tee, and a button-down cardigan, leather jacket, Wayfarers and Havaianas. Shop those cares away, Ash!
UPDATE- It has come to my attention that Ash is mourning Anna Nicole's death, which makes sense. But I didn't even know the two were friends!
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Jan 29 2007 in Los Angeles, Ca. It's either one extreme or the other for the Olsens, as Ashley proves by wearing these super wide leg jeans with a (surprise, surprise) huge fur coat and a black scarf being worn as a head wrap. Usually clad in either skin tight skinnys or ultra wide leg jeans, Ashley is apparently going to have to ditch one of her favorite skinny jean designers, the Australian brand Tsubi, because she broke up with the brand's CEO, Greg Chait, in the past few weeks. Chait, 27, and Ash split after a year and a half together, allegedly due to how Chait had "commitment issues". Ashley wanted something more permanent, Greg wanted to keep having fun. Same story, time after time. Looks like there's only one thing to do… bring on the wide leg's!
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Jan 07 2007 in Brentwood, Ca. MK left an art class in Brentwood on January 7, lugging a giant canvas nearly as big as she is. I'm amazed she could lift it! Mary Kate has been attending art classes lately, getting' her Van Gogh on, wearing her typical uniform of leggings, a long shirt, and her scary Balenciaga witch boots, which are nearly 8 inches tall. Never one to blend into the fashion crowd, MK is taking her style to new heights in these bondage-esque boots that are not for the faint of heart. While often controversial, her fashion choices are definitely cutting edge, as she usually goes where most starlets are too scared to go. Style is a unique personal expression, and while MK expressed her inner 100 year-old self at the Golden Globes after parties. At least she stays true to her own style.
In black leggings with black cuffed shorts, a plaid flannel shirt, huge gold bracelet, and oversized shades, MK leaves all of her fashion choices open for criticism. Hey, at least she can pull these looks off! I mean hello, can you imagine superblah Katie Holmes wearing these Balenciaga monsters?
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Jan 03 2007 in Los Angeles, Ca. Mary Kate Olsen ran errands on January 3 in Los Angeles in her typical unique attire, possibly inspired by the wicked witch of the west? That hat and those scary Balenciaga shoes, pretty witchlike if I do say so! Always a fan of black, MK played it pretty simple, the rest of her outfit consisting of black leggings, rings, an oversized black hoody (style tip: try buying the sweatshirt in large for Mary Kate's look) with the staple Alexander McQueen skull scarf and that purse she's been lugging around everywhere lately that looks like a grandma sweater she shrunk in the wash and had to make into a bag.
Fans of MK have always tried to duplicate her one of a kind style, and have wondered who her style icons are. In a recent interview with Bliss Magazine, Mary Kate revealed that "pirate" Johnny Depp inspires her style, saying how she "weirdly looks to guys like Johnny Depp for style tips. He just knows how to put things together and I love that scruffy rock look." Goal definitely accomplished, MK.
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Dec 20 2006 in Los Angeles.
As mentioned in a recent blog, super tiny twin Mary Kate Olsen was noticeable absent from PETA's 2006 Worst Dressed List, despite the fact that she constantly wears over the top furs. However, her twin sis, Ashley, tied with Nicole Richie for first place on the animal activist's embarassing list. Maybe the newly dark haired twin has taken her top prize to heart, opting to go on an extravagant shopping spree at Barney's on December 20 not wearing any kind of fur. Ashley's look, however, starts with a vintage scarf, that she pairs with a striped button down, a black wrap jacket, black leggings and a black cap. To complete her maybe-but-probaby-not turnaround of not wearing fur, Ash should visit the zoo and pose for pictures hugging a bear! Hey, I'm just saying...
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Dec 17 2006 in Los Angeles, Ca. In the land of Hollywood where young starlets are increasingly dying their hair darker and darker shades, Mary Kate Olsen has dramatically done the complete opposite, and emerged on Decemeber 17 from an appointment with her hairdresser sporting some shockingly platinum tresses. Wearing charcoal jeans, leopard Christian Louboutin pumps, a long white scarf, gold jewelry and a huge fur coat, it comes as quite a shock that MK didn't top PETA's list for 2006! I don't really know how to wrap my mind around this new look of Mary Kate's, on one hand she looks like she's thinking "Yeah, I'm hot, rich and I know it", struttin' her chic self through the street, on obvious display for the paparazzi. On the other, she kind of looks like the wife of a Russian mobster, with her over-the-top gaudy accessories, throwing all taste to the wind. To complete this transformation, all she needs is a fatty Caddy with gold rims and she'll be all set. I can't wait to see how now dark haired twin, Ashley, will counter!
