Magic Marketplace: Fashion's A-List VIP Retreat

Each February and August, the fashion industry converges on Las Vegas for one of the most influential and exciting days in the business of fashion - the MAGIC Marketplace. What started as a small group of manufacturers getting together seventy years ago, has now blossomed into the leading fashion market showcasing the newest modes in style, up-and-coming designers and edgy alternatives and accessories to keep consumers up-to-date on the latest fashion trends. This past February (14-17), Las Vegas once again became the hotbed of fashion action as retailers, exhibitors and industry leaders networked their wares on the show floor, and then hit the town in style with A-list parties, concerts and industry-related events.

MAGIC connects a global audience with serious buyers and sellers of men’s, women’s and children’s apparel and accessories. It’s an all-encompassing preview of the new season’s offerings. Thousands of retailers spanning the floor in single store boutiques to mass market domestic and international chains come to the Marketplace to access more than 3,000 manufacturers displaying over 5,000 brands and private label resources. MAGIC International is the world’s largest and most widely recognized producer of trade shows for the apparel industry by providing the most comprehensive apparel and accessory offerings found anywhere in the world.

Kickstarting the 2005 event in style on Valentine’s Day had opening night celebrating the love as MAGIC presented Heartfelt, with special guest Duran Duran. With attendees encouraged to dress to impress and tickets $65, all proceeds benefitted the Campaign Against Child Abuse, A National Children’s Advocacy Center Initiative. This event was sold out before it even began. The next night saw Macy Gray headline a private performance along with the Grammy nominated Black Eyed Peas. The invitation-only event was cosponsored by i.am clothing by will.i.am of the Black Eyed Peas, with additional support provided by Boost Mobile, Red Bull, the Palms Hotel & Casino and L.A. Models. Ryan Seacrest, the ever popular DJ and host of FOX's mega hit show, American Idol, charmed the VIP invited guest only audience of fashion seekers as host of the fashion show.

MAGIC is broken down into Individual Markets, from Men’s to Children’s to Fabric & Trim, everything is seen and nothing is overlooked! The MAGIC Men’s apparel trade events represents every major market and offers nearly 700,000 square feet of active apparel, footwear, accessories, streetwear, private labels, outerwear and more. The WWDMAGIC is the Women’s show of 200,000 square feet of high fashion that also include state-of-the-art, highly-edited runway shows and offer contemporary, denim, intimate apparel, swim & resort, footwear, dresses and more. MAGIC Kids is the undisputed marketplace for kids’ fashion and present a full spectrum of products from baby and toddler to tween. Boom boxes, breakdancers and celebrity shoppers really kept both Streetwear and The Edge the most hip and happenin' block at MAGIC. Fabric@MAGIC is the place to find new resources to complete the apparel and accessory collections; from fabric, trim, leather, suede, print designs and more.
