Press Release - The Party

On Sunday, September 12th, I presented my Spring/Summer 2005 collection at my new space to over 300 members of the international press. The inspiration of the collection began after Blake Edwards’ 1968 movie, “The Party” with Peter Sellers, it humored me. The unexpected drove my imagination. I wanted to incorporate the unexpected humor and ambiance of this film into my Spring 2005 collection’s unique style.

The clothes I began to design are reminiscent of emotions from forgotten techniques of the past. The hand crochet, the embroideries, the macramé’s, and the French “passementerie”. All of these collected memories inspired my Spring 2005 collection. Textured fabric, brocade, cotton silk wool, jacquard, gold lame, cotton voile and light knits emphasize a drop waist fluid silhouette broken by masculine tailoring. An innocent white and watercolor palette with the music of a Hungarian rhapsody playing in my head.

“The Party” is a moment of joy, beauty, and imagination.
