Anne Hathaway

Anne Jacqueline Hathaway (born November 12, 1982) is an American actress. She made her acting debut in the 1999 television series Get Real, but her first prominent role was in Disney's family comedy The Princess Diaries (2001), which established her career. She continued to appear in family films over the next three years, and she had the lead roles in Ella Enchanted and The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement (both 2004). Hathaway wanted to break the "G-rated" image, and consequently, in 2005 she co-starred in the adult-themed Havoc and Brokeback Mountain, both requiring nude scenes. The Devil Wears Prada (2006), in which she starred opposite Meryl Streep, has become the highest-grossing film of her career. Becoming Jane, in which she stars as Jane Austen, was released in 2007. Her most recent movie, Get Smart, in which she plays the character, Agent 99, was released in June 2008. Her acting style has been compared to that of Judy Garland and Audrey Hepburn] and she cites Hepburn as her favorite actress and Streep as her idol. People magazine named her one of 2001's breakthrough stars[5] and in 2006 she was listed as one of the world's 50 Most Beautiful People.

ANNE HAS NYC PRIDE

Anne Hathaway seen on Oct 22 2009 in New York, NY. After taking some time off the red carpet, Anne Hathaway makes a gorgeous entrance at the Empire State Pride Agenda Fall Dinner on October 22 in New York City in the outfit on the left. I don't know about you but I'm just loving Anne's style lately! The strapless Marc Jacobs Resort 2010 dress is exquisite on her figure (try a strapless pick like Rachel Pally's Fortuna Dress in Black and add some rainbow colors with Ettika's Triple Stack Multi Color Satin Cord Bracelet in Multi) and her smooth, straight tresses are a beautiful compliment. She showed off the new hair last month in Beverly Hills and you can see she's still glowing even in NY's chilly temps! Anne wore black tights a-la-Jessica Alba with this look, but the dress is uber short so if would have been scandalous without them – plus they are slightly sheer which to me makes a world of a difference! She also added some flashy silver earrings (like Michele Michel's Onyx Earrings in Black) and a skinny black Roger Vivier clutch (check out Laura Matthews Designs' Patent and Lucite Clutch in Black), completing the look with bright pink nail polish to go with the neon rainbow sequins on the ruffled skirt. Love this very playful look but I can see some you not feelin' the tights or the youthful style, do you think this works for her? At the dinner, Anne and her family were honored with the Douglas W. Jones Leadership Award for their continued support of the gay community and work to defeat Prop 8 in California. Anne has spoken many times in public about her gay brother and even talked about how beautiful his wedding was while doing press interviews for Bride Wars, so it is a great honor for her to accept this! The next morning, Anne and her beau Adam Shulman ventured out hand-in-hand to do a little shopping at the Patricia Field boutique. So glad she didn't let the rain spoil her shopping trip or prevent her from wearing those fierce ankle boots! I love them with cuffed jeans (get the look with 7 For All Mankind's Roxanne in Super Vintage Nakita, cuffed at the ankle if you prefer) but it's definitely not a look I've seen and liked too often, does it work? Anne stayed dry in a black blazer with a hood (splurge on Mike & Chris' Rohan Leather Jacket in Black) and the same striped Madewell scarf with tassel fringe that Kristen Bell wore to the Madewell event in LA last week. I have to say I like it on KB better because I don't really like it with the red bag (go bold with a gorgeous red leather hobo like Donald J Pilner's Vintage Calf Tote in Red), but I like everything about the edgy look besides that… well, and maybe the clear rimmed sunnies. What do you think of Anne's day and night attire?

THE LADIES WHO LUNCH

Anne Hathaway seen on Sep 24 2009 in Beverly Hills, CA. Getting her daily dose of vitamin C, Anne Hathaway arrived at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Beverly Hills on September 24 for Variety's Power of Women Luncheon. Among the other notable ladies who lunch, Eva Longoria, AnnaLynne McCord, Christina Applegate and Sigourney Weaver are just a few who attended the 1st annual event honoring “an intimate group of Hollywood’s most philanthropically impactful women.” For the high class event, super-stylist Rachel Zoe picked a bold tangerine strapless Lela Rose Spring 2010 dress for Anne with an intricate fold at the waist (opt for Lotta Stensson's Shirred Mini Tube Dress in Orange, Rachel Pally's Braided Halter Dress in Saffron, or Voom by Joy Han's similarly pleated Eyelet Bubble Dress in Red). Loving the new straightened hair, and rosy cheeks and lips are the perfect complement to such a show-stopping hue. Anne completed the look with Roger Vivier open toe pumps, a simple black clutch (try Julie K's Sarah Clutch in Black Glaze) and oversized gold cocktail ring (like Allison Daniel's Lots of Dots Ring in Gold). Tres chic, no? While the buzz is already starting for Anne's new Tim Burton rendition of Alice in Wonderland, her rom-com Valentine's Day will actually come out in theaters first. In the trailer you can see Anne plays a more promiscuous character than her usual roles – can't wait to see it!

NO PANTS DANCE

Anne Hathaway seen on Aug 27 2009 in New York, NY. Still going strong with her man, Anne Hathaway was spotted strolling around SoHo in New York City on August 27 arm in arm with her beau Adam Schulman. From this photo it's clear Lady Gaga's no-pants revolution is spreading – what are your thoughts on Anne's leggy look? It appears she's wearing a drawstring tunic top or jumper with a wide braided belt and a traditional men's tailored white shirt she must have borrowed from Adam (make it work with James Perse's Woven Tank Dress in Black or PGD Style's Halter Top in Black with Motif 56's Elise Croc Belt in Black, topped with Joe's Jeans' Striped Pocket Shirt in Blue/White). The black and white bores me but I like that she's at least trying to be coordinated – not one of the fashion traits she's best at! In the summer heat Anne kept her accessories at a minimum, with a simple black watch, drop earrings (try Robyn Rhodes' Staci Earrings in Gold) and patent tipped white quilted ballet flats. What do you reader's think about this lukewarm summer 'fit? For all you Hathaway fans, the SNL veteran will once again host the infamous show on Sept 5, joining the Killers for what I can only imagine will be a hilarious episode. Wonder if she'll poke fun at her currently jailed ex, Raffaello Follieri? Guess we'll have to wait and see!

CHATTY VALENTINE'S DAY

Anne Hathaway seen on Aug 11 2009 in Los Angeles, CA. Looking less than enthused, Anne Hathaway chats on her cell in between takes of shooting Valentine's Day in Los Angeles on August 11. Anne got to ride a scooter for her role, which hasn't been disclosed yet. Sounds like V-Day the movie is ripe with talented ladies ranging from Julia Roberts and Jessica Alba to Taylor Swift and Emma Roberts, but the studio is keeping the plot under wraps other than dishing it involves several couples and their Valentine's day pursuits. Hmmm, reminds me of He's Just Not That Into You: packed with talent but no plot! The V-Day stylist dressed Anne in a full black belted skirt with a tucked in white blouse (similar to the shape of Susana Monaco's Pleated Tube Shirt Dress in Black) topped off with a tailored gray jacket (try Nanette Lepore’s Long Ago Jacket in Navy). I like the slouchy boots and black hobo (check out 7 For All Mankind's Alondra Satchel in Black), but I'm not loving the frumpy fringed scarf (instead try something more eyecatching like A Graves' Lock and Key Scarf in Blue) or the lackluster locks. Then again, maybe she has helmet head? The day before Anne turned into a biker babe, she was spotted filming some emotional scenes in Beverly Hills with Topher Grace, whom we can only imagine is her romantic counterpart in the flick. Besides shedding a few tears, they filmed a scene where Anne slaps Topher! Can't wait to see how the film turns out – then again, maybe I can? Do you readers think it'll be worth the wait?