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Nov 27 2006 in New York, NY. Animal print is definitely all the rage this season, as Ashley Olsen elegantly proves as she leaves her New York apartment on November 27. Wearing a voluminous leopard print coat with a cotton woven shirt and a high waisted black skirt, Ash's new brunette locks are really starting to suit her. I think whenever a famous blonde goes dark there is an adjustment period to get used to it, and now Ashley is workin' her dark 'do! Pay close attention to the way this fashionable twin accessorizes; with red patent leather pumps, tons of bracelets and 80's inspired black shades, Ashley turns running the most mundane of errand into a chic fashion show.
Just days before, Ashley and twin Mary Kate were featured on the Today Show, giving their first live interview in around 2 years. They went into conversation about their fashion line aimed at "tweens", which can be found at WalMart. Puh-lease, you know neither one of them would be caught dead anywhere ending in "mart"!
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Nov 03 2006 in West Hollywood, Ca. Ashley Olsen made a stop at Moe's Flower Shop in West Hollywood on November 11, rockin' that new dark 'do of hers. While I'm still on the fence of whether I like this change or not, it will probably grow on me, but Ashley could basically put a paper bag over her head and still look hot. In a black blazer and medium wash Earnest Sewn zippered cigarette jeans, all eyes are on her shoes, which must jack her up like 5 inches! It just really boggles my mind that skinny jeans with zippered legs are back in fashion, everyone thought those baby's would die a permanent death in the 80's! Leave it to an Olsen to do the fashion unthinkable, and look great doing it!
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Oct 28 2006 in Santa Monica, Ca. She may be worth millions, but that's no reason Mary Kate Olsen can't get her shop on with an $18 tee at American Apparel! Stopping into the Santa Monica location, MK purchased some scarves, leggings (shocker) and some basic tees… I'm just hoping that they were in some outrageously bright colors! I mean, come on, raise your hand if you're tired of Mary Kate rocking the gothic look! Leaving the store, MK did her usual cat-and-mouse routine with the paparazzi, covering her face and trying to avoid being photographed. As she walked up to her Porsche Cayenne (the getaway vehicle), she realized she was locked out, so she decided to give it up and nicely smiled for the cameras. It's a good thing her assistant was close by with the keys, across the street at, where else, Starbucks. Go on with your bad self, MK!
If you do long to rock the going-to-a-funeral chic look, get some black leggings (and if you don't have them already, what's the hold up!), a deep v-neck black cashmere tunic and layer on pounds and pounds of necklaces, featuring scary things like skulls and shipwreck findings. Tres chic!
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Oct 20 2006 in Los Angeles, Ca. While many say that Mary Kate looks like a homeless bag lady, she's the chicest bag lady I've ever seen! While it's super well known that the other it girls, Linds and Nic and Misch, rely on vampiress Rachel Zoe to choose their fashions for them, MK goes it alone, and it shoes! And in a good way, I think! She's not afraid to be unique and not care how much people say she dresses terribly, she's perfection at matching break-the-bank couture items with ratty old vintage pieces (like this rad 80's "Frankie Says Relax", an ode to their famous song which dominated the plot of Zoolander). Rockin' out with her crazy rings and Blackberry, MK loves Joe's Jeans' Chelsea in Charcoal, which she expertly pairs with a black hoodie. For the ultimate in edgy sweatshirts, our Noble Decay hoodies are definitely Mary Kate approved!
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Oct 15 2006 in Paris, France. While still overseas in Paris, France creating quite the stir with multiple meet and greets and photocalls, Ashley Olsen stunned in a black wrap coat and intricately detailed tights on October 15. Memories of this golden Olsen being blonde are now only a reminder of a simpler time, as Ash recently decided to hop aboard the trend bus and dye her platinum tresses a perfect-for-fall darker hue. Cammie Diaz, Nicole Richie, now Ashley Olsen… is no bubbly blonde starlet safe from the nefarious temptations of switching over to the dark side? Seeing that Britney Spears started it all and has now recently decided to switch back to blonde, maybe the sun will shine again soon for many of these Hollywood it girls. Because, hate to say it, blonde suits ya much better, Ash!
