Though she might be in legal hot water, Kate Hudson looked every bit her usual sunny self at the Canadian launch party of her eco-friendly hair care line, David Babaii for WildAid, in Toronto on Sept 5. For the soiree, Kate donned an elegant white belted Louis Vuitton dress (for a similar style that won’t break your piggy bank, try Shumaq’s Sophia Dress in Pearl White) with racy red Brian Atwood pumps, classy turquoise earrings (check out Lisa K’s Greece Earrings in Gold), and some fun bauble rings (like Femme Metale’s Noble Fleur with Snow Quartz Ring in Silver and Rebecca Norman’s Smooth Crystal Rock Cocktail Ring in Silver). The exclusive party was held at the Hazelton Hotel and introduced the line to Canadian beauty editors, giving Kate and her stylist of ten years, David Babaii, a chance to tell the world about the importance of environmentally friendly products. Kate said, “For me as a mother and a young woman, I think that it’s time to just start making sure that we’re taking the steps as much as we can to be a part of a community that is about preserving our world. But when it comes to saving the environment and where we are and what we need to do universally, I think it just is sort of what we need to start doing and if I can be a part of that in any way, that’s my goal.” And how will she accomplish this goal? Besides using eco-friendly ingredients, the hair care line donates 10% of proceeds to WildAid, a wildlife conservation org based in Africa. Taking advice from Mama Goldie, Kate said, “I grew up with ‘Always give 10 per cent back.’ That’s sort of my mom’s motto, and I believe it should be like that for everything.” Through her collaboration with WildAid, Kate traveled to Africa for an exclusive photo shoot for the new line, which involved Kate getting up close and personal with cheetahs, rhinos and lions. Kate laughed, "Those lions, I was so terrified of those lions. We went up to them right when they were trying to scope out a hunt. We were 10 feet away from three males, which is also really rare, because male lions usually don't hang out together." I’m sure they were posing for you, Kate!