SUMMER LOVIN'

Anne Hathaway seen on Jul 18 2009 in New York, NY. Trying out a new summer style, Anne Hathaway was spotted taking a lovey dovey stroll after lunch with beau Adam Shulman in NYC's East Village on July 18. The pale legs, the horizontal stripes, the hat – it hurts my eyes! What is it about this girl and letting herself go when she's settled down? Someone needs to tell her there are no gondolas in the East Village. And there are also plenty of eligible bachelors who don't wear ridiculously tight electric blue skinny jeans. I give Adam points for supporting Anne with his "Twelfth Night" tee from her recent Shakespeare in the Park run, but otherwise I'm not loving it! I usually have an affinity for nautical inspired 'fits but this just doesn't work for her. Her legs blend into the white stripes of the dress and the red highlights her pink undertones, yielding a particularly unflattering look (if you like it, try James Perse's Stripe Drop Dress in Charcoal or Ella Moss' Laurel Dress in Mediterranean). Love the straw hat, and the key necklace is okay (opt for Jessica Elliot's Large Sterling Antique Skeleton Key Necklace in Silver), but the ballet flats kill it. Different colored stripes and cuter sandals would definitely improve this look – how would you CoutureCandy readers style this for yourself? Now that Anne's "summer job" is finished, she has some time to relax before all the commotion starts for Alice in Wonderland, out March 5, 2010. The teaser trailer was released earlier this week and I can hardly contain my excitement! Tim Burton, Johnny Depp, Anne Hathaway and one of my fav all time fav Disney movies? It just doesn't get any better! Are any of you looking forward to the release?

OUT TO LUNCH

Anne Hathaway seen on Jul 14 2009 in New York, NY. Relaxing after spending part of her summer on stage in Central Park, Anne Hathaway ventured out for a leisurely lunch on July 14 in New York City. Meeting up with an older gentleman in Manhattan's East Village, Anne doesn't exactly look thrilled with her plans. Wonder who the meeting was with – looks like lawyer, accountant type? For her afternoon out, Anne started with a cozy striped tunic (Autumn Cashmere's Striped U Neck Sweater in Mouse Milk has a similar feel) black leggings and black tipped ballet flats, adding a pop of color with a brilliant blue bag (I love the shade of CC Skye's Blake Bag in Electric Blue). Adding some playful white earrings (Castaway's Rutilated Crystal Earrings have a unique look along the same lines) and a charm necklace (try the similar look of Maya Brenner's Santorini Coin Necklace in Vermeil), the look is just so-so compared to all the possibilities for summer. I would have worn light denim cut-offs and a pair of cute sandals to pull it all together, but there's nothing wrong with going the conservative route. Any objections to the 'fit? While fans only had a few weeks to catch her in "Shakespeare in the Park," Anne went out of her way to thank fans who waited in line overnight for first-come, first-serve tickets on the night of the final show (and yes, there were rumors of people being paid to wait in line). Anne arrived pizza-laden at 3am, distributing slices to all the hopefuls in line. What a sweetheart! Were any of you lucky enough to catch one her performances?

SHAKESPEARE IN LOVE

Anne Hathaway seen on Jul 03 2009 in New York, NY. Taking a charming NYC stroll with her man, Anne Hathaway was spotted shopping and lunching in the East Village with Adam Shulman on July 3. Anne appears to be completely enthralled with whatever her man is saying – so much so that maybe she forgot to look in the mirror before heading out for the day? To start, your beau's jeans should never be tighter than yours (it's hard to see the electric blue skinny leg, but enough said). The faded straight legs Anne chose pull at the crotch in an unflattering way – they just aren't doing anything for her figure (opt for Pierce Jeans' Pierson Slim Jean in Pacific). Next Anne put on a teal button up blouse with a ruffled yoke and old fashioned puff sleeves (if you like the button up style try 3J Workshop's Dixie Shirt in As Shown or Shumaq's Alex Center Button Blouse in White), adding clear jellies, an off-white tote (like Carla Mancini's Braided Handle Tote in Off White Crocodile), and a cute straw hat. From the waist up, it's not so bad, but the jeans and jellies aren't working for me. Do any of you agree? Looks like Anne is having a great summer, spending time with her beau in the Big Apple while taking a break from her Shakespeare in the Park performance schedule. Have any of you had a chance to see her on stage in Central Park? Her performance has gotten great reviews, like this from NY Daily News: "At ease on the stage and with iambic pentameter, the Oscar nominee for "Rachel Getting Married" brings sweet charm and deep poignancy in her acting and (too briefly) singing." I've heard tickets are hard to come by – you may have to wait in line for days, literally – but you can register for the "Virtual Line" and win free tickets on the Public Theatre website. Twelfth Night ends its park run on July 12, so don't delay!

SHAKESPEARE IN THE PARK

Anne Hathaway seen on Jun 25 2009 in New York, NY. Anne Hathaway radiates in gold at an afterparty for the official opening night of "Twelfth Night" on June 25 in New York's Central Park. Anne is going back to her roots with Shakespeare in the Park this summer, playing the cross-dressing part of Viola in the multi week production. She happens to share the same name as Shakespeare's wife, so it's only natural for her to shine in the park this summer! At the opening night afterparty, Anne arrived in a fluttery gold strapless mini dress by Marchesa (check out LaROK's Cup de Jour Dress in Nude or Sue Wong's Beaded Bodice Empire Dress in Beige, both equally divine options) paired with gold satin heels. I'm not sure about the glowing color, but I love the tiered dress and Anne's inner glow is unmistakable after her first official performance. She looks a little sweaty but she's working the press wall like a diva! Keeping her accessories simple, Anne chose a pretty green ring (Castaway's Chalcedony Ring in Brass is gorgeous) with matching teardrop earrings (Amy DiGregorio's Bellingham Earrings in 14K Gold Filled are perfect for the strapless dress) to complement the metallic sheen. What do you think of Anne's ensemble? While the unseasonable rain delayed a lot of performances, most of the critics had nothing bad to say about Anne's opening night debut. The New York Times raved about her: "…among the many pleasures of her performances is its effortless modesty. On screen or onstage Ms. Hathaway possesses the unmistakable glow of a natural star, but she dives smoothly and with obvious pleasure into the embrace of a cohesive ensemble cast." I'm blushing for her! Are any of you going to check out Anne on stage in Central Park this summer?