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Oct 11 2006 in Paris, France. Ugh, will these scull scarves just leave me alone already! They're selling them at Forever 21 people, which means it's over! Lindsay still wearing it is one thing, but I expected more from you, MK. While the twins have been on a whirlwind tour of Paris, attending fashion shows and shopping to their teeny heart's content, Mary Kate took the time to enrich herself with the gourmet Parisian flavors of.. Starbucks?! Doesn't she get her fill when she frequents the Brentwood location like 17 times a day? You're in Paris!! Go sip a café au lait in a quaint French coffee house! Jeez, you'd think with all that culture around they'd drink it in.. literally!
For the kind of bizarre gothic queen look MK pulled out of her hat, start with a killer leather jacket, like our 3J Workshop Artemis Leather Jacket, layering it over a long tee, similar to our Nation Ltd Long Sleeve Inside Out Tee in Black. Final touch, a white bag, like our Dutchy Nana Doc Medium Bag, also available in teal. Just try not to scare any small children with the skulls!
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Oct 04 2006 in Paris, France. Boy, it must be hard to be an Olsen! Rich, powerful, gorgeous.. and yet for some reason they never smile! While I am always a fan of the sexy pout, or the bored look of indifference, both of which both Ashley and MK have mastered, it would be nice to see the twins bust out and laugh every once in a while! Right now the girls are overseas in Paris shopping their little hearts out, hitting up designer boutiques as well as their favorite vintage store, Scarlett. Fron row at the Dior show, private tour of the Musee d'Orsay.. sounds like a trip to die for!
As Ash struts her stuff out of their hotel, she rocks a snow white mink coat along with a crocodile bag.. she's undoubtedly on the top of PETA's love list! Pair all of these animal accessories with a pair of sleek black leggings, like our Saint Grace Alex Leggings in Black with a funky horn and stone necklace, like our Castaway Jewelry Natural Horn Pendant Necklace with Stones. Next stop.. somewhere else fabulous obviously!
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Sep 16 2006 in Soho, NY. It's just another day of shopping for Ashley Olsen as she exits a Soho boutique, looking chic and sophisticated in an all black ensemble. It seems that vests are back with a vengeance, as well as the skinny black pant. For the definitive skinny black crop, it is essential to buy the J Brand 10 Inch Ankle Jean in Black, and pair with a "the bigger the better" pair of black aviators, like our super hot right now Tom Ford Falconer Sunglasses with Semimatte Black Frames. But the real star of this outfit, wait scratch outfit, make that week? Ash's Hermes Birkin Bag! Man, this thing just won't stay out of the limelight lately! From Lindsay Lohan's stolen and found orange Birkin at Heathrow Airport, to Ashley's big momma black version, the Birkin Bag is having the best week ever!
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Sep 08 2006 in Los Angeles, Ca. At the a party for the launch of the new Balenciaga line, Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen were, as always, style originals. While I'm sure PETA will not be too happy with MK when they see the huge fur coat she is rocking, she did take a chance by combining a brown fur with a black dress, similar to our Eskell Bonfire Open Back Dress. With a plaid coat and a black scoop neck tee and detailed leggings, like our Saint Grace Alex Leggings in Black, Ashley opts for a more regal look. Either way, there is no denying that these twins will always be on the forefront of fashion for many years to come.
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Sep 05 2006 in Brentwood, Ca. One of my best friends has always told me how obsessed she is with the Olsen twins style. I am finally beginning to see what she means. They always look so chic and stylish without looking like they tried at all! Ashley Olsen is seen here on September 5th getting takeout from a restaurant in Brentwood. Dressed in a casual yet funky outfit consisting of black gladiator sandals, a black vest, a gray slouchy shirt, and denim cutoffs, like our Siwy Camilla Slouchy Cut Shorts in Wonder. Ash finishes off her look with huge aviators with gold accents, like our Tom Ford Falconer with Semimatte Black Frames. It's not easy being a style icon!
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Aug 16 2006 in Los Angeles, Ca. Even when walking across the street to run errands, Ashley Olsen is stylish perfection! In LA for the summer on her break from school, Ash has been keeping busy making appearances at the Teen Choice Awards and running her business, Dualstar, with sis Mary Kate. In a chic nautical-stripes/skinny-jeans duo, it's a good thing that the normally paparazzi-shy Ash isn't hiding behind one of her gargantuan bodyguards or with 20 shopping bags in her face. It would be a shame to hide when you look this good! To get Ashley's look, snag our Lily McNeal Striped Henley, like Ashley's, and pair with a slim fitting pair of black jeans, like our Stitch's Seminole Slim Fit in Black. Next, the accessories! Layer on tons of gold bracelets, like our Rebecca Norman Wavy Thin Bangles in Vermeil, and wear a massive pair of shades, like our Tom Ford Ryan Sunglasses with Shiny Black Frames, with gold accents to match your bracelets. Next thing you know, MK will be thinking you're her twin!
