Staying true to her “new and improved” look, Christina Aguilera held a press conference at the Emirates Palace Hotel in Abu Dhabi on Oct 23, gearing up for her official Middle Eastern debut there the following night. She looks so sad and lost under all that goopy mascara, cakey orange foundation, brittle blonde bangs and Barbie pink lipstick – culture shock, perhaps? For a press conf, I would have thought Mamaguilera would pick something a bit more flattering – and less blatantly American, hence trashy – than this brightly colored embroidered tunic (tone it down with Kelly Cushing’s Tunic Top with Vintage Indian Applique in Indigo) with cropped black leggings (try Wifebeader’s classy Pearl Dancers Leggings in Black) and sky high Mary Jane stilettos. Adding a touch too many baubles, Christina added a long pendant necklace (check out Rachel Leigh’s Open Ball Necklace in Silver) mixed with a shorter initial pendant (if you like showing off your moniker, try Christie Martin’s Old English Small Necklace in Gold), oversized hoop earrings (like Lana’s elegant Miami Earrings in Yellow Gold) and a couple of cocktail rings (match the tunic with Rachel Leigh’s funky Bird Ring in Cobalt). The following evening, Mamaguilera took the stage in front of 20,000 fans and put on the biggest production the country has ever seen, complete with light effects and a fireworks display. Of her time spent in the bustling city of Abu Dhabi, Christina said, “I am only here a few days but I plan to have a few nice dinners and possibly see what the night life has in store for us. The city is really building up. There are great places to eat, great night life as well as beaches. It seems to have everything to offer.” If only it could offer Mamaguilera a more tasteful look!