ANNE'S LATE NIGHT

Anne Hathaway seen on Jun 01 2009 in New York, NY. Looking radiant in a fiery red dress, Anne Hathaway enters NBC Studios in Rockefeller Plaza on June 1 in New York City. Warding off the paparazzi by wearing her sunglasses at night, Anne made a seductive stroll from her car to the studio for the taping of “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.” What a lady she is, pulling on the hem of her dress to avoid having an embarrassing panty fiasco a la LiLo or Britney circa 2006! For her TV appearance, Anne picked a curve hugging Herve Leger bondage dress (if you love the red hue, check out Black Halo’s Bustier Detail Pleated Mini Dress in Persimmon or Cleo Brand’s Off Shoulder Wrap Dress in Burgundy) paired with classy peeptoe Christian Louboutins and an elegant gold bauble ring on her right hand (try Erica Anenberg’s cool Double Finger Ring in Gold) and classy black chandelier earrings (I adore Kuoting’s elegant Black Spinal Marquis Earrings in Gold). What do you think of Anne’s racy look? If you’re interested in watching Anne play the guitar for Jimmy, scroll to the 17 min mark to watch Anne on Late Night chatting with Jimmy Fallon about her latest work, summer plans, and her very special birthday gift for her new boyfriend. It’s been about a year since Anne’s heart breaking split with her con-artist beau Raffaello Follieri, but it looks like Anne is getting over him just fine. She was spotted out in NYC on Friday holding hands while strolling with Adam Shulman, the actor she’s been smitten with for a few months. Besides hanging out with her new man, Anne has been living in NYC while prepping for her summer job: talking the stage as Viola in Twelfth Night during the “Shakespeare in the Park” summer series. Catch Anne on stage beginning June 10, with the official opening night coming June 25. Are any of you big Shakespeare fans like Anne?

PROENZA POWER?

Anne Hathaway seen on May 18 2009 in New York, NY. What’s green, scaly, and unattractive? You’d think only reptiles would fall into this category, but unfortunately Anne Hathaway landed herself there with this interesting pick right off the Proenza Schouler runway. Anne attended the 2009 Annual Village Voice OBIE Awards on May 18 in NYC, and I’m sure the village voices were whispering about her after she passed by in this awful ‘fit. Let’s start with the positive: the shoulder cut-outs are kind of cool, and I do like the murky teal shade with Anne’s pale complexion and reddish brown hair. The navy clasp clutch isn’t bad (try Carla Mancini's Front Lock Clutch in Cobalt this spring), and the rouge tinted lips and flushed cheeks are fresh-faced flattering. From there: the stark blacks tights and laced up Little House on the Prairie inspired boots are awful! The fit of the dress is not right either, maybe a higher or lower waistline would have given it a more tailored shape? Not loving it! Leighton Meester also tried to wear a skirt in the same fabric from the Proenza collection during Fashion Week in NYC back in Feb, and struck out with the same unflattering fit/length problems. The flat roots and center part also aren’t doing anything for Anne. Poor girl! Do you think the look is completely misguided or does it just need better styling? To recreate the look in a more flattering way, try a dress in a similar shade like Black Halo’s Racerback Dress with Pockets in Jade or Tricia Fix’s Kimono Dress in Teal. Whatever you do, leave the metallic python print for accessories! While Anne is still calming down from all the Oscar nomination euphoria, she recently dished about her role in Tim Burton’s upcoming Alice in Wonderland in a Q&A interview with FemaleFirst: “I have a small part in the movie; in fact, I only worked about nine days on it but it was a lovely, surreal dream come true… [The costumes] was one of the most amazing parts of the whole experience, getting to go into Tim’s craft shop and getting to meet all the craftsmen who have worked with him for years… I’m one of Tim Burton’s biggest fans and what I respond to visually is very Burtonesque so to all of a sudden be around these heroes of mine who have basically shaped my own personal aesthetic was pretty great.” Sounds like we have a lot to look forward to! Are any of you big Burton fans?

PLAYING DRESS UP

Anne Hathaway seen on May 04 2009 in New York, NY. Jumping at the chance to dress up, Anne Hathaway attended the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute Gala in New York City on May 4, dripping glamour from head-to-toe. Let me just start by saying I adore the MET Costume Gala. It's pretty much my favorite fashion event of the year. You might even call it a holiday. It's the only occasion celebs can dress as daring as they please and pretty much get away with it because, you know, it's a costume party, and everyone loves to dress up, right? Like Anne's ensemble here: the I-stuck-my-finger-in-an-electrical-outlet volume is soooo not a good everyday (or any day) look for her, but she's oozing decadence and drama with this look, and that's what the gala event is about. I adore her plum Marc Jacobs strapless mini, especially the pleated front cinched with a zipper (for a similar shiny look, check out Ingwa Melero's Halter Elena Mini Dress in Plum, Amber Lynn's Midnight Maiden Dress in Plum or Lotta Stensson's Satin Shirt Dress in Wine). It's a gorgeous dress, and designer Marc Jacobs was one of the evening's hosts so I'm sure she scored points (and some free duds) with her pick, but unfortunately, I don't think the color or length are good choices for her pale complexion. It's a little much, no? Tying the vampy look together with strappy pewter heels, gaudy emerald earrings and matching gem encrusted rings totaling 5.8 carats, Anne certainly went all out for this event. I personally love the dress, so I know my interpretation of this look is overly optimistic, and I invite you all to have at her - what would you do differently to make this look work? One thing she did right: love the dramatic eye makeup. The lipstick and blush are great shades - not too attention grabbing - and if there was just a little more thought put into that scary teased 'do I think this 'fit would be better overall. What do you readers think?

READY FOR SUNSHINE

Anne Hathaway seen on Apr 25 2009 in New York, NY. Clearly enjoying the warmer temps in NYC , Anne Hathaway jumped at the chance to take a stroll with her beau through downtown Manhattan on April 25. The cute couple took Anne's chocolate lab for a walk and grabbed lattes on the way, holding hands while enjoying the sunny day. I'm loving the uber short denim mini (try Aristocrat's Valentina Dress in Cymberlime) and t-strap Mary Janes, but who told her it was okay to tie short scarves backward? She did the same thing at the Phoenix airport in Feb - and it looked funny then too! The strip of color cuts off her neck and distracts from the 'fit - if she was wearing it forward it would add to the neckline instead of subtracting from it, don't you think? In addition to the scarf (add a little pop of color to your 'fit with options like A Grave's Lock and Key Scarf in Blue), Anne accessorized her 'fit with a tan leather tote (check out Carla Mancini's sassy Braided Handle with Front Tab in Tan Crocodile) and red aviators. What do you think of her summery look, can she pull it off? After all the trouble Anne went through last year with men, it's good to see her happily smitten one again, not to mention that Adam Shulman is totally hot! The cuddly couple were spotted hanging out at the Coachella music fest last weekend, checking out acts including Paul McCartney and the Killers - and maybe doing a little kiss and make up? They don't exactly look happy in the moment, but the pair have been an item for almost six months now, which is equivalent to a few years in Hollywood time. How much longer do you think they'll last?

ANNE ON STAGE

Anne Hathaway seen on Apr 15 2009 in Los Angeles, CA. Switching it up from her usual NYC routine, Anne Hathaway arrived at Los Angeles International Airport on April 15 looking happy to take in a little sunshine. Nothing wrong with playing it casual for long cross-country flights, and Anne did just that in dark bootcuts (try Tag Jean's super comfy Bootcut Jean in Dark Stone) and classic All-Star sneaks. From there Anne layered up in a light blue tee (check out Signorelli's Conservation Fund Charity Tee) with a patterned scarf and some kind of crinkly overcoat. What exactly would you call that thing? It reminds me more of a trash bag than acceptable attire! I like the big button on the side but the loose shape and puffy sleeves don't work... maybe it would be better with a dress? Anne toted a shiny python embossed bag (love Carla Mancini's Python Wavy Braided Handle Bag in Purple for summer) and a black carry-on, shielding her eyes from the camera flashes with uber dark sunnies. Gotta love the constant paparazzi presence in LA! While she's enjoying some time on the west coast, Anne will be participating in NYC's "Shakespeare in the Park" production this summer. Maybe it was her impromptu Academy Awards duet with Hugh Jackman that got her a nod for the project? Anne will be joining an all star cast including Audra McDonald from Private Practice and William H. Macy, and will play Viola in the month long production of "Twelfth Night." If any of you are NYC dwellers, be sure to check Anne out from June 10 to July 12 at the Delacorte Theater in Central Park. It's her first stab at Shakespeare, but I'm sure she can pull it off! Do any of you disagree?