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Jul 11 2006 in Los Angeles, CA. Mary Kate is lookin' fierce as she hops in to her Porsche in a pair of buckled biker boots that would make any Harley-ridin' man drool. Never mind the fact that her legs are still the size of swizzle sticks, MK looks hot! Throw on our pair of Tag Button Front Short Shorts in Karin, like the one Mary Kate wears with an edgy yet chic leather jacket, like our 3J Workshop Artemis Leather Jacket to get MK's look. First hippie-chic, now biker-chic... wonder what "fill-in-the-blank"-chic MK's gonna pull out of her hat next!
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Jul 09 2006 in Los Angeles, Ca. Ok, Mary Kate, we get it. You're a free spirit now, woo. At a recent event, Mary Kate and Ashley could not have had a different style. While MK did the whole braid-across-the-forehead thing again with a toga-esque dress, Ashley's look was pulled together and sophisticated as always. To get the blonde Olsen's look, start with an uber-skinny pair of capris, just like our uber-popular J Brand 10 Inch Ankle Jean in Ink. Throw on a sheer white v-neck tank, like our Signorelli Basic Two Sided Tank in White underneath a soft leather jacket, similar to our Stitch's Comanch Leather Jacket in Black and you're red carpet ready, instantly. Finish off your look with an ultra long, waist length necklace, like our Arianne Jeanot Mixed Nugget 44" Strand Necklace, and Ash will definitely have some major style competition. Oh, and MK, Stevie Nicks called and wanted her look back.. from 20 years ago!
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Jul 02 2006 in Brentwood, Ca. I'm loving the long hair but she needs to downsize. Everything is too big on her: the glasses, the shoes, the bracelet. Mary-Kate is cute and should wear things that fit.
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Jul 01 2006 in Los Angeles, Ca. Mary Kate sure does clean up good! In a photoshoot for the July issue of Australian Harper’s Bazaar, MK rocks a pair of the super skinny, super hot J Brand 12 Inch Pencil Leg Jeans in Gray. With polished nails, chic shoes and a mod looking theme, this high fashion photo is a huge departure from Mary Kate's hippie look of late. Goodbye bedsheet as a dress and hello J Brand! Gray is the hot new wash of all jeans this season, and skinny is always in. Take a tip from MK, or her stylist at least, and pick up a pair of the new "it" denim.
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on May 23 2006 in New York, NY. Ashley Olsen is all covered up in a fedora hat, oversized sweater/blanket and black motorcycle boots as she leaves the Christian Louboutin store before going to the Free Arts NYC art and photographhy benefit auction.
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Jan 26 2006 in Los Angeles, Ca. Gossip surrounding Mary Kate's constant battle with her weight is spreading again lately, due to those photos from the Golden Globes after-parties in which the teeny tiny millionaire looked alarmingly thin in a low cut gown. MK firmly denies any rumors that she has relapsed into her old anorexic ways, and explains that this incredible-shrinking-woman optical illusion is just that, an illusion, caused by, of all things, her hair. Mary Kate's rep says that she hasn't lost any weight, continues to stay healthy, and that the "blonde hair she has now makes her look skinny." This hair-brained excuse is quite the doozy, and while I will admit that at the Golden Globes her blonde hair appeared to be white, making MK look like a senior citizen, I don't think that is what's making her seem thin.. it's her protruding ribcage!
On January 26, Mary Kate shocked all onlookers with her fashion choice, which she does on a regular basis, but this time it was even worse than usual! In black leggings, a black longsleeve, big black shades, a gold clutch and a fur vest that looks like she was attacked by the abominable snowman, MK definitely made that woman (or is it a man?) behind her do a triple take. Is she in LA or the arctic?
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Sep 29 2005 in New York, NY. Just when you think MK can't possibly layer any more, she finds a way to do it. She pairs her striped Ella Moss skirt with cowboy boots, leggings, long tees, a leather jacket, bracelets, earrings, and of course her trademark huge sunglasses. Who ever said less is more!
Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen seen on Jun 24 2003 in Los Angeles, California. Ashley & Mary-Kate Olsen at the premiere of Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle, in fun summer dresses. Three years ago, the girls were younger and did everything together, unlike now that they are developing more individual personas.
