Catherine Malandrino's Biography

Weaving together the energy of Manhattan and the Romance of Paris, Catherine Malandrino's creations blur the line between a dream like wonderland and lucidity. This contrast is what Catherine Malandrino calls "soft elegance," and serves as the core philosophy behind her designs and the reason behind her meteoric rise to success. Born in Grenoble, France, Catherine Malandrino began her career in Paris after graduating from Esmod. She worked in the houses of Dorothee Bis, Emanuel Ungaro, and was the cretive force for five years that gave a rebirth to the French label "Et Vous" in the '90's. Catherine Malandrino made her entrance in America when she met her husband and partner Bernard Aidan in 1998 and did the re-launch of the Diane Von Furstenberg collection in New York. Catherine Malandrino said,"I want to design irresistible clothes that make a woman desireable, clothes that a man just wants to discreetly take off, clothes to keep as a secret, clothes that stay darling to you forever." In 1998 Catherine Malandrino presents her first "Collage" collection in New York. In 2000 Catherine Malandrino designs the "Flag" collection acclaimed by Forbes and worn by stars such as Madonna, Halle Berry and Julia Roberts. Between Paris and New York Catherine Malandrino's fusion of fashion above all boundaries is becoming a lifestyle for women world-wide.