WALK OF STYLE

Anne Hathaway seen on Apr 02 2009 in Beverly Hills, CA. Happily stepping out again for her favorite designer, Anne Hathaway arrived impeccably dressed at the Rodeo Drive Walk of Style Induction Ceremony in Beverly Hills on April 2. The event celebrates the Los Angeles premiere of Valentino: The Last Emperor, the new documentary that will be playing at the Sunset 5 theater in LA beginning April 3. Cozying up with Valentino on the red carpet, Anne arrived in an overcoat in the same fiery red shade that made the designer famous (check out Moschino’s Cheap & Chic Red Knit Jacket). Love the bold look for spring! Anne wore a belted wrapdress with a plunging neckline (try the similar style of Suzabelle’s Laurentides Dress in Crème) and vivid pink floral print – what do you think of the style? Anne accessorized with a large green ring (try Castaway’s Chalcedony Ring in Brass), nude peeptoes and dangly silver earrings (check out Michele Michel’s adorable Droplets Earrings in Silver). Tres chic, no? After all of her success with Rachel Getting Married, Anne has moved onto another project that is sure to get people talking. Anne will star in a biopic titled Get Happy: The Life of Judy Garland, produced by Hollywood bigwig Harvey Weinstein. He shared his joys over Anne joining the cast with the press: “We are thrilled to have the brilliantly talented Anne Hathaway portray stage and screen legend Judy Garland. I have worked with Anne on projects in the past and have known her for many years. She will be a true class act in this challenging role.” I can't help but agree! Are any of you Judy Garland fans?

HANGING OUT WITH VALENTINO

Anne Hathaway seen on Mar 17 2009 in New York, NY. Putting her best dressed foot forward, Anne Hathaway looked stunning in head to toe white at the premiere of Valentino: The Last Emperor in NYC on March 17. Anne is a huge Valentino fan, wearing his elegantly sculpted looks on countless red carpets in the past, so it’s no surprise she made sure to look spectacular while clasping hands with the infamous designer at the event. Anne arrived in a gorgeous one shoulder white wrap dress (try Cleo Brand’s Off Shoulder Wrap Dress in Burgundy or the One Shoulder Dress in Purple if you like the wrap style) and a chic white coat (similar to LaROK’s Marlena Coat in Cream), polishing her look with a dainty diamond bracelet and glamorous pendant earrings (try Calico Juno’s dazzling Princess 55 Earrings in Sterling with any color frock). I adore her gem encrusted satin heels and vintage clutch with turquoise accents – perfect accompaniments to such a simple yet stunning dress. How do you feel about Anne’s choice of attire? At the premiere, the Oscar nominated actress shared a table with the man of the night, along with Gwyneth Paltrow, Madonna and Claire Danes. I don’t know who should feel luckier to be surrounded by so much talent, Anne or Valentino! The film will be out in theaters March 18, and according to the New York Times, the flick is “A must-see for fashion lovers and pop-culture fanatics.” Check out the trailer on the film’s website and see what you think of the documentary style flick dramatizing the fate of the iconic brand. Personally, I’m so intrigued – especially when Valentino smacked down the camera – that I will definitely be making a trip to the movies this weekend to get a look at the behind the scenes drama!

ARIZONA ATTITUDE

Anne Hathaway seen on Feb 24 2009 in Phoenix, AZ. After all the Oscars hoopla, Anne Hathaway spent some time unwinding in Phoenix, AZ before departing from the Phoenix Sky Harbor Intl Airport on February 24. Not sure what drew her to the desert, but you can bet she enjoyed the bountiful winter sunshine! For her flight, Anne donned a casual striped henley (like Autumn Cashmere’s Striped Cable Henley in Charcoal) with dark indigo skinnies (check out Pierce Jeans’ Norway Olivia Slim Fit Jean in Nordic Blue) and t-strap sandals. Love the shape of her sunnies and the cool beaded bracelet (try Brian Nagourney’s Forget Me Knot Bracelet in Black), but what’s up with the red bandana scarf? If it was tied facing forward I don’t think it would be as weird, but tied behind her neck it looks like it’s choking her. Carrying a casual zipped up jacket (check out the similar style of Amberlynn’s Zipper Bomber Jacket in Black) and a striped straw beach tote, Anne looked happy to be heading home as she sipped her coffee and chatted in line with other passengers. What do you think of her high flying ‘fit? It seems like Anne is always throwing out her opinions about fellow celebs, and she recently shared her thoughts on fellow Oscar nominee Angelina Jolie: “I love Angelina, I think she is beautiful - but it is not my aim to be just like her. I admire what she does greatly. She uses her fame in a good way - and that is what I hope to do too: to make a difference.” It seems like Anne has a long way to go to follow in Angie’s footsteps to save the world, one child at a time, but Anne did go on to share some interesting insights on the price of fame: “Aside from getting a nice table at a nice restaurant and occasionally getting free clothes, fame can begin to seem very empty. And if you do not take certain steps to use it for something good it can really consume you and make you completely self-obsessed.” Wonder if Anne is alluding to certain self-obsessed celebs, or maybe a former lover, like that money-guzzling con-artist ex-beau of hers? Whatever she meant, Anne has some wise words – no one likes the self-obsessed!

SINGING SENSATION

Anne Hathaway seen on Feb 22 2009 in Los Angeles, CA. Making a shimmering entrance at the 81st Annual Academy Awards, Anne Hathaway looked radiant in a decadent strapless creation by Armani Prive. Strutting the red carpet at the Kodak Theater in Los Angeles on February 22, Anne sparkled in this silvery metallic hued gown. Love the jeweled clasp at the back and the hourglass shape – very classy! To nab Anne’s shiny look, try CoutureCandy’s delectable selections like Gold Hawk’s toned down Sequin Dress in Desert Brown or Tricia Fix’s Lina Cocktail Dress in Snake. Anne arrived at the event decked out in diamonds, sweeping her hair into a classic updo to reveal elegant diamond studs paired with two glittering rings and a sparkly bracelet (check out Rachel Leigh’s much more affordable Estelle Stud Earrings in Silver with CC Skye’s Pave Stud Bracelet in Silver). She also wore Casadei 1616 heels with her gown and carried a slender silver clutch (check out the very similar shape of Antoinette Lee’s Lua Snake Clutch in Bronze, which comes with a detachable chain cuff – perfect for going out!). Many were surprised by Anne’s gritty performance and well-deserved nomination for Rachel Getting Married, but I was actually more surprised by her Oscar duet with Hugh Jackman – who knew the girl could belt out an “impromptu” performance like that? While Anne did not take home a little gold man for her work, the Oscar nod turned heads and has done wonders for her career. I think she’s finally out of the shadow of her awkwardly funny Princess Diaries and Devil Wears Prada characters of the past. What did you think?

