New face Amber Heard was photographed striking the classic hand-on-hip pose at the New York Times Style Magazine’s Pre-Golden Globe Awards Party hosted by Dom Pérignon held at the Chateau Marmont on January 15 in LA, rocking a patterned Alexander McQueen mini dress from his Fall 2009 collection. For a more wearable (not to mention affordable!) interpretation of Amber's look, try one of the patterned dresses on CoutureCandy, such as Black Halo's Scarlet Dress in Black/White, Young Fabulous & Broke's Vanessa Dress in Grey, or Trina Turk's Tula Dress in Zebra. For the rest of her outfit, Amber grabbed a white clutch (like Antoinette Lee Designs' Dolcita Clutch in White), a pair of black peeptoe pumps, and oversized stud earrings. On a beauty note, I am loving her sideswept blonde locks... this style is so '80s (in a good way). She kept her makeup fairly natural, adding a dark, smoky eye for a dramatic look. Her nails were firetruck red, which really stand out in this fairly monochromatic outfit. Overall, I think she looks fantastic. Amber is set to star next in the upcoming film The Rum Diary, which was based on the Hunter S. Thompson novel of the same name. It turns out that Amber got the part because of a letter that she wrote to the producers about her passion for the project and how she thought she would be perfect in the role. It turns out her persistence paid off, as Amber said: "The part didn’t call for a famous person. It called for an actress who was right for the part." I think Ms. Heard is definitely one to watch in 2010!