OSCAR HOPEFUL

Anne Hathaway seen on Jan 25 2009 in Los Angeles, CA. Channeling old Hollywood glamour at the Shrine Auditorium, Anne Hathaway dazzled on the red carpet of the Screen Actors Guild Awards in Los Angeles on January 25. I love the stunning simplicity of this white column gown by Azzaro (check out Gold Hawk’s Mini Sequin Dress in White or Cake Couture’s casual Gardenia Racer Back Dress in Ivory with a belt) – what are your thoughts on the goddess like style? Anne let her espresso tresses fall a little messy - do you think it’s a good look for her? Adding a studded cuff bracelet (like CC Skye’s Pave Stud Bracelet in Silver) and a couple of ornate rings (try Femme Metale’s original Noble Fleur with Snow Quartz Ring in Silver or Rachel Leigh’s Nicoli Ring in Gold), Anne wore Christian Louboutin heels and was all smiles on the red carpet. Reasonably so – Anne added to her growing list of nominations for Rachel Getting Married with a nod for a SAG Award. Though Anne lost to Meryl Streep for Doubt, she still has the Oscars to look forward to. After being nominated for “Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role,” Anne celebrated with a night out to dinner in NYC’s East Village before heading to the West coast. When the Academy Awards air on Feb 22, Anne will face some stiff competition against Angelina Jolie, Melissa Leo, Meryl Streep and Kate Winslet. Who do you predict will win?

BERLIN BRIDES

Anne Hathaway seen on Jan 16 2009 in Berlin, Germany. Not letting jet-lag hold them down, Anne Hathaway and Kate Hudson were in good spirits at a photocall for Bride Wars in Berlin, Germany on January 16. With Anne flying from LA to NYC to Berlin in a 5 day span, I can't imagine how out-of-it she must feel! Both stars dressed in very fashion-forward ‘fits, starting with Anne in a chic black wrap top and charcoal skinnies (try Denim of Virtue’s Patience 5 Pocket Tapered Jean in Dark Grey), letting her sexy black patent booties shine. Adding a few colored bangles, a shiny silver pendant necklace and small silver dangling earrings (like Michele Michel’s Seed Earrings in Silver), I like the simple touches to Anne’s everyday look. Kate put her ‘fit together with a high waist black leather skirt by Temperly London and a tucked in black blouse with a ruffled neckline (get the look with Tricia Fix’s Kara Skirt in Black or Black Halo’s High Waist Pencil Skirt in Bronze with Gold Hawk’s Short Ruffle Tunic in Raven Black). Keeping it simple with black patent peep-toes, classic gold hoop earrings and a dainty gold necklace, Kate added a chunky amber ring (check out Femme Metale’s Carnelian Caged Gem Ring in Red) and sophisticated rouge lipstick. Overall I love that their looks complement each other without competing, and I’m sure that’s what their stylists had in mind! The dynamic duo have had several joint interviews to promote their new flick, and Anne gave Modern Bride some advice for brides-to-be: “I gave up my struggle with perfection a long time ago. The day is about a lot more. But if your lifestyle is not as healthy as it should be, and it’s motivation to try something new, maybe that’s for the best. I know Kate would advise everyone to take a pole-dancing class!” Oh no, now even Kate Hudson is promoting the cardio striptease craze? If any of you have wed, what did you do to prepare for the big day?

FUN WITH FEATHERS

Anne Hathaway seen on Jan 14 2009 in New York, NY. Stepping out for the 2008 National Board of Review gala in New York, Anne Hathaway made a spectacular appearance at the awards ceremony held at Cipriani 42nd Street on January 14. Though the Golden Globes were held in LA just three days prior, Anne looks radiant despite the cross-country travel and her loss at the Globes after her rumored win for Best Drama Actress went to Kate Winslet. Can’t win ‘em all, right? Arriving in a fabulous Chanel Haute Couture frock, I absolutely adore the feather fringe details along the neckline and tiered hem, although I’m sure there are some who think Anne looks like a black and white Big Bird (if you love the vintage look, try CoutureCandy’s options like Prairie NY’s Shirt Dress in Gold Branches or Miguelina’s demure Lucinda Dress in Black). How do you feel about this glamorous design? To me it embodies the elegance and sophistication that defines Chanel, and it’s refreshing to see Anne wear it so well. The only thing I’d say is missing would be red lipstick to match her manicure and play up the vintage 20’s vibe – do you agree? To complement her dress, Anne chose a simple pair of black Chanel pointy-toed pumps and classic diamond studs by Bulgari (get a similar look for much less with Rachel Leigh’s Estelle Stud Earrings in Silver), wearing a sleek black band ring on her left hand (or try Michele Michel’s Adjustable Rose Ring in Silver to add old fashioned elegance to any ‘fit). What do you think of Anne’s look – yay or nay? Enjoying the NBR ceremony to honor many deserving entertainers for their work last year, Anne was delighted – and flabbergasted – to pick up yet another award for her work in Rachel Getting Married, this time receiving the title of “Best Actress.” Like many of us, Anne has a few New Year’s resolutions to follow through on, and she recently told People about some of her accomplishments: “My New Year’s resolution was to do something new every day. Eleven days into it, I tried Scotch for the first time, I won a Critics’ Choice Award and on [The Jimmy Kimmel Show] I put out a birthday cake with a fire extinguisher!” Anne can now add the NBR award to this list as well! Three weeks into the New Year, how are you readers doing with your resolutions – are you following through or flaking? Be honest!

TIE FOR BEST ACTRESS

Anne Hathaway seen on Jan 08 2009 in Santa Monica, CA. Looking very chic in an avant-garde black and white Gianfrano Ferre dress, Anne Hathaway caught everyone’s eye on the red carpet of the Critic’s Choice Awards in Santa Monica on January 8. First and foremost: do you approve of the dress? The Rachel Getting Married star told USA Today: “As long as a designer makes pretty dresses, I should still be in business. And I love this one so much because it’s like two dresses in one.” I also like the duo effect and the metallic belt, but do you think it’s too much? Create the contrasting look for yourself with Tricia Fix’s Siva Cocktail Dress in White and feel free to embellish with a multitoned belt like Anne’s. Complementing the dress with peep-toe Brian Atwood heels and a dazzling pair of circle Cartier earrings and coordinating diamond ring (check out Michele Michel’s wallet friendly Hammered Butter Earrings in Silver and add Femme Metale’s Gemstone Ring in Sterling Silver if you’re feeling flashy), Anne stood out amongst the competition with her sparkling smile. Surprisingly, Anne was also at the center of the competition for Best Actress – she and her Devil Wears Prada co-star Meryl Streep tied for their respective roles in Rachel Getting Married and Doubt. In her acceptance speech, Anne took a jab at her bad boy ex: “I want to thank my dad, who protects me and has shown me that there are good men in this world, and lets me know everyday that I am worthy of the love of good people.” Earlier in the week, Anne wore an elegant strapless Balmain dress to the 20th Anniversary of the Palm Springs International Film Festival Awards Gala, where she was awarded the Desert Palm Achievement Award for her portrayal of Kym in Rachel Getting Married at the event on January 6. Rumor has it, Anne was also set to be awarded at the Golden Globes. The official website for the awards show accidentally published the list of nominees for best actress in a drama with a star next to Anne’s name indicating she’d won, but Kate Winslet nabbed the award instead for her work in Revolutionary Road. Who do you think was the most deserving among the nominees for Best Actress: Anne, Angelina, Meryl Streep, Kristen Scott Thomas or Kate Winslet?

ALL WORK, NO PLAY

Anne Hathaway seen on Jan 05 2009 in New York, NY. As far as New Year’s resolutions go, I hope Anne Hathway gave herself a mandate to take some time off work after all of her recent promotion activities for Bride Wars. Starting the week off bright and early on January 5 with an appearance on CBS’s “The Early Show,” Anne headed over to “Live with Regis and Kelly” before meeting up with co-star Kate Hudson for a promo shoot at an NYC office building later in the day. For her morning look, Anne paired a conservative polka dot dress with opaque black tights and classy black patent heels, bundling up in a chic belted coat (check out Suzabelle’s sassy Umbria Trench Coat in Slate and Grey). I’m loving her mod black and white tote (if you like the color combo, try EDE Studio’s Hudson Clutch in White), especially with the gold accents on the handle – what do you think, love it or lose it? In the afternoon, Anne switched to a pair of classic dark skinnies (like Joe’s Jeans’ Chelsea Jean in Vincent) and cranberry red pumps, adding a square turquoise ring (just like Rachel Leigh’s Enamel Ring in Blue) and sticking with her slightly cat-eye shaped sunnies. What do you think of Anne's sleek espresso locks – are the razor sharp layers flattering or a little drab against her fair skin? So far, it seems like all of Anne’s hard work has paid off: Bride Wars came in second to Gran Torino in its opening weekend, tying with The Unborn with each new flick earning $21 million in the bo. The reviews are pretty smelly on Rotten Tomatoes, garnering a measly 12% rating, but I still think the bridal comedy has a shot at success. Did any of you venture out to the theater this weekend to see Anne and Kate duke it out?

FEEDING THE HUNGRY

Anne Hathaway seen on Dec 15 2008 in Harlem, NY. Stepping out for a good cause this holiday season, Anne Hathaway paid a special visit to the St. Aloysius School in Harlem, NY on December 15 to share some grub and good times with the students. Looking very perky in a crimson red top (like Tricia Fix’s Betsey Top in Infred), camel double breasted overcoat, and dark indigo skinnies (try the ProportionofBlu’s Cinque Buttercup Fit Jean in Indigo), Anne was all smiles as she stepped out of the school in her simple ballet flats and oversized sunnies. Adding tiny red lightning bolt earrings (try Maya Brenner’s festive Garnet Disc Briolette Earrings in 14K Gold) and a long strap tote in a cinnamon hue (the same shade as EDE Studio’s Small Knitting Bag in Brown), I have to say Anne looks quite polished for her venture into New York’s not-so-savory parts. Anne’s appearance featured the kick off of the special holiday collaboration between Netflix and the charity organization Feeding America, now in their second year working together for a good cause. Anne had the privilege of unveiling a collection of holiday print designs created for the charity by a handful of celebrities including herself, Scarlett Johansson and Jessica Alba. The holiday themed artwork will decorate gift subscriptions purchased from now until Dec 29, and 100 limited edition gift boxes are available on the site for $5,000 a pop. 100% of the proceeds for each box will be donated to Feeding America, generating enough funds to provide 80,000 meals in the upcoming year. That’s a lot of food for one generous gift! If you can spare the cash, make your way to netflix.com now and become one of the lucky few to benefit the charity, receive a lifetime rental membership to the website, and sleep comfortably at night knowing you’re making a difference in countless children’s lives. What more could you want this holiday?

DEEP, PROFOUND, AND WONDERFUL

Anne Hathaway seen on Dec 11 2008 in New York, NY. She’s had a lot to smile about as of late, but Anne Hathaway was as icy as the weather when she arrived at JFK Intl Airport on Dec 11. Looking very comfy yet polished for her flight, Anne started with her dark jeans (check out Desert Blue’s Fire Element Jean in Cormick Dark Indigo) tucked into distressed boots, a simple white tee under a brown plaid shawl, and a chocolate brown blazer (3J Workshop’s Moonshadow Leather Blazer in Brown would be perfect with the boots) pulling it together. Anne made her way through the terminal hauling her carry-on bag with a tan overcoat slung over her arm, completing her look with a pair of stealthy sunnies, an envious caramel colored tote with chain straps (try the alternate shape of Rough Roses’ Roxy Tote in Grey), and a pair of unique white pendant earrings (try Christie Martin’s White Coral Earrings in Gold or try the similar shape of Castaway’s Horn Pendant Necklace in Silver). It’s not an incredibly exciting ‘fit but it’s perfect to catch a flight in, wouldn’t you agree? I’m surprised to see Anne isn’t flashing her trademark toothy smile, because the past week has been quite a joyful one for her. Anne was nominated for a Golden Globe for her work in Rachel Getting Married on Thursday - Don’t get too comfortable, Angelina Jolie! We’ll have to wait until January to find out which one of the lovely ladies will be honored with the award, and until then you can look forward to Anne’s next release, Bride Wars with Kate Hudson. After all the whirlwind events that have taken place in her life this year, Anne told the press: “This is the year that I realized how profoundly I am loved and supported. And [I] realized that in order for a human being to be a successful human being, they must have deep profound wonderful committed relationships in their lives with their friends, with their family, with a lot of different people.” Sounds like a very mature realization! Just stay away from con-men now…

WHOLE FOODS HOTTIE

Anne Hathaway seen on Oct 24 2008 in Hollywood, CA. Staying true to her new vegan diet, Anne Hathaway spent quite a bit of time in the produce section of her local Whole Foods in Hollywood on Oct 24 – so much time that she caught an impromptu shower when the timed sprinklers came on to douse the veggies! Anne laughed it off and looked super slender in her casual black mini (kick it up a notch with Zoa’s versatile Short Sleeve Day and Night Jacket Dress in Black) with a long key pendant necklace (try Jessica Elliot’s Large Vermeil Antique Key Necklace in Vermeil) and funky gold printed ballet flats. Anne tossed her tan tote in the cart (if you like the style, try Linea Pelle’s Samantha Large Double Handle Bag in Dijon) while she browsed the health food mecca and kept her oversized sunnies (check out JeeVice’s diva-worthy Egoist in Black) anchored firmly to her face as she shopped – I wonder, isn’t it kind of hard to spot the best fruits and veggies when they all have a darkened tint? Now that the worst is behind her with that whole con-man-ex-beau fiasco, Anne can sleep comfortably at night knowing her ex will be safe behind bars for the next four years, a mediocre punishment for his misdeeds ranging from fraud and money laundering to outright conspiracy – not to mention forging a fake relationship with the Vatican! Anne can also find comfort that her latest sci-fi flick, Passengers, hit theaters on Friday. If you’re surprised you haven’t seen any previews, you’re not living under a rock – Sony scaled back the promotions on this film, and it’s playing on less than 200 screens across the country. I have to wonder, with a starring actress like Anne and all the hype after her Rachel Getting Married performance, why would the entertainment giant keep this one so hush-hush – any thoughts?

ANNE JOINS ALICE

Anne Hathaway seen on Oct 06 2008 in Beverly Hills, CA. Disney’s favorite star Anne Hathaway was certainly looking the part of her next role in Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland as she attended an event in Beverly Hills on Oct 6. I can’t decide if I love or hate the metallic stripes on her matching top and skirt (for similar tailored options, see Parameter’s Mini Dress in Navy in the same color scheme or Shumaq’s Sophia Dress in Navy), but I definitely am not a fan of that sash or the platform spike heels. Guess Anne isn’t trying to please the Miranda Priestly’s of the world anymore! I have to hope she’s getting into character as the White Queen to stand alongside Johnny Depp and Mia Wasikowska in what is sure the be the next Disney hit. Until filming gets started, Anne glammed up for Elle Magazine’s tribute to “Women in Hollywood” at the Four Seasons in BH, standing tall with her hair naturally curled and wearing minimal jewelry other than a silver ring on her right hand (similar to Femme Metale’s Rectangle Ring in Silver) – trying to empower herself with the whole right-hand-ring movement, maybe? I for one am quite impressed by how quickly Anne recovered from her split with her con-man ex just a couple of months ago. For a brokenhearted girl she definitely puts on a pretty face!

VAGUELY VEGAN?

Anne Hathaway seen on Sep 30 2008 in New York. NY. Gearing up to host SNL this week, Anne Hathaway prepped herself for live tv with her appearance on “The Late Show with David Letterman” in NYC on Sept 30. Looking absolutely radiant, Anne bravely battled a slew of questions about her scummy ex, even joking about how she “crashed and burned” earlier this summer after his arrest. She attributed her quick recovery to giving up cigs, booze and meat – calling herself “vaguely vegan” – which I suppose will give anyone’s skin a healthy glow! For her talk show gig, Anne wore a stunning navy dress (check out Gold Hawk’s Silk Satin Dress in Bijou Blue), with sheer black tights, sexy black pumps, and flashy teardrop earrings (like Kimberly Faith’s Triple Loop Earrings in Gold and Silver) complementing her sleek straightened locks. Before the show, Anne arrived outside the theater in chic black sunnies (like Nour’s Baba in Oro Bianco), flashing a dome bauble ring (similar to Michele Michel’s Adjustable Hammered Dome Ring in Silver) while carrying an irresistible woven black tote (check out Rough Roses' Soho Satchel in Black), pausing to sign a few autographs before continuing on her way in. Such a classy gal! To keep her from dwelling on the past, Anne says she’s been working hard promoting her career, and dabbling in politics on the side. A few weeks ago Anne took the time to gush to the press about her support for Obama, "He inspires us to be the best Americans we can be. And I think if he's president - when he's president, I should say - we're going to find people changing on the inside. And once we all have hope for the future, I think you're going to find everyone's going to wake up and take control of this amazing moment where there's so many things that need help, and people will all be inspired to help." I’m feeling inspired just from that little speech! Have you thought about running for office, Ms. Hathaway?

GETTING MARRIED IS NOT FOR EVERYONE

Anne Hathaway seen on Sep 15 2008 in Hollywood, CA. Looking like her usual girly self, Anne Hathaway channeled 50’s glam and let her dress do the talking as she sauntered down the red carpet at the Hollywood premiere of Rachel Getting Married on Sept 15. The movie won’t be in theaters until Oct 3, but after its success at the Venice International Film Festival everyone is buzzing about Anne’s surprisingly gritty performance as a recovering drug addict. Anne took a chance with the role and it paid off for her, as she told the press, “I’m lucky to be a part of movies that seem to be impacting people and causing them to re-evaluate their lives or even how they think about things.” For the premiere, Anne rocked a flirty black and white frock with a tight strapless bodice and intricate, lacy detail on the body (for similar picks, try Zoa’s Leopard Bubble Dress in Leopard or LaROK’s Shabbona Zip Dress in Jet), jazzed up with sparkly pointy-toed heels and only classic red lipstick and diamond studs as her accessories (try Rachel Leigh’s Circle Stud Earrings in Crystal as a fun alternative to the real thing). Despite the subject of her latest film, Anne won’t be getting married anytime soon, as she is still taking time to heal after her break-up with Italian con-man Raffaello Follieri. Everyone is still trying to piece together what exactly happened, but Vanity Fair recently reported that Anne paid her bad beau’s rent for four months before his arrest, totaling almost $150k. You have to wonder what kind of excuse he must have given her to explain why he needed that much cash! The mag is also reporting that the night she broke up with him, Anne told her lover, “You were the love of my life… I’ll always love you. You know that, baby.” Anne then left the country and the feds stepped in to snatch her man shortly after. The only question remaining is whether or not she turned her man in and helped collaborate on his arrest. Do you think it’s plausible she was innocently blinded by love, or does it seem suspicious she covered for him then split the states on the eve of his arrest?

ANNE’S HANGOVER TRICKS

Anne Hathaway seen on Sep 02 2008 in Venice, Italy. Wearing a frock inspired by glam fashion eras of the past, Anne Hathaway arrived by water taxi on September 2 at the 65th Annual Venice International Film Festival for the screening of her newest film, Rachel Getting Married. Rumor has it, Anne gives a gripping performance as a recovering drug addict who leaves rehab for her sister’s wedding. Recently, Anne talked to the press about her secret behind appearing less-than-perfect on camera, “So we were just trying out ideas and I suggested, ‘What if we got drunk the night before and came in feeling hung over the next day? I think we would come in feeling a bit rough and maybe that would make us a little tired and have a little less energy so we look older. So we all did it and it worked. Now I swear by it.” I have to assume she used this trick to look older for her role in Rachel Getting Married, because playing a drug addict can’t be easy for someone as perky and pretty as Anne! Dressing casually for her arrival, Anne donned a classy black spaghetti strap dress with white polka dots (like Pamela Thompson’s Debonair Dress in Black), cinched with a red braided belt (similar to Rough Roses’ Braided Waist Belt in Copper), and carried her fav straw woven tote. The Devil Wears Prada fashionista kept her accessories simple, wearing gold t-strap sandals (like Matiko’s Oda Flat in Gold) with her toes painted in matching red polish, paired with summery gold dangling earrings (check out Kuo Ting’s Pagoda Pendant Earrings in Gold), some contrasting blue beaded bracelets (like Castaway’s Maui Bracelet in Blue Cloud), and the essential face framing black sunnies (similar to Nour’s Noushi in Crystal Mystery). When the Venice film festival concludes this Sunday, Anne will be gearing up for her next release on October 24. Ms. Hathaway will add another edgy role to her repertoire in Passengers, an eerie mystery thriller in which Anne plays a therapist to ten survivors of a horrendous plane crash which endows one passenger with super powers (of course, Anne falls in love with him). Sounds like your average sci-fi thriller when the passengers begin disappearing one by one, but after watching the trailer I’m intrigued to see if Anne can solve the mystery!

HATHAWAY FOR OBAMA

Anne Hathaway seen on Aug 20 2008 in Los Angeles, CA. After lunch at current Hollywood hotspot Le Conversation last week, camera shy Anne Hathaway dined out with a friend in Los Angeles on August 20, luckily leaving her monstrous headphones off for the night. Switching it up from the casual maxi dress she sported during the day, it looks like Anne got some fashion advice from her Get Smart agent persona and donned a sleek black leather jacket (try AmberLynn’s casual Zipper Bomber Jacket in Black) with sultry skinnies (just like 7 For All Mankind’s Quilted Roxanne Jean in Hawaii) and casual striped tee (try Sydney LA’s luxurious basic, the Sydney Tank in Dawn White). Anne became the next celeb to follow the scarf-in-the-summertime trend, wearing a cute black and white scarf that ties together her ensemble and toting a grey and black leather bag that is much, much cuter than the straw tote she’s been carrying around (check out Rough Roses’ Whitney Tote in Grey). After some relaxation time in LA, Anne headed to Denver to catch some action at the Democratic National Convention. Anne is one of many politically savvy celebs involved with Creative Coalition, an org that is supposed to be a non-partisan advocate for the entertainment industry. However, there’s nothing non-partisan about Anne gushing about her love for Obama. Anne told reporters how he won her over, “It was around the time that he gave his speech on race that I just said ‘I can’t deny how I feel about you, Barack Obama. I want you to be the president. I want you in the White House.” Sounds like pure adoration to me!

ANNE ROCKS OUT

Anne Hathaway seen on Aug 20 2008 in West Hollywood, CA. Anne Hathaway had a lunch date with a friend at the trendy West Hollywood eatery Le Conversation on August 20, taking some time off to relax while prepping for the release of her next film, Rachel Getting Married. From the sight of her toned arms, it looks like newly single Anne is still keeping up her vigorous workout routine inspired by her stunt double in Get Smart. Anne says, "She was so ridiculously fit, it inspired me to get into shape. And when you have to lift yourself from the side of a moving vehicle using only your stomach muscles, it makes you work on your abs." Looks like her hard work is still paying off! At lunch Anne looked casually glamorous in a long black strapless dress (like Lotta Stensson’s Long Gathered Tube Dress in Black) with simple t-strap sandals (check out Matiko’s Katia Sandal in Black) and a comfy striped shawl (try Elizabeth Gillett’s Imelda Shawl in Black if you are a fan of the wrap look). Anne played her accessories down, carrying a woven striped beach bag and wearing dangly gold earrings (see Christie Martin’s 3 Oval Earrings in Gold) with super dark sunnies (Anne is a fan of JeeVice’s Red Hot in Black Smoke) and a huge pair of old school headphones. Umm, not sure why Anne needed the huge noise canceling pair for her walk from the car to the restaurant, maybe she lost her iPod ear buds in that giant tote? On the bright side, at least they match her ensemble. Freshly returned to the dating scene, Anne recently opened up in an interview about what she likes in a man. Among standard virtues like patience and respect, Anne gushed about how much she loves “nice guys”: “Nice guys are few and far between, so they must be valued and supported and encouraged to remain nice.” After her recent boy drama, it’s no wonder she’s looking to settle down with someone sans shadiness!

THE REAL PRINCESS DIARIES

Anne Hathaway seen on Jul 16 2008 in Los Angeles, CA. Poor Anne Hathaway. First her boyfriend gets carted off to the pen amid a fury of scandalous accusations, then Anne’s own possessions she kept at her bf’s Trump Tower pad get confiscated by the FBI – including Anne’s personal diaries, photos and mementos of the couple’s four year relationship, and (gasp) tastefully racy nude photos taken for her boo’s eyes only. The worst of it – the nudie pics are rumored to have been leaked to the press by someone inside the FBI. That doesn’t sound like justice to me! In spite of it all, Anne put on a pretty face and looked stunning at the Los Angeles premiere of Get Smart on July 16. Wearing a sleek strapless black frock, Anne took a chance with the tinsel-like decoration on the bottom of the dress and pulled it off beautifully (check out Betsey Johnson’s Sheath Dress in Black). Adding only black peep toe pumps, dangly tear drop earrings (try Kuo Ting’s Teardrop with Embellished Bead Earrings in Vermeil for a metallic alternative) and a domed bauble ring (just like Rachel Leigh’s Crystal Pave Domed Ring in Gold), Anne kept her LBD look simply chic and painted her nails black as well, probably to reflect her mood. Despite her devastating personal life, Anne’s career is moving along swiftly right now, with the success of Get Smart and the upcoming premiere of her new feature film Rachel Getting Married at the Venice Film Festival on August 27. The darker flick is one of only 5 English-language films selected for the competition, thanks to Anne’s gritty performance as an ex-model turned addict that has already been noted as Oscar worthy. If anyone deserves a little gold man this year, it’s got to be Anne.

THE TROUBLE WITH LOVE IS…

Anne Hathaway seen on Jul 14 2008 in New York, NY. Anne Hathway was spotted in NYC on July 14 after a hard day’s work filming the new romantic comedy Bride Wars with Kate Hudson. It’s been a rocky month for the starlet, and this misguided ensemble is no exception. Miranda Priestly would have a heart attack if she saw this one! I am a huge fan of the high-waist shorts look for summer, but the horizontal stripes and pleats in the waistband are obscenely unflattering (check out Hudson’s Scout Pleated Short in Eternal for a much improved, 3 button waistband version). Anne got it right with the tucked in tank (Sydney LA’s Sydney Tank in Dawn White is a very similar cashmere variety), a playful long necklace (try Castaway’s Horn Pendant and Anchor Cluster Necklace for a similar look), and sleek sandals (Matiko’s Katia Sandal in White are similar with cute braided detail). Anne topped off her look with a luxurious black leather handbag (like Jack Rabbit Collection’s Kathleen Bag in Black), matching black sunglasses (like JeeVice’s Red Hot in Black/Smoke), and I’m happy to see Anne’s adding color to her life with the bright bouquet of flowers. Since the shocking arrest of her ex, Italian land developer Raffaello Follieri, Anne has been laying low recovering from the break-up. Anne describes herself, “I mean, I'm about as aggressive as a tulip and I'm full of self-doubt and neuroses and issues” - poor girl! Friends close to The Devil Wears Prada star say she’s lost at least 25 pounds since the split, dropping from a healthy size 10 to a slender size 6 in less than a month. And who could blame her? After breaking up with her boyfriend of four years, the press has gone crazy with “the princess and the con-man” blasts, and Raffaello’s friends have gone as far as accusing Anne of aiding the FBI in the bust. To cope with the stress, Anne has thrown herself into her career, traveling extensively to promote her latest flick, Get Smart with Steve Carrell, and getting ready for the September film festival premiere of her slightly edgier film, Rachel Getting Married, directed by Jonathon Demme. Anne’s rep says her weight loss can be attributed to intense physical training sessions for her new films - what do you think?

ANNE'S DEVILISH DIET

Anne Hathaway seen on Jun 22 2008 in New York, NY. The always beautiful and classy Anne Hathaway was spotted in NYC on June 22, and while the devil very well may wear Prada, it appears that the Hathaway wears Atwood... Brian Atwood that is! Flaunting her new blunt bob and Atwood's killer Nya heels in leopard, Anne chose a demure yet fashion-forward dress for her outing (check out similar and more relaxed versions of Anne's dress, like Beau Soleil's Beau Sun Dress in Midnight and Gina Michele's Mercer Dress in Navy) along with drop earrings (like Kuo Ting Jewelry's Brass Bell Earrings with Coral) and JeeVice Optics' Red Red Hot Sunglasses. While most of the weeklies have been focused on Anne's split from super shady boyfriend Raffaello Follieri, but the new issue of Shape Magazine is focusing on the subject that everyone always wants to know about female celebrities- diet and weight. Anne says, "When we were filming The Devil Wears Prada, Emily Blunt and I were the two most pathetic-looking people you’ve ever seen. I was on a meal-delivery service, eating the tiniest portions ever. I look at pictures of myself at that time and I’m so tiny, I’m not even there. And onscreen I looked kind of normal! That’s what freaks me out the most. I was probably 10 pounds underweight." Is it just me, or can you barely see a difference between Anne's DWP days and her current frame?
